Best chinese take out within walking distance from my office. They are reliable, fast and convenient. My fav orders include the beef and brocc lunch special(with white rice) and hot n sour soup!

I walk past this place every day to and from work and always thought it looked very dirty from the outside. I decided to try it because I was craving Chinese food during lunch and this was the closest place to my office. I’ll admit, don’t judge a book by its cover! I have had the dumplings, fried rice, and wonton soup. You get 10 dumplings with your order, which is more than most places give you. They really pack the rice into the container for the fried rice, and you get a lot of wontons with your soup. They definitely don’t skimp you on food. Both times I went there I spent less than $ 15 and had lunch for two days. The place is still kind of dirty inside. I have no idea what is going on behind the counter, but I guess ignorance is bliss. The food was good and cheap and I didn’t get food poisoning, so I guess that’s all that matters.

Best Corner store Chinese takeout in the city hands down. They fried rice taste super fresh and give you so much meat or seafood.

UGHFOODISSOTERRIBLE. CHOWHOFUN: made with cheap thin noodles that look nothing like Ho fun that you otherwise will find in all Chinese restaurants. Noodles were dry and they all stocked together. I stuck my fork in and the whole portion lifted up. SWEETANDSOURCHICKEN: Blend and over fried(brown color) versus the light fry crisp you will see in ANY other decent Chinese restaurant. CHIPS/FRIED NOODLES: the cheap kind, soggy as hell. Overall it was just bed. I would recommend either Jin House or Rich City for lower price point and WAY better quality.

We’ve ordered here a bunch of times, and the food is consistently good. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. If you order through grubhub, sometimes you wait a little too long(if you call it’s super fast but you have to pay in cash), but it’s always worth the wait. Love their pork lomein and wonton soup!

Really good Chinese food, that is cheap with fast delivery. I must say I am not a fan of their dumplings, as they are too doughy for me. However, the Wonton soup, General tso’s chicken and pork fried rice are all great!

I’ve ordered from here before and always loved the food. I recently went here on 8÷7÷14 and ordered General Tso chicken. My favorite because it is normally fresh and crispy instead of soggy. I start to eat and immediately throw up. I thought maybe it was me because I hadn’t eaten much all day. I gave the food to a friend of mine, mind you we did not eat from the same container and we did not share any other food. The next day he called me and stated that he had thrown up. At this point I was a little concerned and felt like I should at least notify the establishment so they could be aware. The gentleman who I spoke to who refused to give his name immediately stated that it could not have been there food and that 2 separate people who ate the same thing must have thrown up from something else. I assured him that the only thing we had in common was there food to which he responded that he would need to see a hospital record to validate my claim. I assured him that I was not looking for any type of reciprocity and thought they would want to know that there could potentially be something in there food. He stated that no one else complained and they sell a lot of chicken so he again was sure it could not have been there food. He was very disrespectful and dismissive immediately taking offense as soon as I mentioned my issue as if he felt lime he needed to protect the restaurant’s interest and any acknowledgement would somehow make them liable. It was bad enough that I spent my money and got sick but what made it worse was the lack of concern or empathy. The blatant refusal to even say thank you for calling, I’ll look it to that, was a slap in the face. He basically was saying, So! Prove it! What are you going to do? What do I care that 1 person had a bad experience. I could care less if I lose one customer, it won’t hurt me none.

I used to work next door and would come here 1−2x a week. It’s fast, cheap and fresh Chinese American food. My pops owned a fast food Chinese place when I was growing up so I know whats up. My dads food is better but you can say I’m biased. But for something quick in Philly I have not been disappointed by this place. Solid for sure. And they are friendly!

I wanted to stay in my first night in philly so I ordered delivery from china house. They were fast and the food was delicious! They did get my drink order wrong though, but I wasnt too worried. I also got an unidentifiable mystery item that seemed a little eird, but overall I was pretty happy.

Decent Americanized Chinese food. Not a big fan of their dumplings as they are too doughy. Not a bad place in old city for quick take out lunch. They have a few tables to eat in but its kinda dingy.

I wanted to write a review because they have really made a change in some of their food. I’ve had them a few times when I first moved to philly and it was ‘ok’ One day me and the wife were craving Chinese and we only had their menu. The food was much better than before. We are used to great Chinese food from the DC area and so we might be a bit spoiled. They improved the General Tso and the wonton soup(which should not be hard) I can now say they are my go-to delivery for chinese in south philly!

This post is for the China House Chinese take-out restaurant, 618 Market St, Phila PA: I work at 6th and Walnut, so this place is an easy walk for me. I ordered many things from their takeout lunch menu, and it is usually prepared quickly as I wait. The problem I have with this place is its inconsistency. Sometimes the food is tasty, more often it’s not. Frequently flavorless. I asked for something VERY hot and spicy — and it tasted like they went out of their way to make it bland. No flavor, no tingle on my tongue. I finally gave up getting food from here and now buy from the stainless food cart down the street, where I can get predictably mediocre food for half the price.

So I know there are better quality Chinese food places in Philadelphia … but for«bad», «fake», «yellow sign» Chinese food this is actually pretty good. The won ton soup is one of my favorites in the city and they also have good kung pow chicken and«cheese wontons». Prices aren’t bad. I’ve never had it delivered because I usually walk over from work. Never have gotten ill from it either.

It’s cheap, delicious Americanized Chinese food that you find in the suburbs and eat right out of the container. You want fancy options, go to Han Dyansty. You want lazy comfort food, come here!

I know one of the cardinal rules of Chinese take-out is not to eat at a «yellow-sign» Chinese restaurant, but China House proved to be pretty good. The prices are really good, and the delivery service is very fast. While you’re not going to get gourmet chinese food, the food is still really good. The portions are pretty large(for instance 10 steamed dumplings instead of the usual 6), so the price is right if you’re buying for a few people. This is my go-to chinese delivery place. The staff is also always friendly.

Horrible Service. Food ordered at 11:45AM on SUNDAY — Promised by 12:45 updated to 12:29. Missed delivery time. Contacted GH(at 12:50) and was told 10 minutes. updated to 1:02. Never showed, Contact GH told 10 more, Delivery time updated to 1:35. Restaurant called at 1:34 and told me 10 more minutes. When I asked«what was taking 2 hours? has it left?» he called me a N word and to eat his P***Y.

my husband and I didn’t feel like leaving our hotel to eat so we found china house, which was close by, open until 11, and would deliver. they’re decently priced and give you large quantities of food. Thats about it. I know there are chinese take out places that actually taste great, this one was lacking. The wonton soup was tasteless! The wontons were really thick too plus lacking flavor. chicken lo mein was alright. Had lots of meat and veggies. egg rolls were bland. fried rice was fried rice. I’m sure there’s plenty of other take out places in this city that are better. If you do eat here, they’re cash only.

Maybe the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I had ribs, wonton soup, and an egg roll. The ribs tasted a week old and fried, but thankfully had no flavor at all. The wonton soup tasted like it came from a can, with the wontons themselves doughy and flavorless. The egg roll was the one tthing with flavor, and I wish it didn’t, it was just plain bad. On the plus side, the delivery was prompt, the driver seemed nice enough, and I didn’t get sick the next day.

Normally, I’m not the biggest fan of «American» Chinese restaurants but China House definitely lands on my exception list. Their food is always so fresh and the portions are great. My favorite thing they make is the Singapore Chow Mei Fun… it’s a must try! And as funny as it may sound, they have really good fried chicken wings. But everything that I’ve tried from them has always been good… from the traditional Lo Meins and General Tso Chickens to not so traditional chicken wings and Chow Mei Fun. If you’re in the area or close enough to do a drive by(there’s no parking so bring someone to pick up with you) I totally recommend trying this place out.

i work in Center City and when my coworkers order Chinese for lunch, they always get their food from China House. Today was my first time ordering from them and there was a 2 hour gap between placing the order and the food actually arriving. I ordered steamed chicken and veggies with brown sauce on the side. They explained over the phone that while their menu doesn’t list low calories, no salt, low sodium options, they do offer it. Another coworker ordered General Tso’s and a third coworker ordered two shrimp rolls. I heard no complaints regarding the General Tso’s, but the woman who ordered shrimp rolls wasn’t thrilled about only finding one shrimp in each roll. The selfish side of me wants to mention that I was a little surprised that they didn’t throw in some extra egg rolls or some soup as an apology for the delivery delay. The forgiving side of me wants to delete that last sentence since my food was pretty delicious and I’ll probably be ordered from them again. Also, China House is cash only.
