Aja from Cheekadee did my makeup(and my Mom’s and a few of my bridesmaids) for my wedding this past weekend. She was fantastic! Great to work with, and everyone’s makeup looked great. Aja came to the house and set up in the kitchen which was perfect — we could all keep getting ready, chatting, and eating while she did her work. I was a little nervous about the amount of eyeliner going on when she was doing the first girl’s makeup… but it turned out fantastically. Everyone’s eyes really popped. And the fake eyelashes she did for a few of the girls and my Mom($ 15 extra btw) looked totally real. You would never notice they had falsies on, and I couldn’t stop thinking how amazing their eyes looked. Even my Dad didn’t notice my Mom had anything different with her eyelashes(and they’ve been married almost 30 years)! My makeup stayed on all night too — and even the next day my eyes still looked really good. Nothing like waking up hungover and tired but still looking decent. I also did a trial a few weeks before hand with Aja at Cheekadee studio in Chestnut Hill. Well worth it. The first application of eye shadow she put on I thought was too dark for me, so she re-did it in much lighter shimmery tones which looked great. And then on the wedding day she remembered the switch and did a great shimmery eye shadow with dark liner(perfect). I would totally recommend Cheekadee and Aja to friends for wedding or special occasion makeup. P. S. Setting everything up with Abby at Cheekadee was a breeze and very professional(booking the appointment, setting me up with Aja, getting the contract, etc.). And definitely reasonable prices!

Emily did the makeup for my wedding and subsequently my sister’s 5 years later. Where do I even begin?!? She is just the BEST. Everyone looked their absolute best. She is such a good listener. Plus, she is just the nicest, sweetest person and a joy to have around on your big day.

I did my homework and it paid off! Creative Nina was a blessing and added a calming yet confident atmosphere during my daughter’s wedding day preparation. I think beyond her expertise of make-up and making everyone feel their best, she helped ward off the predicted rain. You’re in great hands! Hugs to Nina!

I am a wedding photographer. I see oodles of weddings every year. There is a massive, noticeable difference between brides who had their aunt/friend/sister do their makeup and a professional. Your aunt/sister/friend may like makeup, have a big collection, and watch lots of YouTube clips but she’s not a professional. She won’t know how to make makeup last all day long, she won’t know how makeup reacts to various lighting conditions that a bride encounters on her wedding day, she won’t know how to apply makeup so that it looks good to guests AND the camera. The ladies at Cheekadee are professionals. I am happy to recommend them which is really important because their professionalism reflects on me. Emily, the head honcho of Cheekadee, is a doll. She’s kind, patient, and, most importantly, she KNOWSHERSTUFF! I have worked with her and the Cheekadee babes many times and am always thrilled by the results. Go with these gals and you won’t be disappointed. Your photographer will back me up on this!

Just had my makeup done by Emily yesterday for my E-session. She has the cutest studio with a sign on her door«Starlets» and the inside looks like a stage room with HD makeup forever /mac/bobbi brown make up GALORE! I wish it was my own vanity at home. :) I was nervous since there are only a few people who can really do Asian makeup, but she did an amazing job and even gave me a free little lipgloss to carry with me on my shoot in case I needed to reapply. Perk: She’s always offering to give you personal recommendations on other vendors if you need(she referred me to Dar Clinton for my hair and it came out just lovely as well) Tip: Email her a picture of what you like ahead of time so she can pull it up and have it infront her while she does your make-up.

I worked with Cheekadee Makeup Artists for my October 2010 wedding, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with Emily’s work. She is an absolute professional, while being warm and friendly, and her quality of work exceeded my expectations. She does a thorough trial run for the bride, and we discussed all of the details for the day of so I knew exactly what to expect. I had 3 bridesmaids and myself get our makeup done for the wedding, and Emily did a beautiful job on each and every one. We got countless compliments throughout the night on our makeup, and it lasted and stayed fresh throughout the entire day. Emily is a pleasure to work with, and she went above and beyond to make sure that all of the details were covered and we all felt comfortable. She is clearly an expert in her field, and she knows what will look good while making sure your makeup turns out the way you envisioned it to look. I would recommend Emily and Cheekadee to anyone looking for makeup for a special event, you can’t get any better!

LOVEHER! Emily and her team did the make up of me and my entire bridal party for my wedding. She is never heavy handed, as some make up artists tend to be when they see my coloring. She listened to my wishes and shared her thoughts about what would be best for me. I wish I could do it all over again! She is a fun, knowledgable person and her daughter is so cute, too!

I met Emily when I was doing my Boudoir shoot with Kamila Harris in NY. I have to say Emily knows her stuff! My hair and makeup was phenomenal!

Emily from Cheekadee was my number one and only choice to do my wedding makeup. I’d done some of my own punk-ish kind of makeup over the years for myself(okay, it was the 80’s), but even in a funky, flashy wedding at the Mummers Museum in Philadelphia, I wanted to look as natural(and pretty!) as possible. Knowing that I could not possibly attain this on my own, enter the very hip, cool and always chic, Emily. I knew first hand that she’s had tons of experience over the years at Chanel, MAC, and just about every upper-echelon skin care/beauty service. And when I described what I wanted to achieve on the big day, she instinctively had a spot-on plan which would bring out and enhance my best features. So, to this day, we’ve got the pictures to prove how much of a pro Emily is. So, ditto, ditto, and double ditto to the other review by Carrie E. With Emily Aznavourian, anyone’s face is in only the best of hands, to bring out the best you possible!(And if I ever decide to attend one of those high school reunions, or have another special gig, you know who I’m calling.)

I usually run away screaming whenever anyone suggests a makeup application — even if it’s free. Why, you ask, would a beauty junky such as myself turn down a chance at some pampering? Well, if you’ve ever found yourself the blank canvas of some overzealous makeup artist who is convinced that everyone looks good with a smokey eye, you get where I’m coming from. That’s the attitude I had when I was told that I’d be made up for a photo shoot I was a part of. Yikes! Luckily I had nothing to fear, because my makeup artist was Emily Aznavourian from Cheekadee, and she turned out to be a hell of a pro as well as a seriously cool lady. After she worked her magic on me, I looked pretty, well, pretty! Emily is the master of the natural, slightly glam look that made me look like me, only better. She also does a brisk business with bridal parties, too, so if you want a more polished, dressed up look, she’s your girl. I still pledge my allegiance to the minimal look(Emily also introduced me to my #1 beauty product, Chanel’s Inimitable Mascara) but if I ever need to get dolled up, I know exactly who to call.
