Captain Hook’s home page on Grub Hub states the minimum order for delivery is $ 10. I just spoke with a very helpful and service oriented Sabrina who took my order for the 3 Whiting Platter over Spanish Rice and Beans @ $ 11.99 and I also decided to order 3 Maryland Blue Crabs for $ 6, cleaned and sauteed. My total order according to Sabrina was $ 21.99 and I was about to give her my card info. when I heard a male voice in the background say my order had to be $ 25 for a delivery. Note, that I neglected to mention to you readers that I live exactly 1 block around the corner from Captain Hook’s and Sabrina had been informed of my location on several occasions. I explained to Sabrina that Grub Hub states that the minimum delivery is $ 10. Why would I have to order $ 25 worth of food in order to have my food delivered? I was well within all parameters of the hours of operation, delivery, and costs. My call was at 9:47PM Eastern and the delivery doesn’t end until 10:30PM on a Saturday, which is today, June 18, 2016. I couldn’t believe the male in the background attempted to jack me for additional money. It was established that I’m a local resident, they have my address in order to deliver. What happened to establishing relationships? I could have been a regular customer had I had the opportunity to try their food and if enjoyed would have been a LOYAL customer and advertised on their behalf for FREE! I canceled the order. I informed Sabrina she did a great job and I had no problem with her, but whoever it was who tried to change the deal or jack me for more money really messed up. It shows he doesn’t value his customers or is even acquainted with what is being advertised about that business. Isn’t that a basic Business 101 class? I told Sabrina several times that because of that behavior I was going to cancel my order and she tried hard to keep the sale, but that guy in the back-ground did that business in. I hope he’s learned a lesson, because I informed Sabrina that I’d share this info with my neighbors as well. This is painful because we as locals in this area should truly support our local businesses and I DO… but when a business starts with the shenanigans NOONE has patience for that behavior and Captain Hooks has lost a customer and maybe more. Why was that price gouging even necessary? I told them I was just around the corner… only 1 block away… willing to pay for delivery. Why was he attempting to make me order even more!!!
