Argh! They Closed!!! I tried 2x to come here, about a month apart, and they maybe would have been open the first time if it wasn’t a Monday :(. I have never eaten here, so I made up a rating just to post this update. I will give it a 4 just because that way the rating stays the same.

Will I ever grow tired of Ethiopian food in West Philly? So long as great new places like this pop up and offer addicting lamb recipes, strong coffee, and incredible service the answer is NEVER! After randomly seeing a friend on Baltimore Ave I was instantly talked out of doing Chinese take out for dinner(it didn’t take that much convincing) and we where on our way to trying Blue Nile Falls new location. we were quickly greeted by an incredible waitress that we both swooned over. I was confused by the alcohol being on the menu but it being BYO, but it didn’t phase me(more reasons to enjoy the Dahlak bar and finally hit up Goijo). Instead we settled on coffee and it was dark and strong — just the way I like it. For entrees we switched up two kinds of lamb. My friends portion was stewed with huge chunks on bones, and my lamb was a lot leaner and cooked with spices and onions. throw in the extra helpings of green beans, collard greens, peppers, and endless amount of injera and our meal was truly epic. The incredible waitress made sure that everything was alright every step of the way too. I’m sold.

So, slow service nonwithstanding, this restaurant was really good. I found the kik alicha(my favorite ethiopian dish) to be perfectly spiced, and the bread was some of the best. I love me a family business, and this is certainly one. The restauranteur’s kid was ADORABLE and kept coming over to say hello. Prices were extremely low(much better than Dalak and others) and the food was better. Though 52nd and webster is not my usual stomping ground, i would certainly go back again and again for more of that amazing food.
