The gentlemen who work here are so very kind. They even gave my cute 7 year old an environmentally friendly pencil for Halloween in lieu of candy. Great selection of water bottles, gift items and even a place to fill up your laundry detergent bottle with earth-friendly detergent. LOVEIT. I hope they make it.

I couldn’t agree more with the other Unilocalers comments about the Big Green Earth Store. They carry a wide variety of ‘green products’ from pet supplies to gifts to household items.(I am so coming back to the kitchen top compost holder!) I want them to carry more products when they’re able to. Their prices aren’t for the super rich yuppies either! Us normal people can afford them. :) They have a very green way of doing business too, which makes me happy. Cornstarch bags, they even emailed my receipt. Larry is very passionate and full of great knowledge. Keep up the good work guys!

Having lived near Berkeley, CA as a youngin’, I am totally down with the whole environmentally conscious thing. Therefore, I am overjoyed to see that said eco-friendly enthusiasm has made its way over to Philly in the form of the Big Green Earth Store. I frequent the South Street location for refills on my laundry detergent and when at Liberty Place, I enjoy stopping by to check out their vast selection of products as well. Unfortunately, they don’t have the refill service at this location due to logistics, but this one is just as awesome. I snagged a coin purse for a friend(made out of recycled water bottles, I think?) that said«FREEHUGS» and had a great conversation with Larry(the manager? owner?) as well as one of his other associates who was there when I came in. This store is a MUSTVISIT for anyone in town!

I admittedly have room to grow when it comes to being green. This was never more evident than when I moseyed into The Big Green Store with my styrofoam cup. Larry and Ted, the store experts, didn’t hold it against me, though. This spin-off of the original South Street store is Philadelphia-owned and fully stocked with all green everything! I was shocked by how many different repurposed and sustainable products there were. They carry a wide range of items like chic handbags made of old juice boxes, tangerine-grape shea butter and solar powered battery-chargers. I tried to leave three times before something caught my eye and I was sucked back in. This is a great place to check out when you want to shop, have a little fun and make the world a better place, all in one stop.
