Walking by this place on Sunday morning is the absolute worst, they don’t clean up at all. The entire sidewalk is covered in bar trash and plastic cups. It’s disgusting and unforgivably rude.

This place sucks. I can honestly say I have ever felt more personally attached and victimized by a clubs staff in life. Fun parties sometimes. It no respect at all — would not recommend to a friend or even an enemy

Would recommend having a larger bathroom and nicer bathroom bouncers. Edit: one year later– fuck this shit. These people do NOT know how to interact with people. Bladders are a certain size and this is quite frankly offensive.

Great outdoor bar the lines are really long security staff are rude and do not move the line fast enough to check ids. Overall, great outdoor bar venue poor service and management does not focus on customer service.

Just like many others have said, some of the staff is pretty rude. The guy outside who checks IDs at the door was extremely rude to me and my friends. The staff doesn’t wear uniforms or shirts that let people know they work there, so my friends and I walked past him not realizing that he works there. He told us to «back up» in a very rude and aggressive tone. We explained to him that we couldn’t tell that he worked there. He responded with another rude, sarcastic reply that we brushed off. For a $ 20 cover charge, this is not something we should have to deal with. Even though we had a good time, this isn’t a place that I see myself coming back to.

I went here with a group of friends for an event promoted by Making Time. Their events are usually good, but this is the first one I went to at Bamboo Bar. The music and ambience was great, but I saw a bouncer literally brutalize a guy for trying to enter the pool the wrong way! The guy hopped the small fence of the pool(we were already in the venue) instead of going through it’s gate and the bouncer started kicking him! The guy didn’t even resist, and I heard him offer to go back the right way but instead, the bouncer put him in a chokehold and dragged him away then– the bouncer slams his head against the support beam! This was totally out of line given the situation and despite the great music and atmosphere, I’d never go back to a place that treats their clientele this way. Last I saw of the poor guy he was being carried away, face bloodied. I sincerely hope he’s alright.

Horrible! $ 20 cover and expensive drinks. Rude staff. I asked if I could step outside for a minute and get back inside(I had a wristband on) and they told me yes. Tried to get back inside 10 minutes later and was told by the bouncers I had to pay again. Tried to explain my situation and showed my wristband and they told me «tough luck» and to «pay again or leave». Wasn’t worth $ 20 the first time around, certainly not worth it the second! Will never be going back to this bar.

this place is cool when there’s a making time. i haven’t been here during other nights, when it’s almost certainly overflowing with douchebags. but it’s probably no worse than any of the other popped collar roofie spots on d-ave, so whatever. they have indoor pools. or what seem like indoor pools, which is neat. i’m sure the water is pristine. haha

I would choose somewhere else to go. I went here for a Making Time event and received rude service from all their employees. The place is kind of cool but it wasn’t that busy and got a little weird. lol

Yuck! Hate this place. Went like 3 times but disliked it. The cover is $ 20 but if you get on the guest list it’s $ 10. I went twice when I was 17 – 18 because Friday’s are the underaged nights where high school kids can get in(or under 21). Everybody that was there looked like there were from the Jersey shore. EVERYBODY. Went back again when I was 21 and figured it’d be better because I wouldn’t have underaged guys hitting on me but it was just as bad. Creepers everywhere. Over priced drinks that were just ok. They have valet parking which is like an extra $ 20. Wouldn’t really recommend this place unless you’re in the mood to be sleazy.

Only go to Bamboo if you love racism and being molested. I(female) went with a group of friends for a happy hour that I «won». My girlfriends and I were fully molested, I mean searched and had to throw away stupid things like pens and gum before being allowed in. We waited and waited for the guys in our group to come in to the club, only to find that they were being refused entry. Apparently, you are not allowed into Bamboo Bar with braids or dreadlocks. That is the most racist thing I have ever heard of in my life. How is that allowed to go on? I suppose my friend should have taken out his braids and walked in with a big, nappy ‘fro? I doubt he would have been allowed in looking like that as well. It’s not like he had dreads down to his knees or anything. I don’t see how that is grounds for refused entry other than blatant racism. Also, the caucasian guy who was with me was denied entry because they said his jean shorts were too baggy. They were no baggier than the khaki cargos worn by the tools in front of him, and his had a lot less rips and tears. I think it was mainly because he was with the super-threatening black guy with the braids, who was obviously only there to shoot up the place. I went back a second time a few weeks later and gave them a second chance, only to be further disappointed. The bartenders were extremely snobby and super slow. Also, the happy hour is suppsoed to run from 10 – 12, and they stop honoring it at 11:30. I say, do whatever you want with your business, but don’t falsely advertise because that’s just sleazy. I’ve learned my lesson. Stay off of sleazy Delaware Ave and just go to Olde City. You’ll end up spending the same amount of money and have a way better time.

Note that Bamboo Bar, Roxxy, and Flirt are one and the same– different rooms in the same venue. This place isn’t doing well and it tries to lure people in with their constant happy hour ‘specials’ but the one or two times I decided to take advantage of the deal(and for me and an unlimited entourage to drink for free for 2 hours, it is a deal), I was sorely disappointed at the atmosphere– nearly empty at 10pm, and by 1am, a meager group of sophomoric and shottily-dressed clientele, unenthusiastic staff, and terrible slutty go-go dancers. Unless you’re rolling 10+ deep and quite intoxicated so you can overlook all this and make your own fun, the dirty and half-assed vibe will most certainly make you wish you went elsewhere. In fact, with such an enticing happy hour deal, you most likely will tie on a load and it still won’t change the scenery or the feel. In addition to all this, now that I am permanently engraved on Bamboo Bar’s/ Roxxy’s happy hour special sucker list, I get a call from one of their employees an average of once a week. When this marketing onslaught first began, I was polite, even apologetic as I declined. Then, as they continued calling, I firmly asked to be removed from their call list– and was ignored. «We use several different lists», they tell me. Read: «Even if we remove you from this list, your number isAnd again and again they have continued to call me. I now just hang up after«Hi, this is the Roxxy-«. Great customer service.

I just recently turned 21, so I haven’t had a chance to check out Saturday nights yet, but I’ve been to the 17+ nights and it is out of this world! Bamboo Bar is by far one of the best clubs I have been to but it also has its problems. One thing I like about Bamboo Bar is that for the most part, the people that go here are very good looking and the music is excellent. There is the hip hop room inside and house and top 40 is played outside. Themed nights are also very fun. This is one of the only clubs left in Philly that is not completely ghetto. Most people here look like people you’d see at the Jersey shore. The thing I don’t like about Bamboo Bar is that it gets super super packed after midnight. If you think you know what packed means think again. While most popular clubs become so packed you can barely move, Bamboo Bar gets so packed you can barely exist. Then add on top of that 2 or 3 bouncers pushing you to get off the stairs when there is literally no room left anywhere else, and you’ve got yourself a tight uncomfortable situation. This is worse when there are two fat people grinding in your personal space and you can’t move out of the way. Other than that, Bamboo Bar rocks.

I must be in the minority here but I love coming to Bamboo. It’s my fave summer hang out(especially since I work so much that I usually can’t get to the beach). I don’t go on 17+ nights(Fridays), so I can’t speak to those because I go on Saturdays. Saturdays are their 21+ night(meaning less teens Usually Wired 96.5 is there, but the music can be hit or miss; some weeks its awesome but ends up repeating by the end of the night while other nights. When it’s good though, it’s really dance your butt off good. It might sound silly but I like the décor too. For being in Philly, it sure has the atmosphere to forget what a crappy or exhausting day you’ve had and just enjoy your night out. Yes, there’s crazy lesbians and drunk Milfs occasionally, but what nightclub doesn’t have them in the mix once in awhile?

Funny how this place wasn’t Unilocaled until Making Time’s July 4th party. I’m guessing that has something to do with the fact that this bar is ~ most likely ~ packed to the rafters with the worst assortment of overly-tanned muscle men and the turkey-skinned girls who love them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure they love this place. It’s on Delaware Ave., has a pool, multiple bars and bartenders in bikinis. I just don’t think that crowd Unilocal much. I never saw anyone reviewing the new craft beer bar on «Jersey Shore.» Back to July 4th. This place was packed and felt like the perfect environment to celebrate the holiday. I don’t know if it was the abundance of cheap beer, the cool breeze blowing through the exposed roof or the awesomeness of Sleigh Bells and Glass Candy, but I was in love with the place. But, alas, it’s like a one night with a person you can’t stand sober. I had fun Bamboo Bar, but I seriously doubt our paths will cross again.(Unless Making Time decides to do this again next year). Five stars for July 4th. One for the remaining 364 days a year.

I am not the target demographic for Bamboo Bar. I came here for a July 4th event to see Sleigh Bells. The Making Time fellas apparently love America so much that they decided Philly’s filthy unwashed youthful masses deserved to guzzle $ 3 PBRs and $ 30 fishbowls of booze in an outdoor lightly tiki-style oasis. In that context, Bamboo Bar was a summertime jam whose legend will be passed down through the ages. As for other nights, I am about to lay down some harsh and possibly wildly incorrect judgments about Bamboo Bar that are not based on direct observation. Purely based on the location [fn1], the absurdly hot bartenders [fn2], the mountainous security personnel [fn3] and some other bits, I would guess that there’s a staggering amount of roofies passed here on your average night. The website bears a disclaimer regarding the dress code for all events, defined as: «club fashionable, no hats, no long shirts in any form, no solid t-shirts, no Tims, no jerseys, final decision made at the door.» That is a huge red flag. Again, I cannot confirm this but I have some reasonable suspicions. Basically, Making Time on July 4th was awesome but do some research before heading to Bamboo Bar on some other night. Fn1: Nothing good happens on Delaware Ave. Every spot is like your least favorite shore bar’s local outpost. Fn2: Youth-obsessed Western culture standard of beauty, Maxim-esque hotness. they were also clad in bikinis, which I assume was not special for the 4th but a regular occurrence. Fn3: The security personnel were super cool dudes. I think they were happy to be dealing with the low testosterone, minimal aggression levels of hipsters. Those dudes get drunk and the emotional violence is pretty frightening but you won’t see any punches thrown.
