This place is worth the drive to Phila and the guy who does the repair work, Larnell, is a true gentleman, so nice and so reasonable– He repaired a ripped heavy leather and fur coat for me and I can’t even tell it was damaged. I can’t say enough good things about him, and his fabric store is cool.

This is THE place to go. The lining of my leather coat was badly frayed. Several places refused to fix it. Mr. Baldwin immediately took it on without hesitation. He replaced the frayed silk with attractive, heavier-duty material with a cool pattern. He went to the trouble to remove the designer’s label from the old silk and reattach it to the new one. Not only was the price right, but he did it that very afternoon! To top it off, the store is full of friendly staff and customers. My coat looks great. I’ll go back for sure. This is a place that takes pride in its work.

Much respect to Mr. Baldwin. He got me out of a sartorial jam. I was looking all over for different materials and he had exactly what I needed here. And not only THAT, I showed up at a good time and got my tailoring done right then and there. After a slight mishap in an otherwise stellar job, I had to return another day for my pick-up. I appreciate that old school professionalism.
As far as selection goes Baldwin has a wide variety. Gabardine, gingham, piqué cotton, tweed, seersucker, leather, suede, vinyl, corduroy, mudcloth, cashmere, skins, and the list goes on.
There’s no doubt that I’ll be back. It can get busy in here too so don’t get your hopes up too high for same day alterations. And lastly, the service is friendly. I tip my hat to Harold and D.
