John Emory is a friend to music pure and simple. You might see him booking shows at just about everywhere even when it’s his house, working sound at places like Danger Danger Gallery, helping bands out with artwork and so much more. He was even one of the people behind the first Popped Festival(when it was pure Philly which was pretty damn cool and significant, although I’m not complaining about seeing Gogol Bordello outside). So with that said it sure is pretty damn good to know that he has his own hot record label covered. And Badmaster has been making some noise. If you were to sum up what type of music Badmaster bands played you might find yourself using stupid terms like ghost punk, garage, noise, alt metal, and so much more. But that’s also the perfect reminder and homage to why you shouldn’t bother classifying music so long as it’s good. And Northern Liberties, Satanized, Drums Like Machine Guns, Pony Pants, Mincemeat On Tenspeed, And all of the other bands that Badmaster backs up are pretty damn hot for all of their own reasons. They’ve been playing Philly and beyond, and giving it their all every step of the way. If you’ve been going to local shows at spots like Johnny Brenda’s, Mill Creek, Tritone, Danger Danger, and so many other house spots in West Philadelphia, than you have probably seen at least 3 Badmaster bands play by now. But if you haven’t than that’s all the more reason why you should.
