Onion rings horrendously overpriced $ 5.95 for SIXONIONRINGS with a very very pronounced fish flavor. Ick. Waitress Katie was very sweet. Beer was ok fish and chips(the fish) were outstanding. But they are FYI frying EVERYTHING in the same fryer which lends fish flavor to it. Gross. They also are apparently blissfully unaware that«spatchcock» means«spine removed» NOT butterflied so they didn’t invest in properly trained kitchen staff. The beer is ok and the rustic rock hard chairs make sure your ass is GONE in a hurry after you eat and pay. However it was not a bad dining experience, other than the fish flavored onion rings. Probably the best fish anywhere other than the Bad Boys of England in Dania Beach, Florida. The place has nice rustic feel to it, the air conditioning was very cold on a very hot day, and again our server was sweeter than sugar. I took off 4 stars for the unforced error of fish flavor onion rings which is inexcusable. INEXCUSABLE. There’s absolutely no excuse for that no matter what. The great fish and chips took them up two stars to a 3 star but the chair and incessant BANGING going on upstairs? just killed it for me. I’d get it to go if I went again because of the horribly uncomfortable chairs. However the fish in the fish/chips was the best in St. Louis – bar none.

Wait, you haven’t been to Main&Mill yet?! What could you possibly be waiting for?! Get there and see for yourself how amazing it is. Trivia Tuesday, One Off Wednesday and live music Thursday… You can easily come up with a reason to come in. Keep an eye on their beer list and it seems to be ever changing. I’m always a fan of their new brews and the food is just perfect!(try the sirloin) it has a nice large outdoor patio on each floor and inside on the main floor has a nice sit down feel while upstairs is a bar top style. I highly recommend you pay them a visit and review it for yourself.

We’ve been several times since the last review, but I thought I would write again just to emphasize the consistency of our satisfaction with this place – this time we had the«Citra» dry-hopped American Blonde, which had all the light, malty aftertaste of the Blonde, but with delicious citrus-y hops. Definitely a fan. We also had the Scotch Eggs(see photo) off the seasonal menu, which were great – can’t say I’ve had any others to compare them to, but the eggs were cooked perfectly and they were super tasty. I mean, how can you go wrong with soft-boiled eggs wrapped in a thin layer of pork sausage, breaded, and then deep-fried? We also had the ribeye with beer & bacon-sauteed green beans and roasted fingerling potatoes. Always a great place to go for a date – great beer, great food, great atmosphere, and friendly service.

Pluses: good food and delicious beer. I had the fish and chips, very good. Daughter had the burger and raved about it. Wife had the salmon; she said it was very good. Summery, great experience and will be back.

Sat at the bar to enjoy a flight and a meal. Absolutely wonderful. The service, food, and beer were a welcomed start for one of my first days in the area.

I truly do enjoy Main & Mill. They are a welcome addition to the area and I will continue to support them. With that out of the way; they boggle the mind. Their food is good but inconsistent. Now for the bigger issue, why can’t I get a exciting brew from upstairs down to my table with dinner? Seriously, from right up there where I can hear the raucous to here in the relaxing dinning area where I sit with my family for dinner. SERIOUSLY!!! Would love to give them more stars, but until this establishment sets aside their hipster ways I can not, in good conscience, give more.

The service was exceptional and attentive. They didn’t have any of the Match burger ready for lunch, but we were early. When the salad had some wilted lettuce, they made sure to make another. My saison beer was good. I’d just like to see more love from the kitchen with the salad. For $ 11, it was lettuce, onions, cheese, generous tomatoes and huge croutons. The dressing did taste homemade. Something a little extra like olives would have made it a bit more competitive for the price. However, having anything vegetarian in Festus(combined with the great service) does show that they really want to welcome everyone. P. S. Note to management: The Match burger can really be a unique draw for you, as we veg heads often settle for freezer burgers or whatever else we can work around in order to hang with our carnivore friends at pubs. I mentioned the Match on Facebook and another friend was curious.(I suggested she call ahead.) Your location away from other micro breweries is also strategic, especially with the limited alternative fare in Jefferson County.

Service was swift and friendly. Beer was great! I also believe you can tell when eating food if the people who prepared it care and yes they care here. I genuinely enjoyed my dinner. Glad to see this place on main it’s about time! I insist you come in and give it a try if you haven’t.

went there tonight with my wife, first time going, and I have to say the restaurant was clean and very nice, but that was it, we ordered our food it took 45 min to get it out to us. I ordered the ribeye, Green beens, and potatoes, my wife ordered the cheese burger, and fries, my food was so bland the green beans still had the vine attached and nothing special about the potatoes, my wife’s food was the same no seasoning so just to say we will not be back

First: SO glad we gave this place a second chance! Any establishment can have an off night or off experience. We visited on 2÷6÷16 and it was a bit rocky, I’m not going to lie. BUT… what made the difference for me was that I BELIEVED the owner was sincerely disappointed in our experience. When that is the case, change will happen. When an owner/manager offers platitudes, I know the reason for my less-than-expected experience. It starts at the top. And excellence starts at the top as well! So, thank you, to Denny for investing in this town and for doing your best to do the right thing. Now for my updated review. I would like it noted that while Denny offered(very generous and not necessary) us an appetizer or round of drinks upon return, I decided it would be impossible to provide a completely neutral review if a) I was receiving something for free, and b) they knew I was there. So, my husband and I sneaked in unannounced late on a Sunday evening, 3÷6÷16. We were greeted warmly and immediately. We were seated in the booths off to the right with a great view of the bar, brewing room and most of the restaurant. Neither of us was overly hungry, nor do we drink much beer(sorry, Denny!) so we just shared the Marcoot Cheese Curds($ 8), Beer ‘n Bacon Brussels($ 4), and the House Pub Burger with added Cheese and Bacon($ 11) which comes with fries. Oh. My. Goodness! We thoroughly enjoyed everything! The Marcoot Cheese Curds are SO yummy! There is no need for any sauce, in my opinion, as they are so fresh and flavorful. For the burger, my husband asked for it to be prepared Medium Rare and that is EXACTLY the temp he received. I mean dead on, not one minute under or over, perfect. It was flavorful and of good quality beef. Now, to my favorite! The Beer ‘n Bacon Brussels! Seriously? I was in some serious heaven. They even smelled fantastic and that’s what I hated most about brussels sprouts as a kid — the dang smell! These are aromatic in a hearty way that draws you in. My mouth was watering before I could even get my first bite. There is just the right about of bacon as not to overpower the veg. And the beer adds just a touch of crispness and edge to it. It cuts the bacon a bit, I feel, and makes it perfectly balanced. It wouldn’t be nearly as good without both elements. So, what only four stars? Well, I guess I’m fairly picky. While we thoroughly enjoyed the food, I can’t award five stars unless the service is also excellent. It was good, but I can’t give five stars without it being great service. Maybe quicker on the drink refills, and a little less of the employees gathering near the bar to talk. I realize it’s not my money, per se, but if you have time to talk, you have time to clean, prep, something. And it simply doesn’t look good to have people standing around and not busy. Sort of gives the impression of poor management, which I DONOT think is the case here, I simply think it was a case of it’s late on a Sunday and possibly there was no manager around just then. I think they would have dispersed had someone of authority come along. I say give it a try! Especially if you’re a beer lover as I do believe that’s their thing. But here’s the great news. The food is also very good! We will be back! — End of latest review — Tried it for the first time on Saturday, 2÷6÷16. The rehabbing of the old building is five stars! Kudos to the owners for their investment in the property. Our service wasn’t quite up to our standard, but I think it also wasn’t up to the ownership’s standards, so I suspect it will be better for our second experience. And we’ll get to try their updated menu as well. I’ll update my review accordingly after we’ve had a chance to try it again. It would we awesome to find a place so close to home that we could use as a regular stop for dinner after work. I hope this becomes that.

I really like old buildings and stuff and this is a very charming old building. The beer is really good and served at the right temperature. Food is good, too. I am happy to have this place close to me and I will totally be back again and again.

Food was good and the beer top notch. I had the salmon and my wife had the steak, both were very good. Did a flight of beers and was very impressed. Only thing that could be improved would be a few more choices on the menu.

Place was fine. Beer is good. Food was good. Very nice atmosphere. But I’m a business man that likes to work while he drinks. There is no wifi and the bar is «rounded.» It sounds minor but it makes it difficult to manage what I do… work and drink. It’s hard to keep my laptop level and not slide off the bar. Also, I’m constantly concerned that my beer will slide off the bar on my company owned laptop. I will come back… but not often as I work while I eat/drink. Fix the bar to a normal flat bar and get wifi and I’ll be there often. UPDATE: I came in yesterday to work at lunch. I immediately noticed how packed it was downstairs so I started to go upstairs… I was greeted by the hostesses to say the upstairs didn’t open until 4:00. They were very nice…“but on New Years Eve,” I thought. «You only have a deuce table left downstairs and a whole other bar area upstairs available with TVs so I can work, drink, and watch New Years Football games and it’s not open,» I was thinking. I understand if «normally» the upstairs isn’t open until 4:00…but come on… it’s New Years Eve, lots of folks are off, there’s bowl games in tv(upstairs is where the only TVs are). I don’t know… I wonder how many saw the downstairs bar packed to the rim and left like me. Would have been good to open the upstairs bar for holidays. Anyway, Cheers… beer is still good… I’ll stick with my normal watering hole.

Love this place. Looking for somewhere in the area to grab a great microbrew and some tasty grub, then this is it! Set in a cool old building that has been completely rehabbed, the brewery offers a lot of beer choices that it brews on site. Try the lunch, its reasonably priced, and the quality is very good. Head upstairs if you want to watch some TV. They have several TV’s upstairs by a bar.

4 stars for effort and a great base to build off: Positives: –Beautiful décor –Great atmosphere –Nice bar and brewery visual –Brussel sprouts were very good with a little extra salt and pepper –Chicken breast on my sandwich was cooked very well(negative below) Negatives: –The dishes(plates/bowls) did not fit with the rest of the décor, very«diner» like –I noticed the servers not always carrying a tray with the plates, which meant their thumb was on the top of your plate. I’ve worked at restaurants in the past and this was a big no no. –Hummus was mediocre at best –Macaroni and cheese was a good attempt with flavor, but poor execution. Soupy instead of creamy –Chicken sandwich was literally just a well cooked piece of chicken on a bun with a side of fancy mayo. Would really like to see some cheese and something to dress it up. Overall I think this place has the potential to be amazing. It’s very new and just needs some tweaking. Extra seasoning and a little more love for the menu and this will be the best place for a date night in Jefferson County! Did not have any beer on this visit

If I was just rating this place on the beer, it would be 5-stars. I’ve tried all 7 of their current offerings and like(or really like) 6 of them. In fact, I was surprised at how good their beer is considering how long they’ve been open. It usually takes a new brewpub 6-months to a year to hit its stride. But there are 2 – 3 excellent beers on draught, and the others are good-to-very – good. The food is also surprisingly good, given how new this place is. It’s not on the same level as the beer, but there are many solid options on the menu. The green chile chicken sandwich is very good and the maple bacon wings with waffle are an interesting attempt(but just not close to as good as the more traditional honey buffalo wings). The reason for only 3 stars is that the service/kitchen is still adjusting to being open. While extremely friendly, the hostesses really had no clue what was going on. After putting our name in and grabbing beers at the bar, they completely forgot we were standing right next to them when tables opened up. Several other bar patrons mentioned they, too, had been forgotten. When finally seated, our server was slow to acknowledge us and then failed to mention that they were out of several things on the menu. We ordered three things that they were out of, but even after the second attempt, he just stood there waiting for us to strike out, instead of just letting us know what they had. This could possibly be chalked up to a communication issue as the servers are using iPods to send their orders instead of actually talking to to the kitchen, but service is all about communicating expectations and they missed on nearly every swing. We’ll give it a shot in a few months and see if things improve, but I would definitely drop in for a Growler.
