While vacationing in Branson and DeSoto it was time to get my nails done so I went to KC Nails in Crystal City and I am very happy to say that I am totally satisfied with the service I received.

I’ve reviewed KC Nails previously, but feel compelled to update it. I’m still completely on the five-star train! So, I started to wonder, why do a couple poor reviews exist? And for the life of me, I can’t figure it out. All I can assume is a) someone was having a bad day(either the customer or the nail technician) or b) something malicious? I sure hope not. But I’ve had my nails done here more times than I can count, and I can say that I’m a fan! I’ve spent 2 and 3-times as much at salons closer to work(in Clayton or Creve Coeur) and not had as good a result. I do believe Ken is the best of the bunch, but everyone is very good. So, are they perfect? No. They all speak softly so it’s sometimes hard to hear them. They also *can* appear short, or more accurately, to the point. Folks, they work from 9am to 7pm everyday. And this place is always busy, so there’s not much downtime. I think sometimes they are just tired and certainly don’t mean to be rude, they are just trying to get to the point. So, yeah, I’ve sat next to the lady who comes in(and there are 8 more waiting) and she’s had 30 minutes to pick out her color and decide what she wants. But nope. She sits in the chair and THEN decides to ponder the 300 colors available. Yep, I’d be a bit short with her also. I’m a fan. I get compliments all the time on my nails and they’ve never looked better! They are my real nails(using gel polish) and I’ve not broken one in two years! True story! And I feed horses and clean stalls each day. And the price can’t be beat! I’m going to post a few pics of nails Ken has done for other people as well. They aren’t my style, but their definitely cool!

Horrible customer service. Made an appointment and still had to wait and was told that’s the norm and will never go back very rude people that work there. Also don’t like it when they speak a foreign language and switch back and forth between English in a different language it I feel it’s rude

Probably the WORST nail experience I’ve ever had. Went with three others. I got a basic manicure and they had gotten pedicures. The staff was exceptionally rude. for no reason. I counted at least four different times that they snapped at us. They had tried to cut so much cuticle off of my nails that they were all bleeding. Every. Single. One. All they said was: «If it hurts now, it will be better tomorrow.» Then proceeded to douse them with alcohol. Nail polish violated the surrounding area of the nails giving it the effect that a child had helped execute the process like you were there own arts and crafts session. By the time we were finished, all of us had shotty(at best) looking nails with numerous imperfections. All of us had at least one messed up nail going out the door. there was no turning back.

This is the best place to get your nails done. They are friendly and fast. Ken is the best nail artist I’ve seen.

My nail placed closed so I was looking for a new place to go. They got me in here right away even though they were pretty busy. I got full acrylics and he did an amazing job. Best nails I have ever had done! The polish even lasted over a week til I decided I needed a change in color… and I’m pretty rough on my nails. Awesome place and reasonably priced. I still definitely go back.

I recently moved to the Twin Cities area from St. Louis for my husband’s job and had yet to try a nail salon in Festus or Crystal City. I have a nail salon in Clayton that I love, but was determined to branch out and try a local place. I went to JD nails first, which had been recommended to me, only to find it closed at 6pm on a Wednesday(the sign said it’s open Wednesdays until 7:30pm; not sure what happened there). KC Nails was the closest alternative, so I headed there in search of a pedicure before I leave for a friends wedding(in which I am a bridesmaid, so I needed my nails to be well-done). KC nails was small and sparsely decorated. I was quickly seated in a massage chair by a man who looked less than thrilled to be doing pedicures. The store appeared to be clean. I chose the Special Spa Pedicure for $ 25(great price compared to the city). I was overall very unimpressed with the entire process. My pedicure looks ok, but did get chipped sometime before it totally set. Time will tell how it holds up… What bothered me the most about the entire process was that after scrubbing my feet with the file, the guy just dumped the tools into the water with my feet in them and proceeded to clean them while I was sitting there with my feet in the water. The massage chair was uncomfortable and gave a terrible massage. The workers were not very friendly, and I did not feel welcome or comfortable in the salon. Overall this is the worst pedicure I have ever gotten(but to be fair i’ve only probably ever had about a dozen). I will not be going back to KC Nails.
