Awesome breakfast special for $ 6.99 and the steak and eggs only $ 10.99 for a good sized portion. And there’s a Casino!

Was a good dining experience. The chicken fried steak was an unexpected pleasure. I’d eat there again.

This place, for me, is perfect. It evokes all kinds of warm and nostalgic feelings. AND, serves up some damn fine food to boot! I have dined here numerous times since I have lived in Nevada(since 1977) and have NEVER had a bad meal or service. My favorite meal there is breakfast. The chicken fried steak is a huge serving of real meat fried to a perfect crunch on the outside. Their sausage gravy alone gets 5 stars from my tastebuds. Great burgers and hot turkey sandwiches also. They have large comfy booths, tables, and table/booth combos. Very reasonable prices. Very clean. There is a great amount of Native American history and artifacts displayed throughout the property. «Mary and Moe changed the name of the small restaurant(The Dainty Cone) to the Wigwam and slowly expanded their menu. The original restaurant was just one room, and the couple lived in the back. The Royels sold the restaurant in August 2005 to the Holder Hospitality Group, Mary and Moe still came to the restaurant several times a week to eat. The walls of the Wigwam are lined with collections of Native American artifacts, cementing Mary and Moe’s passion for the Native American community in Wadsworth.» Opens 5am to 10pm daily, this casino provides 41 slot machines and has one restaurant on the premise. You can park on either side of the Wigwam.

It seems I get here once a year. Still nice folks working here along with great service. The food is great and for me more than I can finish. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. A very tasty non commercial piece of meat covered with really great gravy. The scrambled eggs were well made and the english muffin was toasted to perfection. Very satisfying meal for a decent price.

We were greeted by Susanne right away and got the most excellent service! Had delicious steak and eggs — cooked perfectly and excellent flavor. Susanne was a wonderful waitress! All the waitresses appeared to be really enjoying their job and were very friendly to the clientele. Enjoyed looking at the Indian artifacts. All in all, it was a great stopping place and we will be sure to come here again next time passing through Fernley!

Horrible!!! We didn’t even eat. We are on a long road trip on our way home to Tahoe City with 2 young kids. Waited for 7 minutes to be seated — wait staff after wait staff ignored us waiting(we were the only ones and restaurant maybe ¼ full). Finally a man seated us and apologized. Another 10 minutes went by and after finally stopping a waitress and asking if she could take our order(we had two kids who were clearly hungry) — she replied«no, I’m not your waitress» and walked away. No one showed up so we left. My kids are screaming in hunger, I’m frustrated, and now we get to find another place to eat.

I usually consume a mostly plant-based, healthy diet. Once in a while, a rogue craving comes along, & I just go with it. I was pleased to have experienced such a craving at the Wigwam. I can honestly say that I had one of the best chicken fried steaks in the history of chicken fried steak-dom! Crispy coating, flavorful, & served with mashed potatoes & a really good cream gravy. Do it again sometime? I think so.

I have lived in Northern Nevada almost 20 years and this is the first time I have eaten here! Mary & Moe’s Wigwam is part of the history of rural Nevada and has been serving no-frills meals for just about as long as there has been a community of Fernley. I decided to stop in for lunch one day while I was in Fernley for work After a short trek through the smoky old casino area, I was greeted warmly at the entrance to the restaurant and was seated in a large horseshoe booth in the dining area. My waitress, Evie, asked if I had been here before, and I told her that I had driven by many many times but had never stopped. I asked what she would recommend as the menu is quite large with a huge variety of things to eat. She recommended the Granny Goulash which was the lunch special. The Granny Goulash has no resemblance to the spicy Hungarian stew, but rather a rich concoction of macaroni and cheese with ground meat and vegetables. I was a bit uncertain, but it was really really good. Total comfort food! I was completely stuffed about half-way through. Evie checked in with me to see if I was enjoying my meal and kept my iced tea filled. This was real, brewed iced tea — great flavor without the bitterness. This is probably one of the best $ 8 meals I have ever had. Friendly efficient service, good food, and a clean, comfortable setting. You can’t go wrong. I will definitely not wait another 20 years to come back.

Out of everywhere in Fernley this is my favorite place to eat. Decent prices friendly staff and great food. The only thing that bugs me is sometimes it takes a while to get a refill.

We went for a quick Saturday lunch after shopping. It was my husband, my 1 year old daughter, and myself. We were greeted and sat immediately by a friendly woman, she also ended up being our server. We had our drinks and ordered within 5 minutes of walking in the door. Our server had our daughters food brought out as soon as it was ready. We also had our food within about 8 minutes of ordering. The food was good, I had a hot ham and cheese and my husband had a burger, he said the burger was exceptional. We will be back!

Skip this place. My wife ordered a waffle and a side of bacon. The waffle was not very good. The bacon tasted like the grill needed to be cleaned. It had that off taste of grease that had been cooked in too long. I had fish and chips. Fish was not good. It too had a funny greasy flavor. Fries were the only part of the meal that was good. Not sure why they tasted okay, when all the other fried foods were of a weird grease flavor. Oh, I had cole slaw with my meal and it was not fresh. It had the consistency of soggy that was 4 days old.

Not many breakfast options in Fernley, unless you like casinos and fast food. This place is an old icon that has been around forever, closed and reopened. Kinda like old sports heroes coming out of retirement… maybe it’s time to just move to Florida! Food was just ok, service was just ok, nothing special.

I have been here five times. Three times bad(in 2013) and twice(recently in 2014) good. I wondered how this place stayed afloat. (2013) I ordered a ribeye in here and it was flat, paper thin and not good. Horrible to be exact. The salad was ok but the dressing was premade/store bought and gross. Next time I ordered a hamburger and it was not good either. Fries needed seasoning too. Bland. Third time I ordered the fish and chips and was disappointed again. All 3 times the vegetables were gross, overcooked, and from a can, no flavor and no seasoning. Next two recent visits(2014) were much better. Dinner Special Rib Eye was pretty good, had more seasoning than before, salad bar was almost excellent. Service was much better… maybe they read my older review??. Can I please make a suggestion. Make better food, make things from scratch, make your own salad dressings, get better ingredients, season the food better, and try what you cook before you serve it. If you don’t like it neither will the patrons!

AWE-SOME Breakfast spot! On our way out of town to head back to Californee, the parents and I stopped in for a hearty breakfast to help with the long haul ahead. The casino part is very small so I wasn’t as interested plus it wreaked of smoke and what in my mind’s eye an 80 year old cocktail waitress named Madge would smell like. The restaurant in the back wasn’t as odorous so I happily sat down in the booth we were led to. It didn’t take long for the maternal unit and I to decide on the $ 6.99 Chicken Fried Steak breakfast special while my dad chose something else. I have to tell you that was really good and I’ve had some CFS platters before! I don’t know if it were the sausage gravy or I was starved but it had to be the best I’d ever had! Throw in one of the sweetest waitresses ever and it was quite an experience. I’ll definitely be back!
