Food is always on point. Only negative of Imperial is the lack of draught beer. Drinking beer out of glass bottles and cans is something I can do at home. Other than that, it does not disappoint.

Best restaurant in town, exceptional salsa and takes basic concepts and makes them unique.

Easily the best food in town. The Sonora’s are fancy hotdogs with add-ons like bacon, jalapeños and pineapple. The bar makes great Mexican cocktails. Like Fundale, it’s loud and hip and perfect!

Get the Bakersfield, get the corn, and get some drinks. Then get another Bakersfield. The Bakersfield might be one of the best things you ever ate.

What kind of restaurant establishes a policy that a carry out order must be placed in person? I checked the calendar and it’s not April Fools. Sure seems like a joke, though.

Best margaritas by far. Now that we live in San Diego(a place I feel should have awesome margaritas), I long for this place. I would give this place 5 stars just for the cocktails. The tacos are also great, though some days certain tacos were just not up to their normal standard. Torta was also a delicious option. They make a great fresh salsa and guacamole. Love that everything is done fresh — from the food to the cocktails. Awesome spot for some food and drink.

This is my favorite restaurant in Ferndale! The taco selection is so unique and delicious, I haven’t found anywhere with comparable tacos. They are served family style, on two fantastically textured tortilla, with so many great flavors! I’ve tried all the tacos and haven’t found one that wasn’t fantastic. I also highly recommend the salsa verde and chips. It’s not as spicy as more traditional salsa verde, giving those who can only handle medium salsa, like me, a great chance to taste all the unique flavors of salsa verde! The ambiance of the restaurant is very Ferndale appropriate, with a huge bar and young faced fashionable and kind staff.

This place was so yummy I went there twice in one week! It is quite loud in the restaurant and is always packed. The Mexican corn, frijoles and chorizo, and chorizo tacos were my favorite. All of the tacos are amazing and are small so you can try more than one kind. The margaritas great too. This is a super fun spot whether it be lunch of a late night snack – definitely 5 stars!

Let me start by saying that I am a picky eater and I knew nothing about this place before we went here for dinner but I can always find something. The menu here was so small it was not easy. Some of the items on the late night menu sounded really good but they weren’t available at dinner time(and the dinner food isn’t available late night). We had chips and salsa and guacamole to start I don’t like guac or spicy food but I tried all three salsas & didn’t care for any of them. One was a little too spicy for me and the other two just tasted too much like cilantro which I don’t like. I had the pork carnitas and one of the chicken tacos both were very flavorful but even though I requested them without cilantro I could taste cilantro in the sauce on them. I personally prefer hard tacos & theirs are soft but the meat in both was delicious. Everyone really seemed to enjoy their tacos, my friends really enjoyed the guacamole, and the chips were yummy. I had one of their bourbon cocktails and I didn’t care for it very much, I don’t know if it was the bourbon or something else but after some of the ice melted it was more enjoyable. The service was really good and I like the way the place is set up for sort of communal seating but people seemed to be waiting a long time to sit anyway instead of sharing which I found odd. We got there at like 5:40 and it started getting busy around 6:30. The prices are reasonable but I definitely left hungry… mostly because I’m picky but I also just prefer a full meal vs. a-la-carte. I personally wouldn’t come back here but I would recommend it to those who like different Mexican food or small plates.

I came here for the third time last week after hanging in downtown Detroit with some friends. There were 6 of us, and we waited roughly 30 minutes for a table. Not an issue for a Saturday night. After we were seated, service was marginal. They seemed understaffed. When our order arrived, we were shorted 2 tacos, which leads me to my complaints: 1. They need some thing on their menus other than tacos and hot dogs. It’s all great, but the menu is just too limited. 2. I don’t like how they serve everything on one big platter. We didn’t realize that we were shorted tacos until the middle of our meal because we all orderes individually, but they throw everything on one platter anyways. By that time, we were anxious to leave, so we just asked to have them taken off our bill. The waiter was upset that we didn’t tell him when the food arrived… as if we would have been able to count each typo to taco and figure it out of the spot in a matter of seconds. 3. I’m quickly losing interest in the Ferndale/Royal Oak scene. Perhaps I’m growing up and I feel like everyone in these places is still trying to be in college. I have had better experienced here before, so u don’t want to slam them too hard. 3 stars it is.

I just love this place, kinda American Mexican food great choices but their menu is small. They have some solid tequila cocktails, taco specials and flavorful regular options that make this a very popular place in Ferndale. Expect to sit at shared tables with Ferndale hipsters and get there before 7:00 as it fills up. The bacon-wrapped Sonoran hotdog is a hit so are the fish tacos(served on Mondays only). These have been hit and miss, the fish portion shrinking and depending on the«extras» they include each time. I always cross my fingers for anything mango or pickled. Vegetarian taco specials are a great option on the menu, yea the menu is small but their are some great choices and I can’t wait to go back.

Bloody mary selection isn’t quite what you’ll find at a few other places, but the beer selection more than makes up for it. Top that off with some rather interesting hot dog options, and you’ve got yourself a nice little hangout. The bartenders were cheerful and friendly, which is always a plus.

This is not your bunica’s traditional Eastern European dining hall. No, sir. «How’s the borscht served?» I asked the visibly confused, yet friendly, waitress and had to really spell it out for here because her Bulgarian was not as strong as I had surmised. «Is the borscht served hot or cold?» This time I asked her in English. «We don’t serve boar,» she said. «But we do serve these things called taco’d sandwiches, though.» There was obviously mass confusion — but I was hungry, so I ordered these taco’d sandwiches, which I assume are popular in Latvian cuisine, and within minutes she presented me with a magnificent tray filled with four perfectly rolled flour flatbread sandwiches filled with various animal meats, spices, and in one case, topped with a tropical pined-apple you’d be hard-pressed to find at most restaurants in Kranj. I took a bite, and told her that I really enjoyed these taco’d sandwiches, so much so that I ordered four more taco’d sandwiches, each one was more delicious than the other. One of my dining companions, who was visiting with his wife from Gdansk, ordered processed pig meat in tube form with crispy pig meat served on an open-faced piece of bread perfect for containing all that pig meat. He said it was better than any kabanosy sausage or pickled herring he procured from Gdansk’s Market Hall during the immaculate harvest of 2002. High praise for Imperial — but dedushka would not approve.

IFYOUCAMEHERETOSEEIFYOUSHOULDCHECKTHISPLACEOUTORNOT, DOOOOOIIIITTTT! Right now. Go. In fact, we’ll meet you there. In the top 5 of this household’s favorite restaurant list, for sure. & anybody new I’ve taken to Imperial has been really impressed, yay! It would be hard to find anyone who didn’t like it. Imperial is a fun, unique restaurant that’s serious about it’s food. I’m a picky eater, but always order items as they come here. The balance and mix of flavors comes together instead of everything standing separately and getting bites of each ingredient, if that makes sense. The Bakersfield hot dog wrapped in bacon topped with pineapple and, um… lots of other stuff? is a must have. For one person. I would recommend getting a hot dog, a taco(they’re small), and the Mexican corn. You’ll be full :) The first time I came, I made the mistake of only ordering the tacos, which are good to try, but not the best options on the menu.

Hmmm, interesting place. I am not sure where all the hipsters shop but they all look like they prefer rags as clothes, but don’t forget to rock the wool cap on the back of your head indoors because it is so cold inside. I digress. Annoyed by the lack of website so we could not review the menu ahead of time, which would have taken all of five seconds. One page of food truck bites. We ordered all the tacos and all the hotdogs besides the vegetarian ones, F that noise. Tacos we okay, but the assorted hotdogs were quite tasty. However, the residual affect on my stomach has not been welcomed. The stars of the show were the sauces to add to the dishes and the absolute piece de resistance was the hot salsa, the best I think I have had. Okay place with very uncomfortable seating with decent street food, and an okay beer selection. P. S. the talent pool of the patrons was surprisingly outstanding.

Been here twice, the first experience was much better than the second. Excellent food — good tacos, fantastic margs, meaty tortas and unique sonorans(bacon wrapped hot dogs). Tried the chorizo dip, which was cold and disappointing. The grilled jalapeños are excellent, but they are spicy! Elote is delicious. Service was good the first time, atrocious the second. Surprisingly, the first waitress was very busy but always attentive to myself and four friends. Then, I brought my family on an empty Saturday at 3, and our food was late(by 20 minutes) and the waiter ignored us. Will return, but be aware that service is slow even when the place is empty.

A fun hipster Ferndale eating and drinking place. Located on Woodward just north of 9. The front has bay doors that roll up to outdoor waiting benches. We went Friday at 6, and got there just in time, after us there was a long wait. Inside some large skateboard pictures, a long bar, narrow side wall tables and stools, three long communal tables, and three booths reserved for parties of 6 or more. Several page beer menu. The food centers on small arty tasty tacos and hot dogs. The crowd tends towards trendy people and hipsters, to the point that we saw a 10 – 12 year old with his family wearing a fedora. Very loud inside.

We stopped in here on a Thursday in a group of six. We were quoted about an hour wait and were seated in about that time. It was a little frustrating to have the hostess tell us the next booth to be available would be ours and then see someone walk in forty minutes later than us sit in a booth before us. I ordered the Imperial Hot Dog and an Al Pastor taco. The food was inexpensive and tasty. Not anything special, but a fun atmosphere and a good deal. The beers were also pretty inexpensive and there was a good selection of import bottles. They were out of the cheese/ingredients for several dishes and out of one of beers we tried to order.

Holy Taco of Awesomeness! I dont know where to start! How about the communial seating… LOVEIT! They have private tables and a bar area but I really love sitting at a big table amongst strangers and making new freinds over tacos, guac and tequila. HELLOITSPERFECT! The décor is simple but does the trick. I like it lots. THEFOOD! Sweet baby Jesus! My BF and I started with chips and guac. The chips came in a paper scak still toasty and warm. I’m pretty sure I growled at my guy when he tried to take the last scoop of guac lol. Its so good! TACOS! This Irish Lass loves a taco! lol We had the weekly special of blood tongue and it was on point. Tender, cooked perfect and the salsa type sauce on it was to die for. Oh we also had carnitas and I don’t know if I can put together the right words to describe how effing delicious they were!!! Dear Imperial, I love you! Gather your friends or your boo and go to Imperial and get one of everything! My next plan is to attack the sonora style hotdog side of the menu.

Haven’t been disappointed by Imperial yet. Chips and guac, salsa, and are all solid starters. The elote especia(corn on the cobb topped with pablano lime cream and cotija cheese) is an awesome snack. Tacos are fresh and packed with tons of flavors. And bacon wrapped hot dogs? Get out of here if you think that sounds like a bad idea! All of it is great. And while the portions may look small, don’t be fooled! Those tiny tacos are quite filling! I think it’s those double corn tortillas. I always order three and think, «this is gonna be perfect» but then by the time the chips and guac come and I’ve picked my way through those I’m only able to get about 2 in before tapping out. But they do make a great late night snack if you take the rest to go. My personal fave of the taco options is the pork with pineapple jalepeno salsa. Not that spicy but still reaaaal good, especially if you’re ’bout that sweet/salty combo life. Prices are great and since it’s a la cart you can add as much or little as you want to eat. $ 2.50 a taco isn’t really that much more than a fast food bite and it’s way way way better. Lots of vegetarian options too(like seitan tacos and veggie dogs) if you’re not a carnivore. Lunch for two without booze was a mere $ 20 and we both left stuffed. Tequila and I had a pretty epic falling out in college but if it’s your thing they also have a fantastic selection plus great cocktails and such. Perfect for a quick bite or for drinks and and fun with friends.
