The food was good a little on the expensive side. The reservation policy was driving us nuts. We wanted a window seat but was told they were reserved. A young couple came In a half hour later that’s was ok but the other table was never seated. Also an older couple with a lady on oxygen was told there weren’t seats available for a half hour. Then another couple without reservations came in and were seated immediately. They were also out of two main items early in the evening

Enjoyed lunch on their very nice back patio when traveling with our little dog. Good food, nice setting, highly recommend!

Driving the Lost Coast Loop and happened upon this restaurant. What a treat! Excellent food — we had the Rib Eye sandwich and the BLT. Very high quality ingredients, nothing was served on plain sliced bread. It was fresh focaccia for the BLT and French bread for the steak sandwich. Waitresses were extremely nice, and very clean & tidy feel inside. Great!

Had the portabello mushroom tower, very good. A bit more expensive than I thought it would be, but we enjoyed it.

Traveling with the dog once again necessitated finding a dog friendly place for dinner. Found Curleys to be friendly to both the humans and the canine. Service by Maureen was prompt, caring without hovering, and for what we ordered(portobello mushroom tower with polenta and the lamb shank with gnocchi) the timing seemed spot on. Starter soup was delicious too and our meals were very well cooked and seasoned. Great patio and the inside is well done with the green and white paint, wood tables(tops all the same but variation of the table legs have a nice quirky spin). All paws up for being very welcoming to dogs.

Worst dining experience. I’d give it zero stars if I could. My family of four went there for lunch before a play at the Fendale Repertory Theatre. Luckily we gave ourselves plenty of time. We were seated quickly and drink/food orders were taken in a timely manner. That’s where the service ended. We were brought our drinks then ignored for nearly 45 minutes. People that came after us, received their food and left before anyone came to talk to us again. No food, nothing. After 45 minutes our waiter comes back, says he forgot to bring out the soups and bread basket and asks if we want it. We ask the status of our food order and he says it’s coming right up. It takes him another 15 minutes to bring the two cups of soup(still no bread). A few minutes later we’re told«oops the order never was sent to the kitchen». 20 minutes later we finally receive our food(which was good). I have been to restaurants with slow service before but this was terrible! It wasn’t extremely busy and they did not appear to be short staffed. If anyone had stopped by to check on us within first 45 minutes, maybe the food error would have been recognized earlier. Other waitresses clearly saw there was a problem as they would quizzically look in our direction, yet said and did nothing. The owner was even nearby and while he could see we were getting annoyed, never came to talk to us or intervene in any way. To top it all off, the waiters idea of «comping us» was to remove the ice tea charge from the bill. Horrible service with a staff and owner that don’t care. I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Great spot to hit for a nice simple lunch. Service is great and atmosphere is relaxing. I highly recommend the portobello mushroom sandwich. Even my picky son downed the locally raised hamburger faster than we could eat ours. Delicious food and a place I look forward to visiting again the next time I come through.

Took friends here Sunday night after a very busy weekend in this area with AutoRama going on. Service was perfect and the Rack of Lamb was heavenly !!! My husband had the Portobello Tower(his favorite always). Curley’s is always top notch.

Sorry, but when you order a BLT and a salad and it takes about 30 minutes to get(believe me, I can tell time) your order I can’t give a favorable review.

Curley’s is a wonderful setting for any family. They have mastered the Arnold Palmer, make great BLT’s, my friend ordered the portabella mushroom sandwich which she said was«to die for»(meaning delish!) The restaurant is quaint(as it should be for a Victorian era town) in modern day America. And the wait staff, well they are so friendly and excellent at their jobs. They know how to provide outstanding customer service to us tourists and are eager to please because they want everyone to have an awesome experience. Try it, you’ll love it!

Been there twice recently and the food is nothing to get excited about the service is even worse, last time we had 3 steaks one medium rare and the other two mediumand al three were still cold on the inside, sent two back and they came back unchanged, like they just kept them in the back for a bit. Waiter said nothing about the steaks, almost as if it were something we did wrong. Loved the old Curley’s but will not go back there agan, to expensive for food that was undercooked and service that did not care.

I had a great experience with my beautiful date. We both had an amazingly crafted burger, with avocado, sautéed onions, bacon, and of course chedder. Besides the wonderful meal, the service was outstanding! We were waited on by an extremely professional, well mannered, super attentive, young waiter. Our waiter Will wasn’t just well trained and polite he also aided us on choosing our extremely flavorful meal. Overall it was an amazing experience. Highly recommended place for food and service, hence the 5 star rating witch is still not enough stars to rate this amazing place.

I can’t believe this place had so many good reviews. The service was acceptable and the restaurant is beautifully decorated, it’s just a shame that the owner/chef doesn’t enjoy food. We went for lunch… Chinese Chicken Salad– all dark meat chicken with soy sauce«dressing». I had to ask for lemon wedges to help it taste anything but salty. Chicken Sandwich– Dry, without mayo or lettuce, completely flavorless. BLT– The bacon was good, other than that it was so dry and flavorless it had to be dipped it in the soup. House Salad– just lettuce, other no veggies. Dressing was oil with blue cheese on top. Tomato Soup–«Like marinara sauce»

While visiting family in Ferndale we love to eat out. Heather suggested Curleys. Started with grilled polenta and sausage. It was delicious. Two of us had burgers and the granddaughter had buttered noodles. Our 5 year old said the noodles were a hit.:) the burgers were so good I never heard a word from them until they were done! That Good. I had the 8 oz filet mignon and demi glaze sauce, with gnocchi and fresh veg. Wow … it was perfect! Oh I forgot, I also had their tomato basil soup. I think I need to move to Ferndale…;)

A nice, old fashioned café in victorian village of Ferndale. They were clean, slow service, it’s not a place for your lunch hour. Their food is sufficient, but the variety on the menu is lacking. They mean to keep it simple, no biggie. They sell their own house made tomato soup too in cool jars. Friendly service.

Pros and cons for this place. The three who ordered the chicken pot pie special, raved about it. A couple always love the BLTs. The salads were disappointing. Service is slow. Hard to recommend in a town with such good eats.

Had just been to a Sunday matinée at the theatre across the street, which got out at 4:00pm. Was a little disappointed to see that Curleys was still on the lunch menu, but the food was good, the service was good, and I’ll come back. I had a burger with onion rings, and my friend had the soup and sandwich combo. Both of us enjoyed our meals. Loved the little cow salt and pepper shakers, and the art around the room too.

At 7 pm on a Saturday night, this place was packed. This, if anything, seemed to attest to the appeal of Curley’s, which used to be located down the street. Their new atmosphere is fresh and charming– simple wood furniture and abstract paintings dot the room. Although I walked out of there feeling full, I did not walk out of there with the sense that I had just had a remarkable dining experience. The coconut shrimp was definitely tasty– the shrimp was fresh and meaty, and it was breaded and cooked to perfection. But the rest of the menu lacked creativity in terms of options. Humboldt is known for its abundance of delicious provisions. Hell, the store across the street stocks no less than five goat milk bath products. Why not add a melted chèvre crostini to the mix? Or some sautéed chanterelles, straight from the redwood forest? There was a salad Niçoise on the menu, which featured the«catch of the day.» Yet, given that the catch of the day was catfish, it didn’t seem like the most appetizing option. The penne was tasty, albeit simple, and the steak definitely elicited an ooh la la. But a garden burger was nothing special, despite its $ 14 price tag. The wine and beer list was pretty good. I was hoping for some story behind the furniture in terms of who made it/why all of the pieces were different, but our rather quiet waitress had no idea. At the end of the day, Curley’s wasn’t a disappointment, but it didn’t impress me much, either. At the end of the day, I definitely was wishing that they had aimed for something more bold, original, and unmistakably local. Like furniture, every good dish should have a story.

What a wonderful evening our family of four adults enjoyed at Curley’s during our summer vacation trip! We had been on the road all day and just wanted a nice meal in a relaxed environment. Well, Curley’s went above and beyond. The food was AMAAAAAAAAAAZING!!! I had a bite off of everyone’s plate(we all ordered something different), and I was blown away by the flavors. I could have licked my Fish & Chips plate clean if no one would have been looking. In my whole life I have NEVER liked coleslaw, but this was the first time that I tentatively tasted it and then went on to eat the whole thing. The meal we enjoyed there continues to be a topic of family conversation. Our server was an absolute gem. She spoiled us rotten and kept us laughing, too. We were ready to name her an honorary member of our family. If you visit Ferndale and you don’t eat at Curley’s, then you have just passed up on the jewel in this town’s crown. Hey, when you see a line of locals waiting to get in, then you know you’ve got the right place. Curley’s is most definitely my cup of tea, or two, or three, or four.
