Canine To Five Ferndale

The owner gives a flying duck about the dog owners. I had a simple question about using purified water and she went on a tyraid about how no one else has ever asked her that and that it was essentially a stupid question. Very rude. On the other hand, my dog liked it there and they had a cute report card to give me some insight so I guess its decent. I just don’t feel good about the woman running it becasue of the way she handled my questions about their care.

I think this place has merit.
They monitor the dogs well.
Have a nice facility.
Registration is simple.
They’re polite.
But I think it’s really only good for 9 – 5 jobs literally due to their limited check in and check out hours.
I’m never able to take my dog there with my fluctuating schedule.
It definitely seems like they miss out on that pool of people which in Ferndale is a lot.

Editing this review because our puppy loved canine to five, but hasn’t gone in over a month after contacting kennel cough from another puppy. Other puppies also became ill the same week as our little guy– so it’s clear there was a sick dog let into the facilities. I understand it’s not the facilities fault that another person brought a sick animal in. But they should send sick animals home and let owners know if their dog was exposed. After a month our little guy still has irritation in his throat and is coughing. Overall disappointed and frustrated a sick animal was let in the facility and cost our guy his health for this long, and cost us so much in medical bills.
Our puppy LOVES canine to five! He’s only been there for his first week– but he’s already excited to head there in the morning. His report card was cute, and I love being able to see pictures of him playing. We know he’s getting a full day of playing in because we bring him home at 5 and he puts himself to bed until 6 am.

I’ve been taking my dog to Canine to Five (Detroit) since he was a tiny pup. I went out of my way to take him there. I didn’t live or work nearby. They definitely set the standard high.
I was delighted when they opened the Ferndale location because it’s close to home and work. The new location is great although I kind of miss being able to get a little peek into the play area. They have cameras set up to check the play areas out though. The lobby is spacious, so if you need to hang back a bit due to an excited dog, it’s easy to do.
My dog LOVES coming to daycare. He loves the staff and they love him. I also like that they’ve added private play daycare for my other dog. She’s the sweetest dog, but not good in group play. It presents a bit of a challenge when we need to board both dogs. I don’t want her to be stuck in a kennel all day. The senior dog area is a small area up front. It’s in view of the front office staff. If there aren’t any seniors hanging out, they let my old lady stay there. It’s nice to know that is an option. She got plenty of private play time as well.
They offer a few additional services like nail trimming, baths, ear cleaning and flea preventation treatment. We usually get his nails trimmed there. Their pricing is competitive with groomers in the area.
Canine to Five is an amazing daycare and boarding facility! Liz and staff clearly love each dog that stays with them and provide the care they’d give their own dogs.

We love, love, LOVE Canine to Five! Our pup Lucy has been coming here for a little over year, starting at the original Ferndale location and now at the new bigger building and we have had no complaints. Lucy is always excited to go on Friday mornings — it’s so cute, we don’t even have to tell her what day it is, she somehow always knows! And when she comes, she’s always pooped out and a tired dog is a happy dog!
We switched to Canine to Five after going to another doggy daycare for a few months for a few reasons. First, Lucy is very anxious around some strangers and the daycare we were taking her to previously only had two women who worked there. We liked knowing that Canine to Five had a large staff (men and women) that she would be interacting with. There are also A LOT of dogs that go to Canine to Five. When I bring her to daycare, I want her to have tons of friends to run around with.
Another thing we like about Canine to Five is that the dogs aren’t caged regularly during daycare. Other doggy daycares have a «nap time» where the dogs are often put in crates, sometimes for a couple hours! We live in a condo so she doesn’t get to run around in off leash at home and being able to run around at daycare is the reason we take her. Instead, Canine to Five has «cuddle time» when they dim the lights and try to calm things down for an hour, but the dogs are still able to move around.
The main reason which ultimately (and thankfully) brought us to Canine to Five was their boarding facility. When we had an emergency need for overnight care for Lucy we were appalled when we found out that most boarding facilities in the area do not have a staff member in the building over night. If I wanted to leave my dog alone overnight, I could do that at my own home! A lot of websites for other daycares are misleading and say «24 hour monitoring» but that really just meant that they had cameras on 24 hours, but the employees left from 10pm — 6am. And of course, while boarding, the dogs are able to play with their daycare buddies during the day.
We also love that Canine to Five posts tons of pictures in their Flickr account. It’s so fun to look through the album at the end of the day and see what our girl was up to. They also post a «Dog of the Day» on their blog which is really cute to see. And once in a while, Lucy comes home with a report card. It’s always so sweet reading the comments the handlers write about Lucy. Everyone there always recognizes her when she walks in the door and it seems that the employees genuinely really love their jobs and the dogs they work with.

Amazing staff! Take such good care of your dog as if it were their own pet! Rob always offers your dog a bath which is so convenient :) my dog absolutely loves going here every day!

At the time our dog was attending Canine to Five, the training and quality of their handlers was, on average, sub-​par. Our dog, who is one of the sweetest and most social dogs you will ever meet, was often confined to a leash, simply because he had a high energy level and his desire to play «got the pack too excited».
We also got an emergency call one time while he was boarding because they thought he had kennel cough. His vaccinations were up-​to-​date and upon observation when we returned home from our trip, he seemed perfectly healthy. To require us to make alternate plans while on vacation simply due to overzealousness is not what a responsible, well-​informed kennel should do.
Bottom line: Not bad, but there are definitely better facilities around.

These guys have been amazing to our dog Bug. We will continue to bring her here whenever we go out of town or if she just needs some old fashioned playtime. Great place, great staff!

Our Dog Lucy loves her time at Canine to Five. We have been using their daycare service since Lucy was old enough to go. They treat Lucy like she was their own puppy. We have also used their boarding service. When we went away for Christmas we were unable to bring Lucy, but canine to five had such a great boarding package and we knew Lucy loves going there for daycare that we felt better leaving her in their more then capable hands. I highly recommend this establishment to any dog owner who needs a daycare or boarding service.

I am a bit of a crazy person and rescued my first puppy during a blizzard. The snow on the ground was seriously taller than the puppy which made walking her, potting training her and socializing her quite an interesting start. A friend of mine recommended Canine to Five and I immediately contacted them and found out about their amazing puppy program which has been worth every single penny spent. My pup, Betsy Lou loves it there. How can I tell? Welll… they have webcams that I can watch at work and they post a daily album onto their Flickr account. During my stressful day of crazy deadlines and software/​computer issues I can relax knowing my puppy isn’t destroying my house and I get to have little de-​stressing moments of PUPPY CAM! I really don’t know how the employees there can handle all of the adorableness! Oh, let’s talk about the employees! I’m completely awkward and I was a frazzled first time puppy parent and they’ve been amazing every step of the way. From explaining how the program works, to scheduling days, to grooming and even feedback on how little Betsy Lou is doing. I forgot her lunch a lot in the beginning and felt horrible, but they have a service for bad parents just like me. I’ve been sick and had to cancel days, they’re understanding and are all great! They know all the dogs names & even greet me daily by my name. Betsy Lou gets report cards, which is a great little personal touch. After the first week in daycare they sent a greeting card in the mail. I just took little monkey Lou Lou on her first road trip back home, I’m a recent transplant to Michigan & everyone commented on how well behaved she was. I can take her anywhere & she loves all the humans and all the animals. I know for certain that this wouldn’t be the case if I didn’t socialize her so early on & I have the fine folks at Canine to Five to thank for that! The best part is that my spastic little angel is so tuckered out from her romper room antics when we get home, the after day care nap! You’ll thank them every time :)

My dog, probably like many of you, is my child. I have her paw prints tattooed on my feet, I painted a picture of her that hangs in our living room, and she celebrates not only her birthday but also her Gotcha day (adoption day). So you better believe I can be a bit protective of my baby girl, Rogue.
This was Rogue’s first day care experience and she loved it! (Subsequently, I also loved it). She was so tuckered out when she got home, it was adorable. Rogue does not have the best socialization skills and I felt comfortable with the knowledge and patience of the staff. At the end of the day, you get a report card that tells you how your dog did and gives some information about how they spent their day!
We will definitely be making this a weekly adventure for Rogue and I am sure she is already thinking of the next time she gets to go!

Otis and Gabby are loving the new location! Very caring and thoughtful owner with an attentive and considerate staff. My pups love the daycare but knowing they have a safe and fun place to go when I travel is what keeps me coming back. Tons of play space both indoors and out. Check out the reviews from their old location because it only got better with the move.

Our two pups, Riley and Finn, love Canine to Five! We bring them 2x a week for daycare and we occasionally board them when going out of town. We have been especially impressed with their new, larger facility, and the «private play» option for Finn, who doesn’t always interact well with other dogs. The handlers are amazing, the staff is super friendly, and I love that my guys are tired and happy after a day of playing with their friends. Highly recommend.
