If you own a pair of golf knickers(or even have thought of owning a pair) than Tyrone Hills may not be the place for you. Likewise If you feel the urge to inquire about the stimpmeter ratings for the greens. However, if you want a course that is accessible, affordable, open, is well maintained, has a significant variation of hazards, elevation differences and chpices to be made based on tee selection and drivable disance, then this is a GREAT choice. Really appreciate the 2014 ‘Recession-Buster’ Mondays where you can play 18 with a cart for $ 20, a great deal. Yes, the greens are a bit hard and fast(it is a challenge to stick the green). And yes, you are likely to find a beer can or other adult beverage in the tee box trash containers regardless of your tee time, but this is a place where people come to golf and have fun. Not the toughest trrack in the area, or the most scenically stunning, but it is a fair deal and a good track for folks at most levels!

Tyrone Hills seems a perfect golfing venue for league play. If you play golf then perhaps you’ll get the gist of my comment. League play is golf’s terminology for«I’ll get the 12-pak iced down and you go get the cart. This next 9-holes is a great excuse for drinking on a week night.» Tyrone had its beginnings as a farm. So don’t worry too much about losing golf balls unless you pull/hook ‘em into the out-of-bounds hay fields or hit ‘em onto the roads. The fairways are hard & fast, the greens are easy to hit to(accept for a few perched up on knobs). You often get caught in the crossfire of shots inbound from other teeing areas. And the bunkers are shallow and a bit rocky. I would put Tyrone in a category of golfers who have learner’s permits or might need to avoid state and local law enforcement officers post-round: DUI would be huge cash cow if someone cared to set up a «trap». I played Tyrone about 4 weeks ago and just now decided to write. Funny thing is … I had fun with some family members who needed all the fairway room in the world to play, 2 fairways over or not.
