This is the first time I’ve ever reviewed anything on Unilocal as I’m just not the type to give a bad review, even if it’s warranted. However, I felt absolutely compelled to review this bar and to do so negatively. First, a little Background: It’s your average ‘Dive’ bar. Gets a little shady at night, but pretty much exactly what you’d expect from a local sports bar on Pac Hwy. Pretty good food, staff is attentive and nice for the most part. The owner is a very sweet lady that occasionally works the bar and always has a friendly question about how your day is going. I worked nearby and visit the Barnes and Noble across the street quite frequently, so it’s nice to have a few drinks afterwards occasionally, which I’d always do at the Star Bar. There was, however, one particular employee that I noticed had an incredibly bad attitude. A short, dark-haired lady bartender who I’d notice had a very domineering personality and enjoyed attempting to control and even be incredibly rude to customers. Although to be fair, sometimes she was in the right. It wasn’t ridiculous, but it was very off-putting and she made it very clear that she saw the bar was her personal fiefdom. I went there very occasionally for about a year and never once drew her ire, until the last time I was there, in a situation which I’ve outlined below. The last time I went there with a friend, there was a shooting(Yes, an actual shooting, or at least a gun being fired. Never got the actual details) in the parking lot in back. Cops flooded the scene and had secured the area, but that wasn’t quite good enough for the bartender, who even twenty minutes afterwards, seemed absolutely bent on making as big of a deal as possible about it so she could lord over everyone, even after things had died down. We were already on our way out, so looking outside and seeing things were under control, we made our way to the exit. However, when we went to leave, she marched up to us with an air of authority and demanded that we stay until she deemed it was safe as if we’d challenged her authority, even though practically the entire Federal Way Police Force was on the scene and had been there for quite some time. I explained that there were at least 10 police officers outside just milling around and that the situation was clearly under control enough for us to head to our vehicle, unless otherwise directed by police. Instead of allowing us to pass or even explaining why she thought that would be a bad idea in a reasonable tone, she berated us and absolutely demanded we stay inside, even going as far as to block the exit. When I suggested that I’d ask the officer standing directly outside the door if it was ok to go to the our car, she took that as another challenge to her authority and went off on me, not mincing words. When it was clear to her that her attempt to control us by being loud and dominant wasn’t going to work and I calmly told her that if she wasn’t going to let us go through that door, that we’d simply exit via the front entrance and walk around the building, as she was still blocking my exit, she was fuming. She yelled at me as I turned around and quite literally gave me a slight push in my back as I walked away. I have never experienced anything like that before. Frankly, it was unbelievable. This situation was about her ego and her need to control, which I’d been witness to time and time again on the occasions that I’d visit that place. Haven’t been back since and not interesting in going back ever again because of this incident. Bartenders have a difficult job and I respect the fact that they have to keep positive control over things, but this lady is absolutely insane. Again, this is just an example of the type of behavior I’d see from her time and time again there. Think twice before going there, unless your interested in being treated like that or being assaulted by the staff. Especially when there are so many amazing places in the area.

This place is totally rad. It is a «dive bar» with many regulars who do karaōke. They are all awesome! I was blown away at the amount of talented singers this place draws. It is always a great time here. The food and drinks and cheap, the atmosphere is exciting, and the games are fun! I would suggest this place for the local experience. It’s really awesome and the people are so friendly. 10⁄10 would recommend.

Heard recently that they were giving away free drinks just to get business back here. I have no problem with free drinks but it’s pretty pathetic and I also don’t think that the state liquor board would approve.

Ok, ok, ok — yes, this place is on Pac Highway(locals will know what I mean) — and, yes figuring out where to park for the first time blows — but, once you get in here, it’s not too shabby! First, it’s not a family place. It’s a bar… a dive bar to be exact. They serve beer, liquor and bar food. All reasonably priced, I may add. We used to come here once a week for their dart tournaments, and the turnout was always pretty good. There is a digital jukebox and weekend karaōke as well as skee-ball and bar stool bingo! There are quite a few regulars, so, if you choose to make some new bar friends, it’s likely you’ll see them again. :) The bartenders/cocktail waitresses are really nice too. The place isn’t sparkling clean, the bathrooms are in a mild disrepair — but, nothing that would gross anyone out at all or pose a safety concern. I’ve never been here other than at night, so I can’t comment on their daytime offerings or customer service. If you’re looking for a place that you can grab a drink with your buddies and not worry about being hit on by a bunch of losers, or about dressing up for anyone — this is your place. Come as you are and enjoy a pitcher of beer, a game a darts, and some good old fashioned karaōke!

Cheesy fries(not that nacho cheese junk but REAL cheese). Cheesy fries with bacon. All with a side of ranch. Hands down best cheesy fries around! Their bugers and drinks are pretty spectacular, too! Settle down for a nice Thursday(or Friday, or Saturday, or Sunday) night of yummy grub and singing! They also have dart and ski ball tournaments.

There is no «Grill» at the Star Bar & Grill it is only a bar. No children are allowed. The parking is in the back of the building so one must drive down the street through an alley to get to the back of the building. The bar is dive! I bought a voucher from and it is a joke! I cannot use it because I cannot take my family into the Bar & Grill because it is a BAR not a Grill! So ridiculous this place should not be labeled a restaurant or a Grill because it is neither. It is misleading to call it a Grill.

Came here on a random night with a girlfriend and had one of the best times. It was a bit shady at first as it was tucked by a gas station and kind of dark but the bartender was great and karaōke was so much fun! We might be making this a regular hang out.
