This was my go to, favorite restaurant for a long time. But, the owner has a real issue with trust. You see, if you pay with a debit card, she is the only one who can ring you up. None of the waiters can ring you up? Yes. Inconvenient? Yes. I waited over 29 minutes at the register along with three other couples while the owner was in the back pounding pork and cooking. Needless to say, after complaining twice, I left. Yep, $ 75 bill, gone. That’s what you get for not trusting your employees. Now, we go to Das Bavarian House and get treated like royalty.

The owner of this restuarant is a fantastic chef! She cooks all the food herself, homemade! Everything is from scratch its amazing. Yes it may take you a little longer than most places to recieve your food but its worth the wait i promise you. The jagersnitzle and Spatzle with mushroom gravy is my all time favorite. I could eat it everyday if my diet allowed. Joanna the owner is very personal with all her customers, its amazing. Definitely worth a try! Oh they also have some good german beer!

Hopefully this review will change here soon. I just got back from Germany and have been missing the food. I have NEVER seen this place open and I’ve been by the shop about 5 or 6 times.

As a German native, the food is GREAT, service is great, and for the price a filling meal. Home made Cakes, Black Forrest Cherry, AWESOME, reminds me of home!

This is a cool little spot and no major issues. I have been to better authentic German places and I may have a higher standards since my wife is from Germany and I spent a considerable amount of time in Europe. The bad: lots of flies, house salad was nowhere close to a German salad, floor was sticky, and the place reeked of frying grease. It was like an old school German guesthouse. My order was also messed up(asked for chicken but got pork). The good; great German beer, friendly service, and the schnitzel. While the sauce was not that great and a bit watery, the schnitzel and spätzle were fresh and delicious. I am sure the other dishes are better. I do not have issues and would give this place another try, just not the best I have seen, so the bar is high.

The moment you meet Ms. Johanna, the owner, it’s like you are part of her family. The food is «all» homemade yumminess! Make sure you leave room for dessert or take a piece to go… it’s s00000 good! Just remember you are not at a fast food restaurant, nor at one of the chains where things are premade-she does not make it until it is ordered! It is all worth the wait ! A good way to enjoy time with some friends! Come out and have meal a few laughs and just relax. On Friday & Saturday Nights she has karioki! I love to go here because it’s one place you are not made to feel like they want you to hurry up and leave. If you try it be sure when you check out tell Ms. Johanna hello! Hope you love it as much as our family does!

It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t judge a book by its cover. If you’re looking for authentic German food in Fayetteville, look no further! Taste of Europe is a quaint little place with amazing, fresh made food and baked goods. Every dish is made to order and absolutely delicious. The owner is extremely sweet and funny and is also the cook. She really tops off the whole experience and makes you feel so welcome.

I have gone here a few times and it has always been a good experience. But on Saturday night it was awful. It was around 5pm when we got there and seated ourselves. The hostess got our drink orders and got us a basket of bread. So far normal experience. Then it went downhill… fast. The waitress came by about 15 minutes later and after a «what do you want?» We ordered our entrees. That was the last time we saw our waitress. There were 2 other tables so it wasn’t crowded by any means. We never got a refill on our drinks or bread and were never checked on by the staff to see how we were doing. After waiting 45 minutes we decided to leave. We asked for our bill and the owner was very apologetic and gave us our food to go and didn’t charge us. Not a great experience but the owner did a good job trying to fix the problem.

Looks like a hole in the wall on the outside and inside but you won’t be disappointed in the food. I was impressed on the portion size as well as the tenderness of the food. The schnitzel was tender and could almost be cut with your fork. The cucumber salad was also amazing along with the fresh bread. Would definitely recommend as long as you have some time. It did take a little time for service and our meals but it was worth it in the end.

I think this is really a cool place. I have been to Germany several times and it is not as good as the food I had there but it is really decent food none the less. The owner I found to be engaging and friendly. The bread is not delicious but it serves its purpose. The schnitzel is really great! The spatzel is not what I came to expect from Germany but the cabbage was spot on and the beer is distinctly German. Overall I think this is a really good date place because the décor is awesome and the staff is friendly and there are some really fantastic dishes. Some of the dishes are lacking however which is why they do not get 5 stars.

Quaint little Resteraunt, service was pleasant and quick. We had the opportunity to use a little of our German(and she understood us) Our food was good. The salad was sadly made with American produce,(but that cannot be helped) our bread was great, the chicken schnitzel was cooked perfectly and was a generous portion. We were so full there was no room for dessert, but it looked great and we will swing in and pick a treat up to try another time.

When traveling or exploring further into my town of residence I am dependent first and foremost upon the internet. Unilocal has been a great resource for me personally, and as a result I do my best to give businesses the opportunity to earn the review I post. I know how online reviews can hold weight. Based upon the experience we had at this restaurant, the proprietor has earned every lacking star. My husband would be leaving the next morning for a training mission. After months of pining for German cuisine, we finally made our way to Taste of Europe so that he could have a departing treat. We arrived to a sign on the door reading«Be back at 5:00.» The time was 5:07PM, but the waitress seated on the bench outside assured us and our fellow potential patrons that«she would be here shortly.» What were minutes after a few months? A blonde woman arrived and hurriedly entered the restaurant about ten minutes later, and everyone trickled in behind. We were told to sit where we desire and a booth was selected. Quick inspection revealed a perfectly campy collection of steins and Schwarzwald wood carvings. The ambiance alluded to a perfect spot that would typically go unnoticed due to its lack of flare, but most certainly could deliver. The beer selection was delightfully authentic(Weihenstephaner hefe is a perpetual favorite) and the menu seemed to truly be German with some nods to American preferences. Both being of German origin(his grandparents, my father), we happily sipped our beverages and eagerly anticipated our orders. We did not expect five star cuisine, but we were both beyond disappointed with the quality. The bread was clearly not from an in house bakery, but passable. The iceberg greens for the salad were limp and drenched in dressing. His jägerschnitzel tasted of frying oil and the sour black cherries typical for schwarzwälder huhnerbrutsche were cocktail maraschino cherries. The most tragic of all was the spätzle. There was little flavor. We would have been better off with the package at home. Okay, let’s be clear. We are not people who enjoy sending food back. In fact, I dislike it greatly. We gently and politely told the waitress of our disinterest in the food, and she offered to tell the owner because«they would have to settle» the matter. There was no issue with that on our part, and I said that we had no desire to cause a ruckus. We waited what seemed to be a reasonable time(both waitresses came to our table twice to see if the owner had spoken with us) and then walked to the register. We were ready to pay full price if it meant we could leave and continue our night elsewhere. We stood there waiting whilst the blonde ferried salads to another table. She returned and quickly became verbally aggressive. She accused us of being children, upsetting her other patrons(but no scene had been created), not knowing fresh cuisine when it was made from scratch, and not being familiar with German food. So I responded in German«Wir sind deutsch» meaning«We are German.» In my best calming voice I tried to explain that we were just unhappy with the food and wanted to pay for the beers. She continued. Across the wood encasing the register she got in my face and told me of the years of schooling, her years of experience, and the many restaurants she has owned. She even went so far as to declare that in all this time we were the first to complain. Not once did we raise our voices. The scene was entirely hers to stage, and what a production! In summation, she stormed off to the kitchen and we left $ 10 at the register. I walked over to the kind and understanding waitress, handed her the tip, and told her she deserved to work in a better place. I hope that we see her soon at any other local restaurant.

This is an unassuming German restaurant with an awesome owner and delicious food! Let me start by saying, we loooove German food! We had Weinerschnitzel with spaetzle, a sausage and sauerkraut stew special, and 2 Westaphalen hefeweizen. We also took home two slices of German chocolate cake. The dinner was delicious and the portions were MASSIVE! The schnitzel could’ve used fresh mushrooms rather than canned, but thats okay. I’d take it either way! The spatzle was just soooo yummy, I couldn’t stop eating it. Yes, they’re just tiny little bread dumplings, but they’re oh so good! The German chocolate cake left little to be desired though. Have you ever had that taste in something so good that you know is not supposed to be part of the dish? Well, this German chocolate was rich, chocolatey, and delicious… except it was sitting in a refrigerator that probably hasn’t been deodorized in a really long time(if ever). The cake ended up having a plastic-like, moldy aftertaste which just ruined the whole experience. It would’ve been great if it weren’t for that. Oh well. I guess I’ll just come back for the hefe and the schnitzel from now on.

Finally talked the husband into going to dinner here tonight. I have been wanting to go here for MONTHS. Appearance: 5 Stars-VERY CLEAN!!! Service: 5 Stars– Tasty, hot, seasoned nicely, I really have only a couple of German Restaurants to compare this to… and I wouldn’t know real German Food because I have never been there but I really enjoyed the meal. I had Chicken Schnitzel dinner. The husband had the Pork Schnitzel. We were given a basket with fresh delicious bread(rye, wheat and a french type with whipped butted) before we even ordered. EIther she knew she had never seen us before or she does this to everyone but she informed us what brand of soft drinks they served and offered sweet/un-sweet tea before she asked what we would like – nice touch! We were served a green mixed salad(photo attached) that was very tasty, then the meal was HUGE(photo attached). I had ordered potato salad, and she caught that as she sat my plate down and I looked at the fries on the plate, so she volunteered to bring me a side of potato salad before I could even open my mouth to say it was OK I was not upset because the fries looked delicious(and they were! Hot, fresh and not greasy). It was a very nice meal, and the service was WONDERFUL. Now let me say this it took a good 45 minutes to get the food from the time we ordered, but the relaxing comfortable, CLEAN dinning room was nice and even though the husband was«antsy» and«fidgety» I enjoyed it. New drinks arrived as the first were barely half gone, There was always someone asking how we were and if everything was ok. In fact the husband scooted his salad plate to the edge of the table and she asked him if he had not liked it. I was tempted to tell her the fact that it was green and had to be eaten with a fork was out of his comfort zone. No Golden Arches and not deep fried and covered with processed cheese on it is NOT in his food group. I HIGHLYHIGHLY recommend you go try this place. Super slow service but worth every minute. They had Karaōke on Fridays from 9PM to 2AM and a nice bar area… sounds like a plan to me. Check out her cakes in the bakery case just inside the door, The looked AMAZING!!! Next time I will go earlier and get a sandwich so I can try a slice of cake.
