Not one to want to spend outrageous money on a cake, usually opting to simply let Betty Crocker do it for me, when it came time to get one for my daughter’s graduation it was time to make sure it was special. Net Net: Shawn the Cake Lady did an excellent job in creating a cake that tasted awesome and was about as close to my vision as was humanly possible… all for an affordable price. See other samples: My daughter is anything but traditional so getting a standard yellow cake or pound cake just wouldn’t do… particularly if I was paying $ 60-$ 80 bucks for a cake… $ 1 a slice. My goal was a batik icing, with symbols from her wall hangings, and tye dye inside, with red velvet providing the red, and a grad hat mini cake of just red velvet. I was a little nervous about the smooth icing that goes on all these custom cakes, thinking it would taste like plastic. I should have never worried. Shawn talked with me on the phone then even met with me to see my pictures I had found to describe what I was looking for. Because my cake was so non-traditional, we were both crossing fingers it would turn out like I had envisioned. Although the printing was small, and the colors in the batik and tye dye ended up not being as differentiating in the final cooked version as originally anticipated, the most important part was right on! The cake tasted FABULOUS! So many people came up to me just to tell me how good it was. So even though I had to explain why it was ‘red & yellow”, my daughter ‘got it’ and really appreciated the effort. She knew the wall hanging we were trying to imitate and I’m not sure Anyone else could have done any better. Shawn is someone you can trust to get as close as humanly possible to what your vision is… and because she has a photography business too… she can bundle taking pictures of your special event with providing your special cake and cupcakes. But Beware… Refrigerate whatever is left over. It is so FRESH, 1 it won’t taste near as good, but it will also go bad if left out for more than a day. We were so disappointed because it was just so good wanted to eat it for breakfast and every day for dessert!
