Wow! I am stunned. My husband and I were regular customers at the old location of pies on. We thought it had closed and were delighted to find out they had just actually moved. We loved them for their salads. They would come on a big platter, even the small one was large enough to share. Today we started off by ordering a small salad, the $ 9.95 salad. From our past experience that would be a fair price for the amount of salad you would get. What we got was what looked like a side salad. I asked the waitress what had happened to the salad size and she told us, that because«the owner«was there, that they had to serve the sizes he said. Had he not been there then the salad sizes would be bigger. After she left my husband proceeded to serve himself. I was too floored to eat it. The waitress later came back with the pizza. I said to her., «let me ask you something, would you pay almost $ 10 for a salad like this? «she said no, which is why I gave you a discount on it. I really wanted to ask if she cold tell me what days and hours the owner is there. The pizza was almost the same as before, but not quite. If and when we return we will only be ordering the pizza but I think that won’t by anytime soon.

Here’s the story as told by «Steve» who claims to now be running this place. Old owner«ran out» on landlord«stiffing landlord, employee’s and vendors». Landlord, in an effort to recover his rent loss is now trying to run the place but PRETEND it’s the original place. Problem is… old owner left with the«secret sauce».

I was surprised to read negative reviews… I love this place! The Greek salad is yum! The pizza is the best. I was so distraught when they closed, but so glad the new location is even closer to home. Pizza is my favorite & theirs is just gooy & yummy.

This is Pies-On Pizza version 2.0 it seems. The original location closed almost two years ago and this location recently opened in February although their website and Facebook page are completely lacking any such news. Now the original location made the best non-traditional pizza using a thick crust almost like a deep-dish style. It was simply put the best pizza I’ve had in Georgia. Now this location is nice enough, not as ‘quaint’ as the old location, with a lot more room for diners. Staff seems inexperienced and very new to handling waiting tables but they are friendly enough. The atmosphere has been brought over with the same color scheme and brick wall facades here and there. The menus have been printed on paper and laminated in a loose plastic, definitely on the simple end of refinement but not completely divey. We ordered the Chicken BBQ fries, a cheese pizza, and a Greek pizza with red sauce added as this was our pretty typical order in the past minus a greek salad. The pizza was tasty and the sauce seemingly the same but the crust was… off… the edge wasn’t the crusty ridge, there was more pillowy dough on the bottom, although the crust was crisp overall. It was close but not quite the same. Maybe this is the new ovens, maybe it’s a lack of training with the kitchen staff, or maybe it’s a cheap clone by a former staff member that simply picked up where original owners left off. Or maybe sometimes you can’t recapture the magic once it’s lost. We intend to go back despite not being quite the same as it is still good pizza and whips the pants off of every chain you can name. I just hope they are working the kinks out and one day they can reclaim the magic.
