This place is unbelievable. I have been here four or five times. The pizza and salads are outstanding. The beer selection is informed and fresh. This place could hold its own in Brooklyn or Chicago. Plop it down in the middle of nowhere, and it is a beacon of culinary light, luring foodies off of Route 19, and away from the architectural marvel that is the New River Gorge Bridge. Come, traveler, and marvel at a five star pizza and beer mecca, in Fayetteville, West Virginia.

Once upon a time, there was an enthusiastic foodie and her boyfriend in search of good grub in West Virginia. While sitting in a burrito + brew bar in Charleston, they chatted with their bartender who was eager to talk about what was worth their appetites. He grabbed a coaster at the bar, and on the back of it he wrote: Pies & Pints — Fayetteville –Wings –½ Chicken + Gouda –½ Grape + Gorgonzola, add bacon He told the couple not to lose the coaster and sent them on a West Virginian foodie quest. Their journey took them 50 miles southeast up high elevations, to a tiny town with the third longest arch span bridge in the world… and the original location of Pies and Pints Pizzeria, acclaimed as the best in the state. The couple walked into the establishment and noticed there was a specialty pizza of Asian pears, caramelized onions, bacon, and goat cheese. Although they felt obligated to honor the instructions on the coveted coaster, they also were intrigued by the specialty combo. Did it deserve to be on ½ of their soon-to-be large pie? They had come so far already… Sitting down at the pizzeria’s dimly-lit bar, the enthusiastic foodie took a deep breath and made an executive decision: wings, ½ grape + gorgonzola + bacon, and…½ of the Asian pear special. Fruits on both sides of the pizza?! It was a bold move, but she was a bold eater. There was no turning back now. First came their char-grilled wings. The foodie snatched one up immediately and took a bite of savory chicken marinated in garlic, cilantro, citrus, and sriracha. She took another. Then another. Pretty soon she found herself unable to put the chicken wing down until she had sucked the bone dry. Flavor like that came seldom in tiny birds. How did Pies & Pints make something so small so irresistible? Just as the last bone had been licked clean, out came the 16″ pie. The couple looked at each other wide-eyed. Whoa baby! Set in front of them was a loaded circumference of ½ red grapes, gorgonzola, bacon, and rosemary, ½ Asian pear, goat cheese, bacon, and caramelized onion. Without hesitation they lurched forward to the pie, trying to grab the first piece first. What happened next was a gluttonous fatty feast. They ate and ate and ate all the sweet, savory, and cheese one needed on a hand-tossed olive oil and kosher salt crust until there was nothing left on the pizza plate. Finally catching a breath after inhaling so much ‘za, the enthusiastic foodie could feel the paralyzing effects of a food coma coming on. She had been so focused on her insanely delicious specialty pies that she had forgotten that she still needed to transport herself to their hotel. She frantically hailed down their bartender for the check, knowing it would only be a matter of time before the two of them turned comatose. Walking home without a to-go box, the enthusiastic foodie and her boyfriend wobbled to their hotel with their arms linked, feeling accomplished that they had completed the West Virginian foodie quest. If you dare to embark on such a journey, remember the coaster… and bring a wheelbarrow so someone can maneuver you out of Pies & Pints.

Excellent pizzeria. Choose from many unique specialty pizzas. If you have trouble deciding just have them split it. You can get half the pizza one way and half the other. The fire pit creates a wonderful crust and topping are always fresh. I’m docking them a point because I think they are a bit overpriced. Their prices rival any city’s pizza price. Also, the quality of the pie isn’t always consistent. However, it’s probably the best pie in the state.

Good selection of beer and a wide selection of pizza toppings with several unusual ones(Gouda). Pizza itself was merely average. Went here while on a whitewater trip. Worth checking out but nothing to write home about.

After a day rafting on the New river with ACE Adventures we were seriously hangry! Got two large ½ and ½ for the four of us and took half home for leftovers. Given that is seriously difficult to get into this place(Go early!) planning for a second meal is a smart move. Classic — good but to much anise in the sausage for my taste. Garlic Mushroom — Holy fungus! was that good. Red grape Gorgonzola — Surprisingly delicious Heirloom(Tomatoes) — Good The service was very good. The beer selection, as the name implies, was very good.

Everything was great! We ate two large pizzas with each of the four halves being a different kind. Margarita, Cuban pork, Gorgonzola chicken and steak. Each kind was delicious as were the beers we ordered. Our waitress, Ruth was a polite and added to the experience. I recommend eating here to anyone traveling through town or anyone who wants specialty pizza.

Great for the pizza and non pizza lover. Outdoor seating in a great wooded corner of Fayetteville and plenty of indoor seating. They also have a place for the kids to play within view of your table! This visit we had salads(family style), sublime wings, and a half and half margarita pizza. The ceaser and Greek were maybe the best salads I had in WV. They also make their own croutons… and while the pizza was worthy of its own review a highlight for me was the charred, dry rub sriacha wings with homemade blue cheese. You’ll go back just for that. And before 4p all apps are $ 2.00 off. Great place to unwind. Afterwards, visit Water Stone outdoors(open til 8) see that review.

The best pizza in Fayetteville, West Virginia! Ok, that’s not saying much… BUT this pizza is actually quite good. I had one with: sriracha marinated shrimp, fresh garlic, red onions, fresh pineapple, scallions, basil, mint, cilantro & sriracha aioli($ 14 small was more than enough for 1 hungry person). There’s also a playground in the back!

Pies & Pints is pretty much an institution in Fayetteville, and with good reason: They serve tasty pizzas and also a good selection of beers, many being ones that are hard to find anywhere, much less in rural West Virginia. Given that pizza and beer are things nearly everyone likes but especially, it seems, outdoors-minded tourists here on holiday, Pies & Pints is a natural for the area. The interior is nice, clean, pretty modern and what you’d expect: casual but you can tell there is money and care both behind it and the planning of the restaurant. The service is prompt but, at least in my experience, somewhat impersonal and brisk, probably because on the Friday night I was there they were quite busy. The pizza is very good though, and again, they have an awesome list of beer, plus they offer some sandwiches and non-pizza options. I believe that Pies & Pints is a chain – a small chain only in the region, but that would make sense for how uniform and precise things appeared. While warm and welcoming, there was just a slight sense of the experience being impersonal, yet the food(and beer!) still was perfectly fine and I’d certainly return.

This was EXACTLY what I needed after a weekend of climbing. We came early for a late lunch/early dinner for pizza, and were promptly seated in the back room. The front room seems somewhat rustic with a long bar, and the back room is very laid-back. Our server was very friendly and patient with us(and a fellow climber!). She kept topping off our water, since we were pretty dehydrated after being in the sun all day. They have an interesting assortment of pizzas, some of which are on the more creative size. We ordered a couple beers, and got a large pizza with 2 separate toppings: the Cuban and the Sriracha Shrimp. Both were very good! I liked the crust — it had the right ratio of crush to pizza and was crispy, and thin, but not to the point of falling apart. The pork on the cuban was smoky and well flavored, but balanced by the cilantro. Overall, planning to come back here the next time I’m here on a climbing trip.

If I were in some kind of war, or ambush style attack, I would simply use one of their salads to drape myself in leafy camoflouge, they are that big. The pizza is also delicious. Me likey.

A perfect spot to stop on our long ride from Florida to Buffalo. The service was quick and friendly. Good atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. Now on to the food. While I’m a purist when it comes to wings, I’ve heard way too many good things not to try their Char-Grilled Hot Wings. Dry rubbed and marinated with sriracha, citrus, garlic & cilantro, then perfectly paired with a creamy gorganzola dipping sauce. I thought my grandmother was kidding when she said her favorite pizza had grapes on it. «Grape tomatoes?», I asked. «No, red grapes», she replied. But the Grape and Gorgonzola pizza was amazing. I decided to continue on the sriracha theme and order the Sriracha Shrimp. A perfect blend of sweet and spicy with the pineapple and sriracha aioli and topped of with fresh cilantro. Next time if I don’t have 7 more hours of driving ahead I’ll sample some of their awesome beers selection.

Amazing pizza, appetizers and deserts! This place is a one of a kind! I’m not big on pizza, heck I don’t even like pizza but this pizza just wow! I would definitely go back! I hope they expand to south florida soon! My husband and I had one small chicken Gouda and one small spinach and it was just simply mouth watering. I will definitely be going back before we head back home!

A must-do for climbers around the New and even worth driving to from Summersville Lake. If you did not have a send beer with you on the wall, come here to celebrate! Always great tap selections that mix in local options with a diverse range of quality beers from all over. A personal favorite that they tend to have is the Rogue Dead Guy. My fav pizza is always the mushroom garlic. You can get this at most pizza places but it is truly exceptional here and a common favorite among the climbers I meet in the area. There is also the steak and mushroom which actually has REAL steak… no thin slices like on a philly cheesesteak… REALJUICYCHUNKS of cut steak. Lastly I will note the thai pizza. Not sure what makes it thai… but this is a really cool pie that mixies in chedderish cheeses and lots of coconut with shrimp. bizarre to have such a sweet pizza but it really works and makes for a fun experience. Tip: it gets REALLY crowded. if you want to sit with a group just come put your name in and get on their text list. it may be an hour wait, but you can hang out wherever nearby and wait for a text when the table is ready.

Holy Moly! This place is the bees knees! My friend and I came here Memorial Day Weekend after a day of climbing. The pizza here is delicious! Probably the best I’ve had! My friend and I shared a large pizza– half mushroom garlic and half eggplant & red pepper. I’m not a fan of eggplant, but it wasn’t bad. The mushroom pizza, on the other hand, is really good. It also has onions and feta. I highly recommend that! It’s where all the cool climbers go after climbing so it gets packed pretty quick. If you are a small party, it’ll be quicker to grab a spot by the bar.
