The perfect date night spot in the summer. Catch TWO movies for about $ 8 per person(adult). You just cant beat that. It feels so retro and fun. Pull your truck in backwards to catch the movie from the bed of the truck, or pull in forward to watch from the comfort of your car. The snack shop looks untouched — its definitely a walk back in time. The bathrooms are very clean. They play the old commercials during the intermission.

I am from out of town but raised here. It is a pleasure to revisit a fast disappearing Americana activity. I saw Maleficent last year. My experience was excellent. Although I ended up on the end of a row I was able to get a clear view of the screen and I used my car radio to listen to the sound. My ‘neighbors’ we’re courteous and helped me settle in. I found NO negatives in my evening. A bargain movie, at my convenience, with my own snacks, dressed casually, I dont understand how there could be any complaints.

Went for a retro experience, got a never ending cloud of cigarette smoke, rude people and barely visible screen. Now I see why theaters went indoors.

A classic for Fayetteville. They tend to show good movies and most people are friendly. Be careful if you have a hatchback, though, since it’s policy for you to close the trunk(even though it’s a the same height or lower than an SUV or mini van trunk). We managed to find a spot closer to the side that had some hatchbacks popped and people didn’t mind a bit. Great for dates, great for groups, great to be a guy — cause the women’s bathroom line during intermission is staggering.

They literally don’t build ‘em like this anymore. The Hwy 112 Drive-In Theater is said to be one of the last of its kind constructed in the U.S. The governor at the time — Bill Clinton— was on hand for the theater’s grand opening. He probably came to town just so he could drop in at his favorite NW Arkansas eatery called«AQ Chicken” – but that’s another review. The last time my wife and I were there, the theater offered customers a choice of using their own car radio(tuned to an unused part of the FM dial) for true stereo sound or a pole-mounted speaker that hangs on your car’s side window. We opted for the latter and though we were watching a new feature film, just having that old metal speaker in the car transported me back to the days of my youth. It was pure nostalgia. Of course, a visit to the snack bar is part of the experience. We took our grandkids and were promptly reminded of how times have changed — they couldn’t see the movie from their perch in the rear of the car! Back in the day, our car had the old-fashioned bench seat making it easier to watch the movie from that vantage. Suddenly, I’m feeling very creaky… I would have given the theater one more star but they are only open on weekends during the summer, a policy I wish they would change.
