So, let me tell you about the night I almost killed my sister in front of Jo-Anns. I’ll set the scene. We were in Syracuse for my niece’s Scottish dance competition(she whooped ass, by the way). Apparently, you need some silver string stuff to tie up the vest part of a dance costume. Well, we were a little short on this silver string stuff. As in, no one had packed it and we were now going to risk life and limb to find some before the competition in the morning. We’re desperate, and Jo-Anns has the answer. But it’s 8:45 and Jo-Anns closes at 9. TomTom tells me that Jo-Anns is 18 minutes away. It’s a dark and rainy night, and we’re hauling ass down whatever roads TomTom was telling me to take. Traffic signals and signs become optional; changing lanes becomes a military maneuver executed with extreme force; and even I, the driver, am holding onto the ohshit bar as I squeal around corners. We get to Jo-Anns at 8:59:999. The light is still on! We tear across the parking lot, doing about 90. My sister unbuckles her seatbelt and has her hand on the handle to open the door. I screech around to put her door as close to the front door as possible. In so doing, I inadvertently cause her to open the passenger door as I’m turning hard to the left. The lady in Jo-Anns is cluelessly locking the door as my sister’s torso hangs out the door of my moving car and I practically mess my pants, thinking that I’m about to commit manslaughter over a piece of string. Luckily, my sister has the grip(and the vocal prowess) of a howler monkey. She clung to the seat until I’d mostly come to a stop and then went and knocked on the window until the Jo-Anns lady let her in to buy the string. We made off with 4 yards of silver string which we then braided into a nice little tie for my niece. That string then went on to complement her costume and her slew of gold medals quite nicely. Sadly, this Jo-Anns is closing to move elsewhere. My sister was chatting it up with the lady who let her in, and she said that they have a sparse stock because they’re just selling everything that’s in that place before they move somewhere else. It’s a little heartbreaking for us, as this particular location holds such fond memories for us. At least we have my niece’s trophy and her picture in the paper to remind us of this heartwarming family bonding experience.

I went there to pick up a vase and was in and out in under 10 mintues. Good selection of items and friendly service. It may be a little pricey but if you are in need of any type of crafts this is the place to go.
