I called Cape Fear and got an appointment right away for a quote on a complete new HVAC unit. Tim came out the next day. But first let me give some background on our situation. We needed a new downstairs HVAC unit. I called over a dozen different places. Only three could make it to an appointment. So right off the bat only Trane dealers took the time and cared enough to want our business. Our system had been out for 10 days and dealing with our Home warranty company and there representatives is never easy or fast. Our home warranty wanted to finally replace they system with a cheap heat pump that was to minimum standards. So we instead asked for a cash out value. We decided to purchase a new system of our choice. So we where going into our second week on no heat or air and we wanted all the dealers to be there before the weekend. We wanted the weekend to decide. So Tim was the salesman/manager who came out to our house. He was very professional and knowledgeable about Trane products. He did a complete assessment of our heating and air needs. He had a few quotes on different Trane systems for us that evening. What was reassuring that all three companies who came out found that there was a deficiency with our duct work under the house. They all said that the two return air ducts where to small and starving our system. And new larger duct line leading out to our sunroom would bring in more air to help with the heating and cooling. So Tim worked up a quote with new duct work, new air handler, and outside unit. It came with Trane’s excellent warranty program. 12 year compressor, 10 year coil, 10 year parts, and a 10 year Labour warranty was all included. We decided to get the 18SEER system that is fully wireless connected communicative heat pump with a Nexia Home Intelligence thermostat. Less than six days after calling Cape Fear we had Stephen the lead technician and two other installers show up at 9am and they finished right around 5pm. They did an excellent job, they cleaned up after themselves and Stephen answered a lot of my questions. They also sealed all my vents, and they also took the time to run through my new thermostat with me. Thank you Cape Fear for the quality work, professional service and caring about our comfort.

I purchased the end-of-summer special to have my AC checked because it is 8 years old and I have never real had any maintenance on it. I thought it would be a good investment after the peak of the summer heat so I purchased the deal and was immediately contacted by someone to pick a date for the service. I was able to pick 3 dates as preferences and Sue Hicks and Megan did a wonderful job setting up my appointment and I was set. One day before my appointment, both of my thermostats suddenly died and I knew it had something to do with the electrical wiring because the batteries as a back up turned on the thermostat. The problem was that the thermostat was not talking to the AC unit so my air went off completely. The timing was actually perfect because I had my appointment for the AC maintenance the next day. Stephen R.(Steve) was my service provider and he could not have been any friendlier or more professional. He was super-punctual and listened as I explained what happened to my AC unit. He started looking at the furnace in the attic and knew immediately what the problem was. He took a picture of it for me on his phone so that I did not have to go into the sweltering attic. The switch on the furnace was cracked and the wires were no longer connected. He explained everything to me and then showed me the pricing to have this switch replaced. After he solved that problem, he proceeded to start the inspection and cleaning of the actual AC unit outside. He used a hose to clean the unit, took it apart and worked outside in the heat for about an hour and a half. After the diagnostic report, he told me that my capacitors were not looking too good and it would be a good idea to either have them replaced now or wait but they weren’t in top condition. I asked him how much it would cost to also replace those and he gave me a quote. I decided to have those replaced and the switch because I just want everything to work and not worry about problems down the road. Steve installed the new capacitors and took my payment information and everything was great. My air is back on and cooling down the house and I am so happy with the service. I also have Steve’s card and email in case I need to get a hold of him and he provided the best service I have experienced with Angie’s List.
