I was working north of Tuscaloosa for a few months this summer. One day I decided to take a drive up to Fayette to see what it was like. I drove around town looking for somewhere to eat. There were a couple of rib places, but I wanted takeout so I could eat and drive. I almost stopped at Sonic. Then, on the way out of town heading back south, I passed an old gas station that has been turned into a restaurant. I’m pretty sure I got the name right. I can’t find it on the web. I’m also not exactly sure about the addess, although it’s close. It has a 1950s Elvis theme. Nice place. Nice people. I ordered two cheeseburgers to go. The man said, «Are you sure you wouldn’t like to stay and have some homemade spaghetti?» I almost said yes, but I was in a hurry. Just as the cheeseburgers came out, they brought out an order of french fries for another customer. They looked like they were hand made. I almost ordered some, but didn’t want to wait. The cheeseburgers were very good. Hand made, juicy, good sized, reasonably priced. I’m going back to Alabama in the spring and I’ll drive up to Fayette again to try the fries.
