One of the best burgers that I have ever had in my entire life! For dessert, 6 layer chocolate cake and a double shot of espresso. Great service too!

Great burger on the north side of the lake — that is the short take. After a day of climbing, my buddies and I hot tailed it out of Holcomb in time to make it here before they closed(too early on Sunday by the way). It was worth it. Two of us had burger varieties, the third had the portobello mushroom burger. Fries would have been nice, but the coleslaw was interesting with the pineapple. On top of it all, they have a pretty good beer list as well.

Great spot for breakfast when in Big Bear! Love Fawnskin, it is nice and quiet. The café has great food and service. Neat little park across the street for little ones. I enjoyed an incredible bacon and cheddar omelette, my wife an order of French toast, half I think. We both really enjoyed breakfast!

A must try if you’re visiting big bear lake. A good alternative to all the other diner’s in big bear. Recommend the pancakes and corn beef hash(homemade). Small selection of beer and wine. Great service, super friendly. Pet Friendly too.

It’s a nice little café that has outdoor patio sitting where pets are welcome(yay). The hostess was civil, not as friendly or welcoming but thankfully our server was superb! She was super nice, welcoming and friendly. Even though we were the only table outside she never forgot to check up on us, even went searching for a dog bowl to give our beloved pet some water. The food was good — we had breakfast food. The pancakes were homemade, as well as the corned beef hash. Both plates were tasty and hot when she brought it out. The ambiance– was nice, it was sunny and quiet at least on the patio it was. Across the street was the Fawn Park where kids, dogs and even adults can play, Cost — average pricing like most places. $ 32 for two people with a drink(tip not included yet)

Oh, dear. We used to love the North Shore Café. But the most recent three times starting I think two years ago were so negative we won’t be going there any more, unfortunately. First, they announced they don’t have a frier any more, so, no more french fries, onion rings, etc. Okay… not the end of the world BUT we loved those items in particular. Tried again anyway. The next time, our waitress wasn’t cheery at all(not sure what went wrong there) and the food was«meh.» Still we gave it one last try. We thought perhaps those more recent tries were flukes since previously we’d had such great experiences. This time did it. There were ants in everything. Not joking. Ants were served in my children’s drink glasses, just floating around… I’m not talking one random ant. They exchanged those, obviously, for new glasses which had ice with ants embedded! How on earth did that happen? There were also ants in the salt shaker. I can’t believe we didn’t leave, LOL. What the heck was wrong with us… but when our food finally did come(see below) we were picking, terrified of more ants… I mean… it was so gross. Really, we should have stood up and left, but anyway… We gritted our teeth and hung in there(yes, really) and our food took well over half an hour to come… easy food; eggs, and a burger. And we were literally the only people there. Now, the waitress this time was wonderful, just so sweet, attentive, etc. That’s why the two stars. But no, we’re never going back there again. Ever. Not even if they take care of the ant problem. I mean really, that just put us off the place forever. I just can’t recommend North Shore. Find a different eatery when you’re at Big Bear.

The food was good but it took 45 minutes on a Friday with only one other table to get served our food. When we got our food we still had no utensils and had to ask for them. The drinks and salt shaker had ants. I felt bad for our server. This place used to be amazing but has really gone downhill.

Came here one evening while on vacation with my GF in Big Bear. We saw all the reviews online and thought that it would be a great local place to get something warm after a long day in the snow. Upon arriving parking was fairly limited but expected for the area. The café is very small with no more then a dozen small tables insides. We ended up walking in to a full restaurant but only had to wait 5 minutes to get a table which was nice. After being seated our waitress did not even bring us menus or ask for our drink orders until I actually flagged her over to our table 15 minutes in. The menu has a pretty good size selection of delicious sounding food. I ended up ordering the Pastrami sandwich while my GF ordered a portabello sandwich. It all sounded really good so it was hard to choose at first. Now for the part that led to a one star review. While we were sitting waiting for our order 20 minutes go by. We drank our waters and needed a refill I flagged the waitress down and asked for more water. She said she would be right back with it. Another 10 minutes go by, no water — no food. I call her over and inquire again on the food and the water refills, she stated she would go check on the food and get some water right now. Another 15 minutes go by — officially 45 minutes after we ordered she came back with our water refills and stated our food was almost ready. Ten minutes later she comes back with our food. Two sandwiches took 55 minutes from time of order to time of receiving at the table. I could have gone to the grocery store pur based all the ingredients and made them from scratch in less time. Now for the food: it was at best mediocre. I’ve had better pastrami sandwich, ones that were not drowning in cheese like this one was. My GF’s sandwich looked great — tasted good, nothing special. Overall because of the slow service and poor customer service of our waitress I would not return to this café.

a little breakfast spot located in north shore with scrumptious meals. it’s a little out of the way from the city of big bear so it’s not as crowded as the other breakfast joints in town. there is a park located right across the street called«fawn park»

In short, we… Entered with our bellies aching. Then… Left with our bellies aching. After a morning hike, what better way to alleviate that mountainous hunger than with awesome breakfast food. Strolling into North Shore Café around 1PM, we asked if breakfast is still cookin’, to which we received a cheerful, «Of course, until 2PM!» Our reaction– instant smiles. That became just the theme of the entire visit. We ordered the blueberry pancakes and also a Denver omelette. A total of two orders yet these two dishes could feed a family of body builders(and a Grizzly and her cubs). The breakfast is not only the size of your Geo Metro’s hub caps but also is amazing delicious. It hit the spot in all the right places. Unfortunately I don’t have enough places on my body for have«it» to hit so we took about 1⁄3 of the food home. The Denver omelette is chock full of good-sized chunks of ham, plenty of cheese, and other toppings. Add to that some country potatoes and your choice of an additional starch, you’re in Big Bear Breakfast Heaven. Blueberry pancakes are fluffy, like a nice pillow. Probably not appropriate or grown up but I would like to rest my head against them. Two thumbs up service and attitude– very friendly. If you’re in Big Bear, this is not to miss.

Cute little spot right on the lake. The standout dish was the bread pudding french toast which had dates and apples in it, visually it wasn’t appealing but the taste was amazing. Banana walnut pancakes were also a hit! Was not a fan of any of the omelets, seemed to be overcooked bc they came out brown.

Decided to give the North Shore Café a try since there are great reviews and pictures on Unilocal.I visited on a lonely Monday along with 4 others. There was no wait and we were seated immediately. Our waiter, took a while to take our orders despite there being not wait. We ordered coffee, the chicken melt, Chinese chicken salad, caesar salad, artichoke pasta al fresca and a plain burger from the children’s menu. The burger was never brought to our table. Our waiter checked on us a few times but seemed rushed when she came by. We asked for 1 cup of water and she made it clear that it would take a while for us to receive water, we never received the water. When our waiter brought the bill I kindly informed her that we never received the plain burger from the children’s menu. She looks over our table, because clearly she did not believe us. She brings the bill back and I noticed that she charged $ 19.95 for a Chinese chicken salad! I tell our waiter that the menu reflects a different price and she responds«I don’t think so». I understand people make mistakes but this was no mistake. Our waiter with the heavy eye make-up was unapologetic for forgetting my 3 year old daughter’s food, water, and her attempt to over charge us twice. Service was bad, and food was okay. I will not be visiting this place again. I don’t need someone rolling their eyes at me when I’m asking a question about the menu or asking for a cup of water, especially when you are paying between $ 13-$ 16.95 for a meal.

We had the pleasure of dining here for lunch and it was a great choice! I had kielbasa and eggs and the hubs had a burger. As you can see by the picture I posted, there was no shortage of food. And I must add that it was fantastic! Definitely coming back :)

We had a party of 8 and was seated right away for Sunday brunch around 1pm, score! Their portions are great and everybody loved their food. I had their bread pudding french toast special and it was good, but it really was a bread pudding and felt more like a dessert, so I’ll probably just stick with the normal french toast next time. The service was really great, a bit slow, but they were also very busy. They have a very big menu and a lot of the items looks really good. I definitely would like to try them out next time for something else other than brunch.

Waiting now for 50 minutes for a table. Should we wait or leave? It’s a really small place. Large groups is tough to seat. Service is good so far!!! Food was good but wasn’t worth the wait. Portions are big and will definitely fill you up.
