I am from Maine, and have no idea what the attraction is here. Shanes of Maine found down the road at Cabin Cones is far better. Giffords will usually keep you waiting in line 20 minutes. Price is ok but like the quality, I’ve experienced better.

Decent ice cream. Pretty expensive, but also good portions. A lot of flavors, but a lot are exotic flavors, so I have no idea what they are. Needs more classic ice cream flavors.

For as long as I can remember, my family has been visiting my aunt and uncle’s lake house in mt. vernon each summer. And for as long as i can remember, we have been making the 20 min trip for Giffords Ice Cream at LEAST once a visit. Often times we will have a late lunch so that we can make ice cream our dinner(hey, it’s vacation). Every once in a great great while, I’ll see a few pints of Giffords ice cream in my local grocers freezer aisle and i’ll have to buy multiples. They have the BEST flavor combinations. My dad is something of an ice cream snob and this is hands down his favorite ice cream.

Gifford’s is the best ice cream I have ever tasted– hands down. Their vanilla ice cream is to die for and even other flavors, like Caribou caramel are soo much better than the caramel varieties you get in supermarkets. Plus, the portion size– you can’t beat it! A small is more like a large. So, while expensive, you not only get amazing tasting ice cream with a portion size that can be saved for later. Definitely check it out if you have never been! I have grown up in Farmington my whole life and love coming back here to make my regular stop in to giffords. Love this place.

And on with my Monday night ice cream review rampage… no apologies for the lack of inventiveness this many reviews into the evening. If you like rich, creamy, high fat ice cream, where you can literally taste the dairy cow in each bite, you’d be looking for Gifford’s. Ever felt inclined to eat lobster flavored ice cream? For the record, that is just so wrong, but that didn’t stop some ice cream stands from actually chucking lobster tails into vanilla and whamo!, lobster ice cream. Boggles the mind. Be thankful that their Maine Lobster Track isn’t actually lobster but mini lobster shaped chocolate. That melds so much better with a scoop of the world’s best vanilla. I didn’t know moose left chocolate peanut butter cup tracks! Where can I catch one of these??! Personally this ice cream-aholic is a berry nut, highly recommend the Maine Wildberry… all the best of the Maine summer berry harvest sans stooping amongst the bushes.

Gifford’s is about 25 mins from our house on Parker Pond, but we make the drive for Killer Frappes whenever we are up. Gifford’s has the best ice cream of any place up in Maine.
