Paid over $ 300 to have a clarinet overhauled. Received it, didn’t play it for almost a month(had strep) and discovered that the one-to-one didn’t open properly and that one of the middle B alternative fingerings didn’t close properly. Rather than driving from Minneapolis back to Farmington, I had it repaired at Schmidt Music, then let the owner of this establishment know that I’d had to take it in, that I didn’t think the $ 300 I’d spent had been fair and that I’d like part of it back. He responded that the instrument had played fine for both him and his wife and that I should’ve brought it back to him and that unfortunately he could not give me any money back but would credit me $ 54. Granted, I can see where he would’ve wanted me to bring it back, but I didn’t have that kind of time, as his initial work had taken three weeks. Since he worked on it, I’ve had the decorative rings(linking the pieces) fall off and have to be fixed, I’ve had to have the«wiggle» between the two main pieces fixed, and I’ve had a professional at Schmitt Music question whether or not the pads had really been replaced. I will not be using my $ 54 credit and let the owner of Get It Fixed!!! Band Instrument Repair know this. REALLY disappointing.
