I don’t usually have terrible things to say about an experience at a DD, but this morning… goodness. I stopped in to get a dozen bagels and cream cheese to bring to an event and the woman who filled that order acted as though she was trying to get herself fired. She asked me three times what kind of bagels I wanted(the answer was the same every time, not complicated — four everything, four sesame, four poppyseed). She walked slowly from the order counter back to the station where she filled the order, and she casually put the boxes together. Everything she did was like sleepwalking. Meanwhile, her coworkers are hopping around filling orders as though they want to get people out the door. I just stood there and watched her. She put four bagels in one of the boxes, and then, slowly, walked back to the counter and asked again what were the other two types I wanted. Not even a smile and a thank you to me when she finally handed me the two boxes. If you work for Dunkin Donuts, even when it’s a Sunday morning and you don’t feel like being there, at least act like you want the job. Not like you want to lose it.

Best Dunkin around. I will go 15 minutes out of my way if I want a good latte. Melissa is a great employee.

Not many people rate Dunkin Donuts, or 7 – 11, or McDonalds. Why? Because you always know what to expect from these places; so there is no need to validate one location over the other. That being said, I have had many bad experiences at this Dunkin Donuts location. In the span of 1 month, I’ve visited this location 5 – 7 times, and in all but one time my order was botched. I ask for no sugar and I get sugar. I ask for cream cheese and I get butter. I ask for coffee and I get tea. There’s a reason why people go to Starbucks, and it’s not because they think it’s cool. They go because the coffee has flavor, and when they order a drink, they get what they ask for.

This particular location cranks out pretty solid food and coffee for a DD. Here is my gripe(and it’s a major one). The line is ALWAYS horrendous. There is no drive thru, parking is tight and a lot of ambulance companies use this lot as their staging area which makes it even worse. If you see more than 4 cars in the lot, keep moving. If you are continuing on to the Unionville/Torrington area, stop at a different DD otherwise you’ll be waiting to make a left onto Route 4 forever. The interior is a nice one for a DD. Fireplace, couches, lots of food that is stocked. This place is a double edged sword.
