She is now at SOLA SALONS in Birmingham, or search for MARNI AT CURLVANA to find her. She books online now via Facebook or on her Sola Salons website page. She does not accept walk ins that I know of — she is only appointment based. Her page lists her services and rates.

Came in for a haircut with barb. Was told that she had to finish another haircut and it would be 30 minutes. No problem, I had changed the time of the appointment. Sat there and watched as she took over an hour with the thirty minute haircut and leisurely chatted with other staff.
I don’t know if it was because I came in wearing sweats or if time estimation is not her strong suit. I ended up leaving with no one even asking why. Will not return.

Darlynne is awesome! I’m in and out in 2hrs or less every time… looking gorgeous. She’s never scissor happy and has my hair healthier than ever before. Darlynne is very professional and nice. Her assistant Angela does a great job too. The salon is very clean and professional. If you’re looking for a salon experience without the wait look no further.

Marni is amazing. I have curly hair and have had many a disappointing haircut. I read about Marni on
and then read all of the amazing reviews here on Unilocal about her and knew I had to go. I went today and was super impressed! Not only did I walk out with a cut that fixed the terrible mullet thing I had going on, but she introduced me to new products and styling tips. She is very knowledgable of how to cut curly hair and I am so happy to have found a professional that will do a dry cut on my curly hair. Love Marni and I will be back in 6 months to see her again!

Dry cut based on your curl pattern, detailed instructions on styling, product use… and cheap. I think it was 60 bucks for a cut… versus the 125 I was paying in CA. Oh, Michigan… I love you.

The salon has a plain façade in a random plaza, but the inside décor is very clean and classy.
But really, the five stars are for Marni, the best thing to happen to curly hair in the Detroit area. While she demonstrated a styling technique using her suggested products, I later was able to use my usual products to recreate that same style. I even purchased the Curly Girl Handbook as a reference per her suggestion. She even had a curly up-​do book to flip through while we discussed my hair for my wedding during my last visit. While I hate to continue recommending her (it gets harder and harder to get an appointment on short notice), if you’ve got curly hair you need to make Marni your gal.

If you have curly hair, I cannot recommend Marni enough. I have lived through years of so-​so haircuts, with a few disasters along the way. I thought that was the best I could hope for given that I have very curly hair. Then, I saw reviews for Marni at Salon Spargo on a website for curly haired people. I decided to give her a try after 15+ years with someone else. MARNI IS AMAZING. The cut was gorgeous and she patiently taught me how to reproduce the results at home. I just returned for my second cut and it is as gorgeous as the first… maybe even better now that my hair’s condition has been improved by the styling techniques that Marni taught me. I’m not usually someone who takes the time to write online reviews but Marni is the holy grail for people with curls.

Like fellow reviewers, I am a curly-​haired girl. I tried Marnie after reading glowing reviews and am not disappointed. She introduced me to new products and techniques, with stellar results. Highly recommended for curly hair.

Curlyheads, run, don’t walk, to Marni. I’ve been flying to the eastcoast for years to get proper Devacurl cuts when I could have just been driving up the road. Marni is very knowledgable about Deva techniques but is not afraid to mix in another product that follows the Deva rules. My hair looks awesome. The salon itself is nice as well.

I’ve spent a lot of money over the years on hair stylists that charge $ 100 dollars for what they call «talent.» I’ve never once walked out of a salon thinking I had a good cut, even when the stylist had curly hair. Then I heard about Devachan in New York, and after getting my first $ 100 cut there and walking around like I was made of gold, I found Marni on Naturally Curly, who’s trained with them. She’s really awesome, smart and skilled at what’s actually pretty common sense — cut hair in the direction it lies, rather than straight across. My cut was $ 45 for the referral off Naturally Curly, and was worth every penny. She showed me techniques I’d never thought of before or had seen. I’ve never had the kind of compliments on my hair that I’ve had since getting Devachan-​trained cuts.

I love Darlynn! I haven’t been back to Salon Spargo in a long time, just because my money has been going to other things (boo, but understandable), but when I did go, she was excellent. A salon in Royal Oak turned me away (commenting on the type of hair that I have, but I won’t say who they were, I just don’t go anymore), and she took me in with open arms.
She told me what products she was using, gave me the exact hair cut that I wanted, and kept the length that I asked her to. My hair looked healthy and beautiful, and I will be returning soon for sure. Thanks Darlynn!

I have a secret for you and her name is Marni.
If you knew me a year ago you would not even know that I had curly hair. I was a serial straightener. Everyday I would fry my hair by blowdrying and then flat ironing. I spent tons of money on all sorts of hair product to hide my curlyness and spent close to an hour everyday on my hair.
Then I had a baby… and I did not have that extra 60 minutes every morning to spend straightening. I decided, after all these years, that I would try to embrace my curls and I am SO happy I did!
Marni is a curl master. She is trained on how to properly cut a head of curls and she is an expert at it (not only that but she is a curly girl herself!). Instead of a «normal» haircut your hair is cut curl by curl dry. But before she even starts cutting she analyzes your hair to figure out what cut/​products/​wash will work best with your hair. She is like a curly hair scientist! Not only does Marni cut your hair perfectly but she shows you how to properly do your hair at home.
Marni also does color. My hair was so washed out but I really didn’t even know where to go with it. Marni applied the PERFECT color for my skintone and it looks a million times better.
The Salon is newer (I believed it opened a year ago). Everyone is extremely friendly and it has a very upbeat vibe. Not only that but there were bagels, candy, fruit, coffee and bottled water galore for clients to partake in. Gotta love with a Salon puts out snacks :)
I am so happy I found Marni and I STRONGLY suggest all of the curly girls out there to go visit her. She will literally change your curly hair life.
