This was always an adventure coming here. Lots of laborers passing through the doors, very little English. This place can be hardcore. One of the least gringo-friendly Latino delis I’ve been in. Is it worth it? yes it is, but is it that much better than the others? I would say the food is less fresh but better than El Paso, but not as good as Nelson’s. But really, they all serve amazing food and anyone would be lucky to step through their doors. New owners, but same feel as the defunct Fabio’s. As of today, the sign is the same and judging from the flag on the business card, the new ones are now Dominican. Cool. The food is similar to how it’s always been, the metal steam tables go 20 feet deep, with the line of food about 12 feet deep tapering off towards end. Seeing a full 20 feet would be too much goodness in one deli. I think the patrons would be blinded from the light. There’s a good chance you’ll see some workers drinking silly, many locals eating there, but I always take out. And I would imagine you would too. If you want to sit down and eat, I strongly recommend El Paso two doors down.
