Hands down the best Eggs Benedict every the flavors we’re a great the cheese sauce wasn’t over powering like some. The muffin was toasted just right and the ham was cooked to perfection tender each bite was a mouthful of heaven for me. I love Eggs Benedict, but it is rather difficult to find that someone knows how to make this perfect little dish. This was the special of the day for breakfast I’m glad I we saw the sign and ordered it, sense I haven’t had it in awhile.

When you go for breakfast at 9:30am on a weekday, you know you are dealing with quality when they still have a wait list. Totally worth it! In from out of town and this had been recommended. I could tell there were a lot of regulars as we sat by the entry and observed how people sere greeted as they came in. Someone sent a big huge cookie to my 6 year old son. They didn’t want to be acknowledged but I can pretty much bet it was an older gentleman that patted him on the head as we were waiting for our table. Not just nice service but nice customers go there as well! Our server was great, the food came out in a timely manner and my pancakes were nothing but fluffy goodness. Fifty cents extra for fresh blueberries was a bargain and«icing» on my cakes ;) very affordable. Any time I visit Fargo, my fam and I are having breakfast at The Shack!

Excellent, fast service coupled with really good diner comfort food. Great breakfasts. They keep the coffee and tea coming. Love the eggs Benedict and all the other breakfast dishes I’ve tried. Great prices. If you’re looking for a really good, affordable breakfast, this is the best in town.

Today my family and I probably got the worst customer service we have ever received at a restaurant. Now I know we might have got there close to closing time, this places closes at 2pm on Sundays and we got there at 1:20pm, but our order wasn’t even taken until 1:35pm and the young lady that got seated right across from us got seated and literally 2mins later her order was taken. Our waitress was really condescending in her responses when we would ask for things and as soon as we got our food we felt rushed to hurry and leave. I took my son to the bathroom and when we came back my wife let me know the young waitresses, there were only your waitresses today when we where there, where giving our waitress a hard time because they couldn’t leave yet to a baby shower, our waitress’ response was to look at my wife and say«I can’t leave yet». This is really sad because the food is really good here and the first time we went everyone was really nice. Today just must have been a bad day for the people working there because we did not feel welcome from the start, they took forever to see what we wanted to eat and as soon as we got our food they wanted us out the door. I am really sorry I’m holding up your life and plans, because it’s our fault right…

My husband loves corn beef hash and thought the corn beef hash with pancakes at The Shack were excellent. He said the pancakes melted in his mouth. The hot pork sandwich was hot and tasty. The pork was tender and flavorful. The gravy and dressing were also very good. At lunch time it was very busy but we waited only about 5 minutes for a table. The service is great as they have it down to a science. Highly recommend this restaurant for good home cooking!

Very disappointed. We were there on a Thursday, not particularly busy. We were promptly sat and given drinks and then waited. And waited. Our server, Staci, continued to chit chat with what appeared to be her regular customers while making multiple other tables wait to order. Frustrating. As we sat there waiting, we could hear her gossiping about other employees to customers and another waitress. Really? We finally put our order in and waited quite a while. After about 15 min, I was walking to the bathroom and I saw our food just sitting in the window. Came back to the table and the food was still there(our server was chatting again). Sure enough she went and grabbed the food that had been sitting there for quite a while and brought it to us. It was no longer warm. When we told her, she said«well, I can put it in the microwave.» Haha no, at that point we were done. Paid, left and wont ever be back. Very unprofessional. Edit: although we are still not interested in returning, I am impressed that the owner took the time to apologize so I will up my rating. We could have just experienced a bad day, but it was a bad experience nonetheless.

Thank the food gods for The Shack. People, this is what an independent metro joint should be. One of the saving graces for local foodies. Hands down best breakfast(The country fried steak will bring tears to your eyes) Omelets are top notch. Lunch, homemade soups, killer Reuben. Simply don’t know what else to say: Run to The Shack !!!

Met a friend at The Shack for breakfast 3 years ago and have been back at least a couple times a month ever since. My absolute favorite spot for casual weekend brunch, business lunches, or coffee with one of The Shack’s ginormous cinnamon rolls. The owner and her staff are incredibly hard workers, but, by all appearances really love their jobs — always greeted promptly, time for a quick chat, friendly and fun. And oh yeah — the food is excellent and in generous servings. Tastes just like I would cook it at home IF I cooked at home!

Hits the spot every time! Good diner fare. Decent vegetarian options for this style of diner. Service is always decent. Quest for a perfect breakfast: 7÷10− grated hash browns are standard. Contents of omelettes are basic. But everything tastes good and is filling.

Tonight was the first time we went there. It’s small and clean. The workers are very friendly. Our server was nice and the food came out pretty fast. My husband liked the fact that he could hear the cooks singing, he said it was a good sign that they must like their jobs, he must have been right because the food was good. He ordered the ribs and they were tender. Kids had burgers and didn’t complain. We like it and will continue to stop in!

My boyfriend and I have gone here several times just for breakfast. You get so much food for not a lot of money and it is really good! We always get the steak and eggs with pancakes and hash browns for a little under $ 10. The place is a bit small so if you plan on going in the morning on a weekend be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for a table.

We enjoyed our breakfast here. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. It was a weekday morning, so not very busy. lots of local college students in attendance. My wife had eggs Benedict, which was very good. The Hollandaise sauce was homemade, not from a mix. One complaint I had was with the toast. it is better described as hot bread with melted butter, for it had no crunch. I had corned beef hash, which tasted good, but again, there was no crisp to it that you usually get when fried on a flat top. It was a hot, wet mess. Everything else was satisfactory.

Da wifeie is a round, even tempered chief/cook/baker. Whenever we eat here she cleans here plate and says ‘that’s the best food in town. The staff literal is hopping to keep up. Everything from the eggs Benedict, Western omelet, carmel rolls as big as your head, is excellent. So one of my favorite place to eat. The moose picture is just extra.

Great comfort food that your southern grandma would make you(if you were from the south of course). Perfect hangover food as well that comes in generous portions at a very affordable price point(most breakfast items/meals were easily under $ 10). They definitely don’t skimp on the butter or sugar, but everything was delicious! The caramel rolls go fast, and so I ordered a cinnamon roll, which was HUGE, with a tasty glob of frosting that made it clear that I would need to share this with my friends in order to avoid diabetes. Ordered the chicken fried steak, which was crispy, juice, and covered in a rich pepper gravy. Next time, looking forward to trying their fried chicken meal!

Hot turkey with mashed potatoes gravy and stuffing, naturally I added a ton of butter as usual. This is one of my many favorites they have here. I ordered this before 10am and sure enough they were already ready with turkey and stuffing this early. As good as breakfast is, nothing hits the spot like hot turkey.

I loved my first experience at the Shack and cannot want wait to go back soon. The staff is amazing and warm. I went with a friend for Sunday brunch. I simply had eggs, hash browns and toast. It was my idea of the ideal mom and pop diner, and the food was delicious. The hash browns were spot on — crisp on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. I can’t wait to go back and try a list of other menu items including some from the lunch/dinner menu. If you haven’t been to the Shack go — and then — go back!
