Start with Sloooow. Add mis-named menu items, a little over-priced and wait staff with dirty fingernails. Finish off with greasy hummingbird cake. Advantage is no competition worth mentioning.

Took a road trip on Saturday to visit The Gap Deli. It had been listed as a place for a good hot dog and I was feeling like a drive. The Deli is very cute and tucked into a small cluster of shops with an antique store and a garden center. The interior is pretty small(maybe seats 30). I was greeted quickly and a beverage in front of me quickly. The menu had lots of tasty looking items, but I had come for a hot dog and that’s what I was going to get. I ordered one with chili, slaw, and mustard and a side of stewed apples. The hot dog itself was just ok. They use a big deli bun that is grilled. The chili and the slaw(both of which were good) made the bun really soggy. It’s a good sized hot dog but the whole thing turned into a bit of a mess. The apples(a seasonal side) were good. I topped off the meal with a slice of peanut butter pie. It was very tasty! Definitely think was homemade. All in all, a nice place. I think I’ll return but probably won’t get another hot dog.

Stopped in with my family for a quick lunch while on a long road trip. The deli staff was friendly and the food was great. Our groups highlights were the homemade dumplings, the firecracker sandwich, and Grant’s chow hot dog. Great prices, great food! :)

What a pleasant surprise!!! Our club«The Ashville BMW Riders had 25 people show up to have supper. We were greeted by some awesome staff members. Shari & Lexi. They were very attentive, caring, and immediately brought our drinks out. The staff in the kitchen started pumping out some very wonderful food. From our table you could watch how they prepared the food. They also seemed very caring, and attentive to get it right, which they did!!! We were all surprised at the quality of the food, the AWESOME service, the friendly staff, and atmosphere. Most places would panic with being bombarded with 25 hungry people. These people were happy to have us, and it showed tremendously. Very, very impressed!!! Thank you all for making our evening such a pleasant one… We will return!!!

A must stop just off of I-77. The place was filled and lived up to the reviews. Service was prompt and pleasant. The turkey wrap was fresh and tasty. Oatmeal raisin cookie was primo. I will be back again should my travels take me past here at the lunch hour!

Excellent place to eat, friendly staff. Their spin on traditional dishes was really amazing. The touch of olive and cheese cube on each sandwich was cute and delicious. Everything was freshly made including their cole slaw, which I could have made a meal out of! Our table ordered a Reuben, turkey club, pinto bean soup and a sandwich by the name of hot mama — yum! Loved the desserts, also fresh and unique… hummingbird cake and blueberry cobbler with lemon currant. We will definitely be back!!!

I found myself in Fancy Gap, Virginia during our team region meetings in Charlotte, NC. The Gap Deli was quaint, with friendly staff and perfect lunch options. Our group was large, and took up over half of the restaurant, but the staff provided outstanding service and still brought our food quickly. I doubt I will ever make it back, but this place should be on everyone’s list if they are in the area or biking on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Very cute, small, local restaurant just off the parkway. Small interior(only accommodates about 20 people) but they have another 5 – 6 tables outside in a nice patio. The food is really good, especially the bread and condiments(unique mayo blends). I highly recommend the Appalachian Trail Garden Burger with wasabi horseradish mayo(substitute). A really nice, unique alternative to fast-food for lunch if you are in the area. Highly recommend. Positives: Healthy options and some unique selections and condiments. Desserts were homemade and delicious(chocolate chip cookie, lemon bar)
