My regular hair guru is prone to last minute cancellations, cancelled again, last minute for Sunday very unprofessional, she has officially lost me as a client. I had used Monaliss shop before in the same shopping center, excellent hair care, long waits, but I guess they were having work as it looked like it’s undergoing some type of construction inside. I found this place a few doors down online and called about pricing, weaves etc. The shop is upstairs and looks very nice, busy as soon as it opened, but they move people in and out quickly and efficiently. Unlike other shops you sign in when you arrive and they take you in order, I was initially impressed. The individual who worked on me asked what kind of weave I wanted and I told her as close to what I currently have as possible, it was not fancy, bob with side part on the left, that would line up with the mid range of my eyebrow. Basic, novice weave. The stylist told me she couldn’t do the closing piece like the one I had and I asked if she could use the one she took out? She said she was better with leaving some hair out. At this point I should have left… I’m writing this review so you know I didn’t. The girl was quick and efficient in taking out my previous weave and giving my hair a good, much needed thorough wash. I was asked if I wanted a deep condition and said yes, it was $ 20, I was fine with that. I was quoted $ 125 for the weave, $ 20 for removal of previous weave, and washing my hair. The stylist initially told me she braids hair from front to back and installs hair, this was not done. I’m not completely sure of the braid pattern, but when she braided my entire head I asked her if she was going to use my old closure piece since she didn’t leave hair out and she looked confused, she then had someone retrieve the old closure piece from the floor and wash it so she could use it. When she started to install the hair I knew she didn’t know what she was doing, she called anothe stylist over frequently. The other woman seemed more knowledgeable, but didn’t take over. I can’t tell you what kind of pattern she was using to install the hair, but it didn’t work. At the point that I asked, how are you going to close this as she tried to fit the previous circular closing piece on top of the hive she had created at the top of my head I felt like crying. I asked her what was her plan for the second cloure she had created and again she looked confused. The second woman finally came over again and they discussed at length in there native tongue what was wrong. I picked up the braid pattern was wrong and that the hair should have been sewn in across the braids, not long them. At the end the other woman took over and clearly was not happy about it. I thought ok I’m saved, I thought wrong. The next stylist took out a large area of the weave on the front and sewed it back in, refusing to layer it with 1and 1b as it had been done on the lower tracks. She closed the hair by sewing the last 2 tracks together, I was sick and it wasn’t over. At this point I figured I’m going to end up paying someone else to do a closure because this is the best they can do. I asked about the bob and she said ok give me a minute, about 15 minutes later I was taken over to another stylist, male who did minimal cutting to shape a bob, it looked really good as long as you couldn’t see the closure. He called over the initial stylist and seemed to be critiquing my weave, again I couldn’t understand what was being said, he flat ironed my hair a bit and it looks fine from the front and back. If the wind is blowing or you can see the top of my head it looks horrible. After cutting my hair he tells me the part didn’t look natural? Seriously? I sat in his shop and received the weave and he tells me the part doesn’t look natural? I’m not one of those people who will yell at someone and withold payment, I never have been and never will be, but I know how to Unilocal and Unilocal is a wonderful tool. I felt like the closer they were to closing shop, the more they shoved me toward the door. Talk about feeling ripped off. I arrived at the shop at 10:30 and left around 5 p.m. and I was charged full price for the unfinished weave, to add insult to injury I was also charged for the cut and critique, although I was told he deducted 10%. I missed work the next day to have my hair taken out down to the braids and redone by a wonderful woman, the owner of Beauty Dynamix Hair Salon; so on the bright side I found a wonderful shop in Woodbridge! Note. This review only applies to weaves, patrons who had other services, wash and style, blow out etc. looked great.
