I took my mom here for her birthday upon her request, and looked forward to having seafood. Most Asian buffets are similar to me — unlimited oysters, cocktail shrimp, sushi, the usual Chinese food, etc. I usually go for the more expensive and high in demand munchies like the raw oysters and sushi. Not sure how fresh the oysters were, but I had 2 platefuls of them. The sushi was decent and there was enough variety of that. I may not go out of my way to go here but the buffet will keep you full!

Food thatvshould have been hot was cold. Food thatbshould have been cold was oddly warm. Dirty drinking glasses. Disgusting, oily, tasteless food that gave us stomachaches. Would never return.

25 minute drive to this random location… good/quick service, great price 9.99 for lunch buffet and 50cents for green tea(which tastes like hot water), food quality was average/not great, the sushi was very limited in choices and the only thing edible was the spicy tuna, salmon and tuna sushi which were fishy still. the red snapper was chewy like plastic. The grilled white fish, eggplant and mushrooms were my fav. but again not quality. The chicken teppanyaki was alright… good choices of already cut chicken breast and various veggies. Great price, good service but the food was not good. My tummy hurt afterwards. I wouldn’t recommend this place unless you enjoy cheap food that lacks flavor and freshness. You get what you pay for.

Do NOTRECOMMEND. I miss the time when they first open. Even the price was higher, but they even offer snow crab legs. Today when I walked in I thought the price was $ 13.99 for weekdays dinner. However, when the check came, it’s $ 17.99 per person. Food seemed all dry and has been there for a long time. Every other Chinese buffet I had been to all had crabs, except this one. And this was the highest price among all. Their sushi was average too. If you ever ate hibachi buffet in chantilly, their sushi was bigger slice and more fresh. 1.5 hour drive for round trip was totally waste! Will never return!

Food is decent for the price, though this place is not so much a Japanese buffet as a glorified Chinese buffet with a slightly expanded sushi bar. Nothing I had was bad but it was almost all decidedly average, and a lot of it, for lack of a better word, had an «industrial» taste — like it was old/stale/low quality/frozen. Who knows. Just not very appealing. The restaurant is also kind of stale-smelling and the place is visibly aging. It could really benefit from a makeover. I was pleased with the raw squid sushi, which was tasty. The salmon was tasty too. The rest was bland-ish and tasted more or less the same, especially the assortment of rolls. Also the fried foods were crispy which is always nice. But the majority of the items were just eh.

I wanted to like this place soooooo bad! The future hubby and I stopped by here because he had a craving for a good buffet so we decided I go for it. Awful… old, cold, tasteless, and not a very wide selection of favorites. The hibachi grill was subpar at best. Well better than the rest of the food. For me, the only shining star in this overpriced meal was the ice cream. That’s right folks ice cream. Save your money and go to coldstone instead.

Not bad Asian Buffet place… It had reasonable prices for lunch. It does seem to have a bunch of every Asian food you can think of. Hokkaido is a region in Japan. So I’d expect more Japanese Décor. Up for debate but I’ll be back.

Wide selection of Asian and American food at a great price. I’ve hit Hokkaido several times, usually for the $ 13.99 Saturday lunch, and I’m sure I will be back. It’s at least a solid three stars, especially if you go in expecting few frills. The food quality ranges from good to eh – the focus is quantity. I usually start with the sushi buffet, which is freshly made on site and decent quality, like what you’d expect at a supermarket. The teppanyaki grill is a nice feature and there’s a good selection of meat, veggies, and noodles. There are soups, cold salads, and a rotating menu of hot bar items such as stir-fried green beans, Chinese-buffet-style coconut shrimp, chicken with vegetables, etc. The hot bar items range in quality so play it by sight. There are also American dishes like french fries, Texas toast, and pizza; these tend to be the quality of something you’d get frozen in bulk, but when I was a kid our local Asian buffet was the only place my grandmother would break her diet to eat this lackluster buffet pizza so I have a soft spot for it. The dim sum selection is hit or miss, but I’ve had luck with the pork shumai and the cha siu bao(steamed bbq pork buns). I tend to avoid the heat lamp display with items like sausages and hot dogs — next to the teppanyaki stand — but as you can tell this isn’t a problem because there’s so much else to enjoy. I also avoid the raw bar because that is too risky. Finally, no visit to Hokkaido is complete without the chocolate fountain. Sure, there’s ice cream and mediocre cakes, but holding fruit and marshmallows in the chocolate fountain is surely the best way to top off your AYCE experience.

It’s not Todai if you are going to compare the sushi here but it’s also ain’t Todai price. There’s a very good selection of food here. There’s a Sushi bar, cold seafood, tepanyaki BBQ, Chinese and American food. Let’s break down the sections. One thing to keep in mind is that I was here for lunch on Saturday. Menu items maybe different. The sushi bar has a very decent selection of sushi and sashimi. It’s weird that they don’t offer salmon sashimi but for the price I’ll deal with it. Try the eel skin sushi. The cold bar was rather disappointing. Just a couple of shrimps, mussels and crawfish. It didn’t look appealing to me so I didn’t touch it The tepanyaki grill was nice, very common selection of food choice. Noodles, steak, onion, green bell pepper, beansprouts and egg. There’s a very good choice of soup selection as well here. Everything from your typical egg drop soup to hot and sour soup. I believe the dim sum section is only available during the weekend. I find the sweet dim sums really delicious. Very interesting choices of selection that you don’t typically find in a buffet place. The dessert station are your common compared to every where else. The ice cream served here was decent quality, not the cheap icy ice cream that you typically get. There’s a chocolate fountain with marshmallows and bananas for dips. Im actually really impressed with the Chinese food selection, there’s some really good and different good choices that is not common. I found some really good tripes and fish head. Yum. It’s an Asian thing. Overall nice selection, good bang for the buck. The wait staff however is a little lacking. It was very slow when I was here and they don’t come often enough to clear out the plates. I’m constantly stacking my plates to the end of the table.

Look, this place is a clearly you pay what you get. It’s not going to be Gourmet. There is gonna be stuff sitting around that looks gross. But at $ 10 bucks for weekday lunch buffet, this is an absolute steal. Tons of dim sum and full sushi roll bar plus Mongolian grill. Use common sense… like don’t eat raw oysters at a $ 10 lunch buffet. Unfortunately the quality of the food does not scale with the price increase for dinner(especially weekend dinner). At $ 20 for din, you get a bit more seafood selection like salmon sashimi which I ate some and it seemed fresh. But honestly, this is the kind of buffet where I worry about the quality of the raw food. Again, the hot stuff is fine with pretty good turnover so most of it keeps fresh. There are also some items which clearly have been sitting around. 5 stars for lunch, 3 stars for dinner yields a 4 star average.

I had no problems with the service, they were all very courteous and attentive. They got rid of every finished plate right away, asked if we needed water refills and answered all«what is this, what is that» question. The food variety is astonishing and I was very excited about the chocolate fountain! Obviously for a $ 10 buffet I wasn’t expecting a $ 20-$ 30 entrée kind of quality, but was still pleasantly surprised. Overall, very satisfied and excited about actually being able to afford decent food on my post college-student loans paying budget!

I use to love this restaurant, and would stop in every 2 or so weeks with my family until… At the sushi bar, I was picking my fair share of oysters until a small red moving worm caught my eye. There were 4 worms in and around the oysters and the metal trays. I was disgusted lost my appetite and told the management. The management went to the back, and left the oysters trays THERE!!! I waited 5 minutes to see if anything was done about it, but they did nothing! I informed everyone at every table not to touch the oysters and the management caught on and proceeded to kick me out. Will not be returning back. Please do not go to Hokkaido’s seafood buffet.

This is seriously a three-star restaurant. There is an enormous buffet, and a wide range of variety — but the food is really really mediocre. I wouldn’t bother going there again. The buffet offers a variety of dim sum, Japanese food, seafood, jellies, a chocolate fountain, ice cream, and various other ethnic Asian foods. However none of it, other than the ice cream is as expected. Foods that are under the heat lamps, are slightly warm, but certainly not fresh. The sushi is not appetizing. This place feasts your eyes, but not your taste buds or your stomach.

Usually, buffets are associated with poor quality food, but this buffet offers slightly above average food. For example, a lot of the Chinese food was comparable to that of a dim sum restaurant. On top of that, there was a huge variety of different foods to choose from. Although the Chinese food met my minimum expectations, the sushi was horrendous. The rice was tacky and lacked flavor. In fact, the sushi was, for the most part, very bland. But the service here was very fast as I got my water and check immediately after requesting them. This place was also aesthetically pleasing and featured stone tile lined walls. Overall, the food here is both good and bad; it really depends on what you get. For the atmosphere, service, and food, this place is very fairly priced.

Meh… just another buffet that’s not worth it. The place is big and it has really comfy leather seats but the food and the cleanliness is not there. The food consist of sushi, hibachi grill, typical chinese food, and a soup bar for phở. Let me just say all the food are bland, nothing was an eye catcher for me, they didn’t offer snow crabs, which was a total blower, typically if you get charged up the ass, you would think they would offer decent seafood, but nope. Too pricey, tasteless, and dirty, it sucks the family had to pick this place to take our Aussie family out for their last dinner in merika here.

I walk into the restaurant and was not greeted properly. The server was on the phone, he however did acknowledge me with some dirty looks. I told him my party was here already. He had no clue what to do. Fast forward. I get to my table. The waitress gave me a attitude on what I was going to drink. Didn’t even have time to think about what I wanted. The floor was very slippery. And I was wearing basketball shoes. The food is OK. I would recommend not eating the sushi if you have a week stomach cause its not that fresh. The other hot plate foods are good. Overall experience I would say that if service does not matter to you. Then this place is for you.

A lot of different foods for the amount that you pay. Overall, a pretty good AYCE buffet. The service was good, they come and greet you. They take down the drinks that you want and they make sure that your drinks are constantly refilled and all your dirty plates are cleared from the table before you return. They always try to keep the place looking clean and new for every customer. The food looks amazing, but it looks better than it tastes. A lot of the food were a little bland, the sauce hasn’t had enough time to marinate the food. Besides that, it’s just amazing how much food they provide for the amount that they charge. There’s a raw bar, which serves sashimi, oysters, it’s good and fresh. The comment I have is in regards to the black bean oyster and the fried dumplings which are hot foods, both we undercooked. The oyster was still slimy and had a very fishy taste, and the fried dumplings, the meat was still pink. That’s is why I knocked off 2 stars for this review. Would I come back? Sure, but I’d stay away from the«cooked» fried dumplings and the black bean oysters.

I thought it was great! Good variety of sushi, came here on a Saturday night and they had fresh oysters, tuna, salmon, and snapper sashimi along with a good selection of nigiri and rolls. The best part is they make the rolls and nigiri small so you can sampler a lot of different kinds. Oh and they keep all these items filled so you can get your fix without waiting for their«timing» on when they put them out. The hot buffet also has a large selection from fishes to chicken and beef chinese dishes. They also have some dim sum as well. I was impressed and it is one of my favorite choices for sushi buffet in the area among the others I have tried so far. Everything tastes fresh and was deliciously spiced. Great value for the price!

One of my favorite AYCE sushi buffets. I don’t come often — maybe a couple of times a year — but I never fail to leave stuffed to the gills. My favorite is the sushi. Lots of options to fill your plate. I always have plenty of the super fresh salmon and tuna sashimi and there’s usually another selection too(last night it was red snapper). The slices of beef tataki are also excellent. The selection of nigiri is usually tasty but rather mundane: your expected sake, maguro, ebi, and a few other options. I choose to balance out the plate with some of the dozen rolls colorfully arrayed on platters — with frequently a return trip to get more of the Hokkaido roll. The buffet isn’t all sushi though. There are plenty of other options but most are seafood in nature. There’s a soup section with 5 – 6 options, a Teppanyaki grill where you can create your own cooked to order dish, raw bar with oysters, mussels and shrimp, dim sum, and a bunch of other miscellaneous cooked dishes. Among my usual: — stir-fry green beans — sauteed mushrooms — shrimp in cream sauce(very very lightly sauced — love it) — steamed clams — seafood casserole — sesame balls — chinese pork buns — stuffed clams — and sushi, lots and lots of sushi Note to those who might be thinking to visit — unlike other asian buffets, Hokkaido has significantly less«non-asian» food on the buffet than others I’ve been to. So you might keep that in mind if there are fussy diners in your party. If you still have room after rounds of grazing, there’s the expected selection of asian pastries, fresh fruit, and ice cream for a sweet ending to your meal. The ice cream is very good so I usually just have that and a palmier cookie. Sadly the chocolate fountain seems to have gone away. Waitstaff is plentiful and very helpful keeping your beverages topped off. They are also very efficient about keeping the place very clean. Very reasonably priced seafood buffet with wide selection.
