Quality Inn Spring Mills – Martinsburg North

We stopped in here for a night while en route to the South via I-​81. There are countless hotels all long this interstate but we picked it out from a line of possible accommodations because the price was fair and seemed to be relatively well-​reviewed by previous guests on
. At $ 89 a night for a standard room with two queen-​sized beds, it’s certainly not the most expensive option out there but it’s not small change. As such, we were expecting (at the very least) a clean space and decent lodgings. Instead, we found a somewhat drab room that reeked of staleness as soon as we walked in. Moreover, there was extensive mildew on the shower curtains and a few little spiders that welcomed my naked self as I stepped into the tub.
On the plus side, the front desk was friendly and accommodating, and there is free breakfast offered from 6 to 9:30 in the morning. The offerings are varied enough to compose a bone-​sticking first meal for travelers (bread and pastries, cold cereal, instant oatmeal, and a few hot plates), but also far from the best we’ve ever seen from a hotel.
The bottom line — we walked away from our stay feeling as though we’d overpaid for our room. However, I overheard another family checking in and using a coupon from a travel booklet to cut twenty dollars off the cost of the standard room, so it would seem that there are definitely ways to drop the sticker price and create value if you’re willing to do the legwork (for instance, we had AAA, which helped us bring things down a few bucks).

The room we stayed in smelled like smoke. So bad I could not sleep we got up early and came home. The lady at the desk said oh well I guess someone was smoking in the room. All the staff stood out side the front door smoking. Nice room just smelled horrible!
