El tigre No longer exists! I was looking for this place after reading some good stuff about it’s meat… but it’s gone. It’s now Northgate… and it’s prices + services that the previous 2 reviewers wrote about seem to be the same. The 1 star is in place of a sad face for disappearing. =(

I live in a bubble of grocery stores. The only«big grocery stores» were American, and everything else was exotic, international, or small. The exceptions were the big Asian supermarkets that I’ve grown up with, but other than that Mexican, English, Indian, etc markets were tiny holes in the wall. El Tigre proved me wrong. They are a big grocery store that it can be and be better in a lot of way via products, the deli, and the prices. I always try to make it a point to visit El Tigre when I’m in town.

El Tigre Market is a huge must visit market in Fallbrook specializing in Mexican foods. The produce section is full of fabulous buys and the veggies and fruits are super fresh. Don’t leave without stopping at the bakery(panaderia) for some Mexican pastries at 3 for $ 1 you can buy a huge bagful. They make tortillas fresh throughout the day and if you are lucky or cute they will give you a warm freebie sprinkled with salt. Yum. Stop by the hot deli(cocina) for a really tasty taco plate they have a few seats if you want to sit in. If you are having a party the salsa by the pound is an easy appetizer. Tons of spices. Mexican candy. Good stuff.
