Let me start first by saying the waitress and the manager were EXCELLENT. They were so, so nice. Had the food been better, we would be back to try something else on the menu. Unfortunately, whoever created the menu needs a wake-up call. I ordered the lobster roll and my boyfriend ordered the portuguese steak. The lobster roll was $ 15 and came out on a HOTDOGBUN. I thought it was a joke, it literally looked like a kids meal. No way were we paying $ 15 for that when I could go to the 99 for a much BIGGER lobster roll for that price. My boyfriend’s portuguese steak was also very small, and came out BROWN when he asked for it medium/really pink. The manager told him that because of how thin they make the portuguese steak, they really can’t cook it any way except well-done… well then whoever’s cooking it doesn’t know how to cook. The restaurant itself is beautiful, I can tell they’re going for a 5-star feel… but don’t give us the 5-star serving sizes! We don’t go out to eat in Fall River just to go home hungry! If we want the expensive food that’s the size of your palm, we’ll make the trek up to Boston for that, not our hometown! We ended up leaving to go somewhere else and the manager and waitress were extremely kind and understanding with our decision(it seems they get this a lot). The manager even took the beers off our check so we didn’t owe them a dime, but we still left a tip for the waitress for the time she spent with us and her professionalism.

Some people complain about everything!!! Listen so what you have to walk a bit sometimes once you get in the food is great the atmosphere is fantastic and the prices are reasonable!!! It’s Fall River and in my opinion it’s one of the finer restaurants in the area!!! Obviously the people complaining about parking have never gone to nice restaurants in New York… Megan best waitress and the prettiest young ladies I’ve ever conversed with.

This is becoming a favorite since they reopened. I’m a bit disappointed that the Portuguese soup has been deluted the last few weeks less flavor and stock. Hope they don’t go back to their old ways on inconsistent quality. It would be a shame.

Called at 2pm to make a reservation and they said yes only for 6 or more. Later on I called back to make the reservation and the person who answered the phone told me they don’t take reservations? I told him what I was told earlier and a different woman comes on the phone to say they were sooooooo busy that they can’t take reservations and that it’s tough and may be a long wait because we have a party of 6… Obviously why I need a reservation! That and there’s no parking anyway

Ok So here’s the deal. Good thing the food is fabulous. I asked for a dirty martini got one with a cherry oops wrong drink. Do you want another? Duh… We’ll have the spicy chips as an app. Oops my bad do you want them now?(as our entre’s are presented to us). Uh no thanks. I will take a coffee and a zambuca for desert. No I didn’t want an espresso… Poor girl you were sweet but you were aweful as a waitress.(names were omitted to protect the innocent)

The Caesar Salad was very tasty and served cold. The crispy Chicken Sandwich was delicious and served hot along with the house made fries. The staff was pleasant and available but did not hover. The price was more than fair. I consider myself a fairly tough customer to impress but I was impressed.

We were so sad when Mesa 21 closed because of the fire. It was one of our regular spots. It took a loooong time but they are finally back. What a great job redoing the inside. It’s got a much more contemporary vibe now and there is some extra seating. It’s also great to see some of the same faces working there. While the menu has some of the old favorites on it, there are some new options as well. The new boneless wings and spinach and artichoke dumplings are good. We have a tough time ordering anything other than the pizza here. It’s a thin crust brick oven pizza. I highly recommend it. Bread is also brought with every meal and it’s made fresh in the pizza oven. It’s great when dipped in the garlic oil that’s on the table. I could make a meal of it. Parking is still an issue here. Be prepared to walk. There’s no lot and the streets in the area fill up fast. Welcome back, Mesa 21. I missed you.

Well here it finally is! Mesa has been reopened! We stopped by on a Tuesday night, hoping really, that nothing had changed. But it has. The new buildout is awesome. It is clean, simple and unpretentious. Our server Mel, was attentive, smart and pleasant. Just a really nice person who did an excellent job. We started with steamed quahogs with chourico. The Syrian bread that came with them was fresh and the clams were done to perfection. As it was $ 2.00 taco night, we ordered one cod taco, just to try them. ITWASTHEBESTTACO I HAVEEVEREATEN! Served in a crispy, warm tortilla, the fish chunks were fresh and lightly seasoned. And of course we ordered Margarita pizza from their famous brick fired oven and it was awesome. So this wonderful gem of a place did change. It is even better than before. However I am told that it is no longer advisable to show up and expect a table. The wait on a Friday or Saturday can be up to 45 minutes. So I guess absence did make our hearts grow fonder. Welcome back Mesa 21! You have been missed!

The Asian boneless wings were good! I would have preferred the sauce on the side but my husband liked them with the sauce on! We also had the Portuguese steak pizza, which was done well! The crust is thin and tasty! Caution… peppers are hot! I would order again without the rice and peppers! This is definitely a worthwhile stop! We will be back!

My wife and I used to love this place, so we were anxious to visit Mesa 21 after they reopened. Unfortunately, I wish we hadn’t gone. Positives: –Interior design is nice, the facility is clean. –The bread and oil was tasty –Good fries Negatives: –The server was unfamiliar with the food on the menu. –Kitchen is rather slow — over 30 minutes for a burger and a fried fish sandwich. –The«Portuguese soup» lacked flavor. The cup was was a quagmire of greens with a little bit of bland broth, a few carrots and a chunk or two of potato. There was no chourico in it and it lacked the spiciness usually associated with this kind of soup. –The burger came out overcooked and just wasn’t very good. It tasted more like grill char than a burger in places. –The fish sandwich didn’t include everything described on the menu and was a real disappointment for my wife. –The server didn’t seem particularly interested in us, we saw her to order, clear the table and bring the check. We were unable to get additional drinks because of the inattention. You can get better food and service for the same(or less) money elsewhere in the city. This just isn’t worth the time.

We decided to do take-out here seeing that they just reopened. Building and interior is definitely nicely done. I ordered the«Portuguese» steak sandwich and my wife decided to go with the Mediterranean salad. My «Portuguese» steak was hardly and barely a Portuguese steak style sandwich. It was truly more like a traditional steak sandwich. No Portuguese marinade as you would traditionally get at establishments such as Caravela’s, etc… I requested to get additional garlic. They added the garlic to the sandwich. No biggie, however it was uncooked. Yes… RAW!!! Who eats raw garlic!!! It lacked flavor and had very small amount of fries. Wife’s salad had a very small amount of feta and had no dressing. I realize that they just opened, hopefully things improve! Price was average, but average pricing doesn’t mean getting served raw garlic in a sandwich, bland food, and small portion. Best of luck Mesa! Hoping for better results in the future.

Well it feels good to be back. I really missed this place. The building looks wonderful. The food is still amazing i still recommend the pork and clams! We also had the shrimp Mozambique app very good and also the buffalo chicken pizza everything was delicious. They are not accepting reservations and it was busy on a friday night but i noticed there were alot of empty tables and people were not being seated. The hostess quoted us a wait time of an hour and we were seated in 20 minutes. Food came out fast. I was standing near hostess booth and it seemed every time a new party walked in she would add a half hour to wait time expected which deterrered alot of people especially when quoted a 2hour wait time. The people who stuck it out like myself were seated way faster than that. Dont let long wait time deter you. Didn’t seem accurate. Cant wait to be back.

Mesa 21, in my opinion, has one of the best pizzas in the area. They have their specialty pizza options on the menu but those have a lot of meat toppings that we’d rather not have(to eat a bit more healthily) or combinations that we’d rather pass on(no disrespect meant, just not our taste). Well, no problem, you can choose from a decent list of toppings and build your own. Disclaimer: I am selfish and do not want to share our custom combination. But they are not shy about adding large quantities of what you ask for(be prepared for large quantities of garlic if that is what you choose!) One of our favorite things to do is to order an appetizer and a large(very) pizza and take half of it home. We freeze it and have it with salads when we stay in(yes we do stay in sometimes). I have only ventured past the pizza once and ordered steak tips and these were quite good too. Other tips — appetizers — try the Shrimp Mozambique, the Cod Fish Cakes, or the Buffalo Tenders(ask for the Tenders, which are not on the menu, if you prefer boneless). Give it a try, have an extra Stella, Shock Top, Goose Island, or Sam Seasonal draft, and enjoy.
