McGovern’s is a favorite of mine. The food is good and reasonably priced. The place is a little dated but the great service always makes up for it. It’s the kind of place that they remember your name and greet you with a smile. I always modify my orders without any issues. They also do some great things for the community.

Hosted my sisters bridal shower brunch on a Saturday morning: Pros: — the price — very affordable — the food: people raved about how delicious the brunch food was — the room: we had the laurel room — it’s bright, sunny and open. It’s been updated for sure and has fairly high ceilings. Spacious enough for 50+ people. — linens and napkins included and they offered to do centerpieces(simple flowers) — we opted to create our own centerpieces. Highly recommend the chair covers as the normal black bulky chairs just are not pretty. — they provided a projector screen and microphone — they allowed us in to the room the night before to decorate Cons: — the service. No one introduced themselves to us or let us know who was running the show. I would ask everyone I saw to help me with something until it got done. The 2 event coordinators who sold us this room didn’t even check in with us a single time until we went looking for them to pay the bill. I told her exactly how I felt and she blamed her waitstaff and said«I’ll tell them» rather than taking any accountability. — communication: no one asked us about our timeline– what we wanted to do and when. What time brunch would be served. When we wanted the cake served. — when guests started showing up, the lights weren’t even on. Had to ask 3 different servers before someone up them on. — guests were showing up and no music was playing as I asked. I ended up going behind the bar and plugging in my own iPad. — we were hosting a «mimosa brunch» — the mimosa toast came with our package. It literally is one or two sips of a mimosa — we were told there would be a bartender«on duty» — he came in once to make a round of mimosas for the bridal party and was never seen again. — we were told there would constantly be a pitcher of mimosas(at $ 15 a pitcher) for the tables. After asking 10 times I gave up — I didn’t see a single pitcher of mimosas. Sorry ladies! — the juice was awful. I would guess concentrated frozen juice. Nasty. Moral of the story — you get what you pay for. There’s a lack of options in Fall River and this room is 1000x better than White’s and doesn’t have the cigar smell of the FRCC. The shower was successful and everyone(but me!) thought it was perfect… I would not bring my business here again.

We had our wedding reception here, come here for Easter dinner parties they have every year, and food and service is still great. The manager who helps with the wedding is also very helpful!

After booking and have a re-pass for my father in law’s meal, on February 26,2016 not only was this restaurant not setup; they did not book a bartender the two servers were rude ! the food was taken off the table before we were done eating and with not enough seating they did not want to set tables to accomadate, they wanted everybody to go find a hole to sit at, so the families could not be together to grieve !

An old décor and little outdated feeling inside the restaurant. Service and food were good .Very decent prices and large portions. Good place to get all your family together.

Went tonight with a group of friends and family. The wait staff was very nice. Quick service. Food was average, a little pricy for what was given. I choose a Guinness Burger… Nothing out of the ordinary. However, if I’m paying 9.95 for a burger, I’m looking for hand made patties, not frozen. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, no big complaints. They close really early how ever… Weeknight are 730! Friday and Sat 830. Would go back if I had to

Last week I used this restaurant for a funeral breakfast. The wait staff was professional and amazing considering the situation. The food was good.

I went there for a brunch. The food was good but bland. The head server was excellent! His support staff was slow and stood around. The bartender was rude and disrespectful of people’s ethnic origin. I won’t be going there for any function I put together that’s for sure. I expect more from an establishment that’s been around as long as this one.

You definitely get bang for your buck here. The food tastes like that it’s straight from my grandmother’s kitchen! Once I was seated it took a little longer than I would have liked to order my food… but other than that… awesome!

We went for my niece’s wedding and the location was convenient for many folks coming from surrounding MA and RI. The ceremony had a beautiful view and the ceremony organizer was helpful and friendly. The food was plenty and very good; specifically the pasta and the sauce and the potato croquette. The steak was a little over done, but the chicken was delicious. We really enjoyed the flaming dessert and it was just as tasty eating it as it was watching it dance to our tables. However, there was one staff person who was really inappropriate, appalling and out of order quite often during the event. I believe his name was Joey. During the bride getting ready for the ceremony, he came into the bridal suite and told the maid of honor getting the bride’s shoes on to hurry up and then he began to help. During the dinner, he approached the bride and tucked her napkin into the front of her wedding gown! His manners were not one would expect from the head waiter. The bartenders were not the most friendly for a wedding. I’d expect more of a welcome when approaching the bar during a happy occasion.

I had my wedding here in August 2014. It was ABSOLUTELYAMAZING! I had a beautiful wedding at a great price. Kathy and Ramona were amazing and very helpful. I had no bad comments at the wedding everyone said they loved it. From the food to the décor nothing was wrong. People are still talking about my wedding. It was perfect! My husband and I have also dined here with our children. The food is excellent from childrens food to ours. Perfect.

Just your average tasting restaurant fare. Living in Rhode Island and having access to the most extraordinary ethnic and seafood dishes, McGovern’s is not a restaurant you’d write home about. Hum drum, ho hum. I had the seafood casserole and when I got home to RI, three hours later, I had stomach cramps and then diarrhea all night into the next day!!! The fish and scallops were probably old!!! We had made reservations that night for Thanksgiving, but we have since cancelled them. We will not be returning. I should have called the next day to report my gastrointestinal difficulties. This is absolutely unacceptable in this day and age when food handling and storage should be front and foremost for restaurant proprietors. Shame on McGovern’s.

Been here a few times and it was great. Tonight I wasn’t so lucky. Our waitress Did t seemed to interested in serving us. Half the table got drinks the other half did not. Half got soup. The other half was never asked. After waiting 25 minutes our order was finally taken. The waitress realized«oh I never gave you bread?» Nope and the check will probably be here before the bread. Unfortunately due to this experience I doubt I will ever return. Word of advice? Hire YOUNGER wait staff that can handle more than 1 table

2nd wedding here in a month! Great time had by all, fast and friendly service from the bar, delicious dinner served by professional banquet staff, would highly recommend this venue! The only regret? That it couldn’t be 10 degrees warmer outside!

If this review were just for the food it would be three stars. The food is A-OK for what it is, which is basic home style comfort food. There will be nothing unique or mind blowing about the food, but it is consistent. I recently attended my niece’s bridal shower in the upstairs Laurel Room. I hadn’t been in this room in years and it was given a nice face lift. Everything was light, bright and airy with large windows looking out over the water. There is a separate entrance to the room on the side so you don’t have to walk through the restaurant. While I didn’t see the large banquet room downstairs I have heard that has been updated as well. McGoverns knows how to put on a function. The shower moved along well, the servers and bartender were friendly and personable and everyone had a good time. We had a buffet style brunch, with eggs, french toast, bacon, ham, potatoes, corn, chicken, fish and pasta salad. There were separate tables with mini desserts and fruit and muffins. The food was hot and decent. I have no complaints about it, just basic home style comfort food. The grounds are lovely, with a gazebo and it is right on the water. From personal experience I know the grounds are good for taking wedding photos as my own reception was there over twenty years ago. Ramona and Kathy seem to be running things now just as well as they were back then. If you are looking for a slightly more affordable option when planning your next function, you should check out McGoverns.

Oh. my… gosh… Why did we wait to come here until the days before we MOVEDAWAY? It’s like walking into Grandma’s house, where she makes the most amazing comfort foods that you almost forgot about until they reappeared on this menu. The Clam Bake(with our without clams) is freaking awesome and it comes with a bowl of butter, regardless of whether you get clams or not. Dipping those potatoes and corn on the cob in butter put me in chubby girl heaven. The Bourbon Tips were so incredibly moist it was hard to believe they were steak tips at all. The sauce was a perfect blend of sweet and salty. Oh my gosh, the Littlenecks and Pork were off the hook. We brought home the extra broth to marinate and make a little portuguese steak with! Also, our waitress was awesome. She was bubbly but not annoying, and got really excited about menu items so much so that we had to order everything she told us! Seriously, I’m bummed we waited so long to come here even though everyone told us to. Comfort food at it’s best, that’s all there is to know. Eat here.
