So the Unilocal location is definitely not on target. Find your directions elsewhere. Unless you are some crazy girl from out of town and you follow the Unilocal coordinates anyway, just keep going straight for a zillion more miles(who could THATGIRL possibly be? hahaha. shame face.). After that you’ll see the entrance on the right. But secretly? I really enjoyed the extra miles. The drive was so scenic! Gorgeous tree-lined roads. The Hwy 111 and the Hwy 30 both were very pretty drives. You’ll reach the picnic area, visitor center, and trailhead just short drive after the turn off. So I can see why this is a popular picnic area. I wish I was 7 years old again so I can play on the playground equipment and not look like an adult creeper. lol. The play area looked so fun!(When I was growing up all we had were sticks and stones. An abacus was the most exciting toy…) The restrooms are nearby and the soda machines are handy. If the Betty Dunn Nature Center is open go ahead and stop in. It’s free and you can pick up a trail map. And look at eerily very real-looking taxidermy. The Cane Creek Falls and Cascades are literally just down the steps. It’s the perfect stops for itty bitty ones or folks who don’t desire a hike. Beyond that you’ll trace the cascades back to Fall Creek Falls. In order to get there you have to cross the suspension bridge. If you don’t like heights do it ANYWAY! Cuz, its actually not that bad.(I remember crossing seriously scary bridges in far more exotic third world places). This is totally fine and very safe. Just be mindful of allowing 5 – 7 people cross at a time.(Cuz I totally didn’t pay attention to that. Strike 2 for me. Oops.) After that, its a proper hike. Bring water. It’s only 1 mile but you’ll be uphill and catching your breath. As you reach the overlook of Fall Creek Falls you’ll see there’s a parking lot and you could have just driven to the top.(and then you’ll think. screw that!) It’s actually the parking area just off the scenic drive nature trail(see above). It’s a gorgeous view. Refreshing. Take all the pics you want. Try to come during peak season for the water so it’s not dried up, etc. From this spot you can continue hiking and descend to the base of the falls. Too bad I didn’t have time and the bathing suit to head down. Next time! The way back always goes quicker and besides, you’ve mastered the bridge already. These falls are perfect for a camping trip and swimming and picnic-ing all weekend. Yup yup.
