Monday for lunch at roughly 12:30 and there are only maybe 5 other tables in the whole place. This makes me nervous because Fairview Heights is a busy lunch area. We noticed on our way in Joe’s Crab Shack is now a no tipping establishment. OK. I ordered the Crab Cake Chipotle Caesar Salad(Romaine lettuce topped with one of our jumbo lump meat crab cakes, black bean corn relish, tortilla strips and chipotle Caesar dressing.) It was fresh and quite tasty. My lunch date ordered the Southern Stuffed Shrimp which he very much enjoyed. It was $ 39 for lunch which might be a little steep and perhaps is why they only had 6 tables at 12:30pm. The service was friendly and maybe slightly absent after the meal was delivered but fine. I hadn’t been to this chain in many years but I enjoyed my lunch and I would return at someone else’s request.

The food is decent. Rude host. Caters to children. $ 4.19 Bud Light Draft — I don’t think so.

Visited the Joe’s Crab Shack in Fairview Heights on Saturday April 23rd and the experience was great, we will definitely be going back. Some details of our visit. My wife and I decided to start off with the Crab Nachos. The chips appeared to be made in house and the cheese was mixed crab meat. The nachos were topped with a creamy avocado sour cream and the cheese sauce was mixed with crab meat and the portion was more than generous. For our dinner we went with the Joe’s classic steam pot for two and we selected potato’s and corn instead of fries and hush puppies. They use Old Bay seasoning as the spice in the boil and everything was very flavorful. We each had some king crab legs and Dungeness crab legs, there was also shrimp and smoked sausage. After it was said and done we really had a good time and the food was great. I have to say that its better than the seafood place just up the road from Joe’s. The atmosphere is very vibrant and the wait staff make the experience even better.

We’ve been there three times and each time the food was cold and had a bad smell it’s OK if you like greasy food

I dined at this location last Saturday night. I’ve dined at other locations and had perfectly fine experiences. This time however, I cannot say the same. Upon sitting at the table my boyfriend and I noticed a sign indicating that tips were not accepted by the wait staff. Curious about this, I got out my phone and looked into this information further. It turns out that the corporate company is testing a new policy in which they raise the menu prices to compensate for the increased wages of the normally tipped employees who are no longer allowed to accept tips. While I initially thought that this was an interesting policy, I quickly changed my mind as the meal wore on. The word tip stands for«to insure promptness» and let me assure you, when this concept was removed from the dining experience, so was the promptness. The motivation to please the customer no longer was a relevant concept and it was obvious. When I brought my displeasure up to the manager on duty, she discounted my frustration and argued with me about how wonderful this new policy is, meanwhile my server was standing within eyesight chatting with another server and a customer. And I say chatting because she was smiling and in no hurry whatsoever to move the additional 10 feet into the kitchen to get me the butter that I needed and specifically requested minutes earlier to begin eating the now even more expensive crab that is beginning to get cold while I wait. I have been a server for the majority of my working life and when I sat and did the math while waiting for my butter I discovered quite quickly that these servers are now making less than half of what they would on a normal Saturday night. $ 15 an hour is not enough to justify working a busy night in a restaurant unless you are going to allow tipping as well. No longer is there any real desire to work a busy night when you will make just as much money on the slower shifts like Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This policy is awful and the only one benefitting is the corporate company. Shame on you Joe’s Crab Shack! I will not return to a location that has this policy. I would rather pay more in tips and know that my money is going to someone that worked directly for me and wanted to make my dining experience better in that moment than wonder just how much of my money went into corporate’s pocket. And if you are going to have a policy such as this, inform your managers to stand behind the policy but also appease a customer that is bearing the negative repercussions of said policy when the server is more interested in socializing than serving.

Sooooooo… Went back for a friend’s going away annnnnnd probably will never going back. Of course the seafood is always good but, they raised the price so that the one margarita was 9.99… i ordered a normal raiging steamer and 3 margaritas ended up paying alittle less than 70 bucks that was without the tip for the waitresses who worked their butt off to serve a big group. Of course the food is always slow as usual. There were only handful of tables but the food was still slow and oddley the drinks were super slow too. hmmmm some of the co-workers ended up ordering the drinks at the bar. Take away tips and raised the price… Well done. Joe, well done.

DON’T BOTHER!!! My wife and I stopped here on the way home from Louisville, Ky. Sunday Sept. 27th, We were seated quickly but things went down from there, we waited approximately 10 minutes before the manager noticed we looked a little irate and quickly came over and asked if we had been helped yet, we politely said no and told her we were ready to order our drinks and food. Our waitress(Kristen) was seen once during our stay, but we can’t blame her because she was running all over the place. And to the waiter who LOUDLY told everyone he waited on around us about his first country concert that he attended(Florida Georgia Line) the night before, take the drink/food orders first and strike up conversation second!

We are here 2 – 3 tmes a month. In general service is good as is the food. The last several times we’ve come, the hostess station is severely lacking. More often than not, you barely get a greeting. Tonight I stood there for 2 minutes before our presence was acknowledged. The we’re 3 hosts standing there. not a great first impression. UFC on the TV. Kinda gross not kid friendly.

We had the best waiter ever!!! The best waiter of all times Kenshiro. I mean he was outstanding! I prefer this location over the one in St. Peter’s because it is not as crowded during key hours. The caesar salad isn’t good but everything else we ordered was. We had the TKO punch, shark bite and mudslide-which was classically delish. Thursday’s are ½ price cocktails. The calamari was very good and the dipping sause wasn’t marinara-thank goodness which I do not like with calamari. I ordered the queen crab bucket-garlic which was plentiful, hot and steaming with corn on the cob and new potatoes. I love how they stock the table with all your essential items needed for crab cracking in abundance and the manager walks around to check on your table.

Best food, best atmosphere! I will never pass by another Joe’s Crab Shack! I could live on the Crazy Good Crab Dip. Servers are very good, hostess station is friendly upon arriving and leaving. Food came out in a timely manner and was delicious!

I don’t make it here often, primarily because it’s no where near my house. Traveling back from a long drive, I decided to stop here because I remembered how awesome their Crab Dip was and today was no different. Yes, I ate the whole thing by my lonesome! Ha! I tried the Great Balls of Fire also and sorry to say, I didn’t like these as much. Something with the flavor seemed off to me. Oh well, the crab dip was on point.

Joe’s Crab Shack is always fun! My MIL had never been to Joe’s, but she loved the popcorn shrimp at Red Lobster. We thought she might like something different, so we took her to Joe’s Crab Shack. And she really enjoyed Joe’s popcorn shrimp. Oh well! My wife had a crab pot and I had lobster. Both were messy but absolutely delicious. I doubt we’ll ever go back to this location, but we’ll find one closer to home.

This place is a tourist trap. However it is an acceptable tourist trap. Being from Florida I have a taste for shellfish and seafood of all sorts. I went here while traveling with a coworker. It was decided that the price really doesn’t equal the value or quality but when work pays for it… go for it! I would NEVER go here on my own dime but I can easily look the other way when using a corporate card(LOL). The service was REALLY good and my hands were really greasy after eating all the stuff in my steam pot. I have to admit I was still a little hungry after eating everything but at least I was happy from all that crab, lobster and butta! ADVICE: Bring your own wet naps.
