Not good. Ordered the chicken french and the sauce was like a gel, like something from a box. Service not good either. Misical Entertainment on this night was very good though.

The food here is good but not outstanding. A good«go to» place for soup & light fare. Not overly excited about the entrees. There are other restaurants in the area that are better.

I’m only giving 3 stars because I’ve had a 5-star experience here as well as a 1-star. The first time was spot-on and delicious… returned again with the same 4 people and no one had a good meal. So, it’s a hit-or-miss restaurant at best.

This place has gone downhill. Very disappointed in the food and service. Food was overcooked, and waiter didn’t care. Will not be returning.

Our server was friendly and the food was good… but not great. The philly was a little dry and over cooked. But the burger was actually pretty good. The place seemed a little run down, it definitely could use an update.

The Argyle Grill is a small pub overlooking the Eagle Vale golf course in Fairport, NY. It offers a decent selection of beer on tap and the servers are usually personal and knowledgeable. The grill has a full menu of typical pub food and is a great spot for lunch or a Bloody Mary cocktail before an early round of golf.

A friend and I went here for lunch earlier this week. I moved to Fairport recently and bought up as many Groupons for restaurants in the area as I could and this was the first place I wanted to try. Our waitress was very attentive — brought us our drinks, lunch, and check promptly. We started with French Onion soup and it was a very large ‘cup’ of soup, and pretty well seasoned. I added salt, but I have a problem with salt. My friend thought it was perfect. We both ordered salads — I got the California Walnut salad and ordered without the bleu cheese(because bleu cheese on salads is an abomination) and I was pleased to see that it actually came out sans cheese! Often times the waitresses just forget completely. Bonus points for her. My friend got the Calamari Salad. It came with an appetizer sized portion(so, a lot) of calamari over a mixed green base with balsamic I think. The portions here are quite big and the prices are very reasonable considering the size. Overall I’d definitely go back, it probably won’t knock you socks off but it’s a great value and has good food. A fun place to grab a meal.

What happened? When I lived in Fairport a few years ago, and when my friend worked at the golf course, we ate here all the time and it was always good! Maybe I picked the wrong meal item, but my dinner last weekend left much to be desired. My friend had the buffalo chicken wrap with waffle fries and seemed pleased with her choice. I tried the ‘Iron Horse Sandwich’ which I would liken to their version of a french dip sandwich. I ordered it without cheese, but holy moly, it was the toughest beef I’ve had in a sandwich like this in recent memory! I may be in the minority, but I always prefer a thinner sandwich, especially in one like this, where the slices of beef were cut much thicker than I’d prefer. The au jus that came with it was tasty if not a touch salty, and sweet potato french fries were very tasty, but man. That sandwich. Yuck. I would be willing to give this place one last try, as our waitress was very nice, and they were very accommodating to my friend’s energetic toddler. But please, fellow Unilocalers, steer clear of the Iron Horse!

We went to the I got grill last evening with four friends. I had the fish fry it was good not great, probably worth a good four stars out of five. My wife had an omelette and tater tots which I thought was very unusual for something ordered at 9 o’clock at night but it was a very good one and one of the best she’s had — much tastier and larger than the one at Fraiche. She definitely likes the Argyle more than I do but I’m not negative on it. There’s not a lot of choice for later evening dining in Penfield. Places like the gosh awful Mexican place up the road are not comforting so I’ll still give them 4 stars here. The suburbs needs more later evening choices.

They have a bar area which makes it a great place to go watch a football game and enjoy dinner/drinks. They have multiple TVs and satellite so you get to see many of the games that aren’t on TV that week. In addition they have another section for regular diners(split off from the bar). The menu then moves away from traditional bar food. Both sections are kid friendly and makes it a good place to take the family — either to watch the game or have a nice meal out.
