Went the other night with some coworkers from work. This is a great place in the area. Nice selection of beers and wine. The appetizers were delicious and entrees cooked perfectly. I had the goat cheese app which was very tasty. Pretzel sticks were lightly buttered in a herb butter. I had the peppered steak sirloin which was seasoned and flavored perfect. No need to add anything which is the way a steak should be. We sat at the bar which was a nice experience and the bartender was great in selecting nice beers for us to enjoy.

One the most average/below average $ 40 two person meals I’ve ever had. Service was fine. I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich in hopes of getting in touch with my boyhood memories, and was disappointed. It’s not that the food was horrible, it was just barely ok bar food. We detoured off hwy 69. Would not return. Fries were barely warm, the 8 $ goat cheese appetizer was yuck, and we had to ask for it after our meal was served.

I went here with two friends for dinner. Two of us had a burger. The other had the meatloaf. We got the pork belly for an appetizer. The pork belly had a great cranberry sauce on it. We actually liked the sauce better than the pork belly itself. It just seemed like a big, chewy slab of meat. It would have been nice to have some bread or crackers with it. Our burgers were delicious. The bacon jam accompanying them was absolutely amazing. My friend said that her meatloaf was the best she’s every had. Service was fine but I wish our waitress was a little friendlier. Cute country atmosphere.

Great beer and wine selection. You know what beat that? The food. Awesome. I was ready to firebomb this part of Indiana just because of the food choices, until I discovered Grains and Grill. Awesome. I had the«Kickin Chicken» and my partner had the net York strip. As an appetizer we had the 3 Floyd mushrooms. The mushrooms were really good but what took them to the next level was the cocktail sauce. I’m a Ranch guy, but my server Megan said I should try the cocktail sauce. Incredible. Best I ever had. Hands down. The owner Tray came out and asked how everything went which always makes me fell like its a real dining experience. A bit off the beaten path, but I Highly recommend.

I have been there more than once. It is a converted grain and feed building and they have done a wonderful job of renovating this location. The food has been consistently very good, the service has been consistently good and the drinks have been consistently very good. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. One of the signature appetizers is a pretzel stick with beer cheese dip, very good and worth the money to order. Steaks have been good, fish is good… for a small town this restaurant is worth a trip or two.

We stopped at Grains & Grill on a fall Friday night. We were in route from Indy to southern Michigan, and needed dinner somewhere along the way. We passed a hundred chain restaurants, always in search of something unique, and found G&G on Unilocal.I thought we might miss the crowd given that a lot of people opt for high school football at that time, but I was wrong. The place was buzzing, including a big birthday party. It had only been open a few months and already had a number of good reviews, so I was intrigued. It wasn’t too far off of Interstate 69, so not a big dent in our travel schedule either. I called to get on the«call ahead seating list» mentioned on their outgoing voicemail, but found that they open seats at the bar, which is the best seat in the house, so no need for a table. We arrived, sat, and were quickly greeted by the bartender, Payden(sp?). We talked a bit about the menu, which was concise, but full of great options. We learned about the specials, but really weren’t hungry enough for a huge meal, so we shared the pretzel sticks with beer cheese appetizer, and then split the house burger. Both were excellent! Since we were traveling, I couldn’t really enjoy the bar offerings, but the bourbon selection was really solid, especially for a bar in Indiana, and really surprising for a small town saloon. I’m guessing they had 15 to choose from, and some unique labels. The tap was probably 15 strong, and the staff was pouring a lot of beer! Everything inside is new. The dining room and bar are a little on the rustic side, fitting perfectly with the history of the building being a former farm implement dealer. The patio outside runs the length of the building, is stocked with comfy chairs, and might be the second best seat in the house. Even though we didn’t see it, Barry(the owner) told us that they have a banquet space behind the bar/kitchen area, and are already expanding it. Sounds like good news for the Grain & Grill. If you’re rolling on I-69, detour to Fairmount for dinner. You won’t regret it!

I just moved to Marion and was very excited to find this place. There doesn’t seem to be many local places in Marion and the ones that I have found so far don’t have a menu that’s close to the one here. First, the craft beer taplist is very nice, a great selection with great representations of most styles. Second, the menu has great choices that I need to go back and try. I got the house burger this time as I almost always crave a good burger and this burger turned out to be fantastic. Another thing that caught my attention is they had shark. Shark! In small town Indiana. That’s pretty cool. Third, great service. Waitress stopped by a lot. Food came out pretty quickly. I also spoke with one of the owners and she was very nice. I’ll be back a lot to work my way through the menu and as a huge craft beer nerd I’ll probably be back just to sit at the bar and enjoy a few beers.

This place has it all, a wonderful menu that is always kept original and many made to order items not included in the menu. The steak was out of this world for such a new place, in a wonderful little town. A great selection of draft beers always on tap. The Owners and Chef visit the tables and make you feel right at home.

Unexpected gem in a small town. The food was delicious! Started off with the pretzel sticks and finished up with ribeye and cajun shrimp mac’ n cheese. Purchased some pretzel sticks to take home as they were the best we’d ever had Just wish they sold them to you frozen so you can continue to enjoy them weeks later. Great, attentive service. Reasonably priced for the food and drinks.

Excellent food during 3 visits recently! Love all the choices of draft beer, get a flight to sample the options. The Mac and Cheese is out of this world and the beef tips with veggies was superb! The burgers are a great choice too; a big, juicy patty packed with flavor and topped with a lightly toasted and G&G branded bun. If you’re looking for more of an Indiana staple, try the Pork Tenderloin; perfection in terms of batter and still moist inside. Loved the gravy that accompanied the tenderloin. It’s hard to save room for a delicious entrée when you’ve had yummy appetizers like pretzel sticks and hummus though. Great options for kids too, their«Little Farmers» menu offered delicious options for my kids. The atmosphere was family friendly, yet offered more private options inside or out if its date night. Good service, people and food… this is Fairmount’s finest right here!

What a surprise to find a great place like this. This isn’t a «fast food, chain, with, warmed up or greasy fried food.» The meals are individually prepared, plentiful, & «high end» priced. There is a choice of seating, & they even have a big screen /bar area. The wait persons were overwhelmed with their chores, so getting the check & paying took longer than getting the meal & eating. Beware, there is the«grain bin» odor, as you walk in the door.

I’ve been going to the G & G since it opened and have tried many appetizers and most all entrees. I adore the tomato basil soup so hope they continue to keep it on the menu. Steaks and burgers are yummy, and the two breaded pork tenderloin entrees are done well – a Hoosier staple that we crave. They went from a small skillet of sweet cornbread to corn muffins, which is great(could never eat all that.) Portions are spot on and explained well. Fish tacos – so good – Is an appetizer and could easily be a light supper. What I love is that we now have a good restaurant right in town and I don’t have to drive to Indy or Ft. Wayne, though those people might want to check out Fairmount’s own. Have a problem? Owners bend over backwards to make it right – small town friendliness exemplified! And their chef puts a local spin on dishes, but is hip to progressive innovation. I love it that there is a large herb garden, the ambience of the inside and out décor is so beautiful – and if you love beer, don’t forget the 16 taps!

My wife Kate and I had a very nice visit tonight at Grains and Grill in Fairmount, Indiana . I used to work with the owners Barry and Joanie several years ago. I knew they started this new restaurant from scratch… we just had to see. The Grains and Grill has a nice comfortable vibe to it. Something along the lines of an upscale sports bar. Very nice. Everything is new, with some old lighting and decorations. I started out with a flight of 4 of their dozen or so craft beers. It was a fun way to get things going. The food was great ! An eclectic menu of good comfort food, prepared and presented with an upscale touch. My wife had an entrée of thinly sliced smoked salmon with nice Callameta Olives, and a Parmesan cream sauce, served over whole wheat penne pasta. She loved it. I had a house meat loaf with sweet potato hash, brussel sprouts, and a sweet onion sauce covering it all. This was served with a generous portion of corn bread served with a tasty honey. I had a house salad prior, with a tasty chili lime vinagerette. There were several desserts available. We both simply were too full. I highly recommend Grains and Grill. They have call ahead seating, which we used. They have been quite busy, but the staff hustles and gets people seated and served as quick as possible. The chef has it going on… Everything is prepared to order and presented wonderfully. The staff is polite and helpful. Their pastry chef has some nice treats. The appetizers look wonderful. And of course, Joanie is simply the best. Sorry we couldn’t meet up with Barry tonight. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will be back. Grains and Grill is 5 stars all the way !

We have enjoyed several dinners here. All have been gracious in size and the quality of the food was beyond my expectation. The service is good not great, yet, but with time and training I believe it will be equal to the menu! We enjoyed dining on weekends which gives you a vibe of a trendy pub in Indy or other large metro area and during the week the food and staff are just as accommodating as a swank out of the way upscale establishment. Every time we have had the pleasure of dining here we have been personally approached by one or both owners. One of our new favorite places! It’s nice to not have to travel an hour or more to get such a great combination of fantastic food, assortment of craft beers on tap and a relaxing atmosphere. There isn’t anything I don’t like about this place!

I am not sure what all the fuss is about when it comes to the restaurant. The food was ok, the service was not the best, and the wait was an hour and a half. Personally, I will not be back.
