First of all, just stop reading this review and go get your ice cream. You won’t be disappointed. The ice cream is delicious, the ingredients are quality, the portions are huge, and the prices are cheap. The ice cream cones are gigantic. Stick with the small, it will be plenty. They have vanilla, chocolate and raspberry soft serve; flavorburst in several flavors, and hand-dipped. They have a blizzard type desert called an Avalanche that comes in a ton of different varieties. They also have snow biz, which is like the shaved ice you can get at a fair. They also have food that I’ve been told is good, but I’ve only had the ice cream. This place is a must-try. Put it on your WV bucket list.

This place is just WOW. The place has a very old timey, classic ice cream shop feel to it for being in West Virginia. It’s always packed with locals and travelers! It’s open seasonally, and serves amazing soft serve dishes and classic picnic foods such as burgers and hot dogs. We had the funnel cake sundae with vania ice cream and butterscotch for $ 5.50. Between the two of us, we couldn’t finish it. It was beyond delicious, yummy, and filling. Everything tasted fresh and up to par with my expectations. They have very large serving sizes but only take cash. Be prepared to wait in lines as everyone near and far will flock here for an amazing treat.

Who doesn’t love this place?! Ice cream is amazing, probably my favorite place in town to be honest. They are always«line out the door busy» and still take the time to talk and answer questions with each customer. Only downside is that don’t accept card so make sure to bring cash!

Overall Rating:(4⁄5) «Great» A true definition of a hometown dive, hidden gem, or local favorite, Dairy Cream Corner offers monster ice cream cones and local WV cuisine with a genuine small-town charm that makes this place perfect for a summer meal on a nice hot day in Fairmont. Full Review: Food(4⁄5) «Great» Dairy Cream Corner offers some of the largest portions we’ve seen for its frozen desserts, namely the ice cream cones. It’s great to take a first-timer and see their reaction when they order a large ice cream cone. The clerk literally has to turn the cone to serve it out of the walk-up window. No joke. Aside for the huge dessert menu featuring every frozen dessert imaginable, this little dive also offers a full menu classic summer foods served WV style. Hot dogs with sauce(not chili!!), pepperoni rolls, and plenty of other local foods are a good representation of the assortment available in North Central WV. The quality of the food is not anything special, but we’re talking about good ‘olé American summertime grub here – not a special occasions type of place. Service(3⁄5) «Average»: This is a order-at-the-counter restaurant, so there isn’t much service to speak of other than the friendly faces behind the counter. Value(5⁄5) «One of the best»: We challenge you to find a bigger cone for less. Anywhere. Atmosphere(3.5 /5) «Good»: This place is a prime example of a classic dive. Literally on the corner of two streets, this small shack of a restaurant is surrounded by parking to accommodate all of the business it receives during the warmer months(it is closed in the winter). There is a walk-up window and picnic tables for outside dining, as well as a few tables inside the small building. It all works in a kind of warm, old-fashioned kind of way that makes you feel very comfortable while you dig into your enormous pile of food. Scoring Weights: Food — 50%, Value — 20%, Service — 20%, Atmosphere — 10%. After all, food makes a restaurant – everything else is just the figurative sugar and cherry on top. Final Ranking: .8 and .9 is awarded the next level up for final ranking. For example, 3.8 is awarded 4 stars.

The Dairy Crème Corner is the definition of a Hidden Hometown Gem. It doesn’t advertise, instead letting the quality of the product and word of mouth do that in its behalf. The food is exactly what you want on a hot summer day — be it nachos, hot dogs, mozzarella sticks, funnel cakes and of course the ICECREAM. The Dairy Crème Corner is not open during the Fall, Winter or early Spring. Growing up in Fairmont, the opening day of the DCC was pretty much a city-wide holiday every spring. The same could be said about the final few days that it would be open each year — we all had to stock up because we knew it would be a long, cold winter ahead. Idyllic is the only word to describe the DCC. On any given day, it is filled to beyond capacity(it is ALWAYS filled beyond capacity, be prepared) with young couples in love, friends killing time, people headed home from the public pool, little league teams and so on. Imagine what an ice cream shop in The Sandlot would be like. Whenever I take someone to the DCC who has never been before, I don’t normally tell them this, but you Unilocalers are getting some inside information. The portions are HUGE. As far as cones go, there is the Baby, Small, Medium and Large. The baby cone is just as big, if not bigger than a medium at other places such as Dairy Queen. Order accordingly. My childhood summers revolved around the Dairy Crème Corner. That is why it was so hard to give it four stars. If Unilocal would allow half-star ratings, I would have given it 4.5 stars. Its just that Fairmont is not the greatest town on Earth, at all. And the Dairy Crème corner is located in the less-well-to-do area of the city, so sometimes the clientele is just… strange. No trip to Fairmont, or any of the surrounding counties is complete without a stop to the Dairy Crème Corner!

This place is always a great place to go when it’s hot out or you just want some ice cream. They are cheap and WAY better than Dairy Queen. Dairy Queen has pathetic ice cream cones compared to this place. A large DQ cone is probably the equivalent of a baby cone here. Most people don’t need more than a medium cone to be satisfied. They also have a great selection of comfort food. I’ve never had anything I didn’t like there. You can tell it’s good just by the amount of people outside the place once it is nice out. Great place to eat!
