Big Daddy’s Grill

Great fried seafood of all kinds and one in our party had a burger he said was wonderful. A bit greasy, though. Love the location on the fish river, and off the beaten path enough that there aren’t any tourists. Live music on weekends, but I loved the peacefulness on a Monday.

The food is excellent! The service was fast and our waitress checked on us multiple times throughout the night. The food is a little expensive but it taste worth it. The location is wonderful and makes me want to come bad just for the view. Live music was also a really nice touch!

Great, casual, local dining experience. The Mahi is always perfectly cooked. The gumbo is one of the best around. Friendly and professional wait staff. Can’t go wrong here.

Great place on Fish River. We sat outside and enjoyed drinks/​entrees last night. Try the smoked tuna dip. You won’t regret it!

Great food, location and service.
Main downside, is the lack of non-​fried dishes. The blackened fish wrap, one of the only non fried plates, is very good.

Right on the water, this is a hidden, but prime location. The service here is wonderful, and everyone is very welcoming. We came at an off hour so it wasn’t too busy, and we ordered a very large meal.
My boyfriend and his dad shared the big daddy basket, his mom got the oyster basket, and I got the crab claw basket. The hush puppies were perfect and reminded me of being home in Virginia. The coleslaw was delicious as well, as were the sweet potato fries, however standard. The crab claws were a little flavorless but the cocktail sauce helped out. All in all, a little pricey but the portions are huge. I finished almost all of my food, except about a third of the claws and a few fries. It was a pound of crab claws though, so I was pretty impressed with myself.

Great food, service. If it wasn’t raining outside seating on river would be fabulous. Our server was great. Mo Dat sauce waa wonderful. In fact we found it later in the weekend and bought some to take home

I love this restaurant! The seafood is delicious, the crab claws are so amazing! You need to try them! Service is wonderful as well, everyone is very kind and attentive. The wait is not extremely long, perfect timing for when the food should arrive! The bartender Jason is freaking spectacular! Just go here, you won’t regret it!

I can see other people like Big Daddy’s as well. Great food and it won’t break the bank. Particularly nice on a summer evening with the sun still up. Great outside deck and right on the Fish River. One could pull his boat up to their dock. I’ve only had oysters and shrimp, what else on the gulf, and it is very good. Make sure your ticket doesn’t already include the tip. One thing, Big Daddy’s is not in downtown Fairhope, it’s several miles out and you’ve got to be looking for it to find it. It is well worth the short drive.

It doesn’t happen very often that I am extremely surprised with new restaurants but this grill surpassed my expectations!
When I go to a new place for the first time, I usually ask my waiter for their suggestions. This time she suggested several of the wraps. My daughter and I also wanted some fried crab claws but did not care to pay for the current market value for ½ lb (like 17 $ or something) so our waitress suggested the kids meal with which we also get one side! How nice is that! 9 $ instead! Whooohoo! So our final order was blackened shrimp wrap with fries (would’ve liked for a more exciting side but oh well) & grilled Mahi mahi wrap & the kids crab claw meal with hushpuppies.
Blackened shrimp had just the right amount of seasoning and the fries were hot! My daughter said her grilled mahi was great! But what REALLY made the wrap was their homemade sauce… it reminded me of remoulade sauce with more kick and a smidge of smoke! YUMO! The crab claws were superlicious and the perfect amount!!! The service here was super speedy! We had limited time and had actually planned to take our food with us if we had a long wait time but we were in and out of there within an hour so it was perfect! Lana, our waitress even offered us a blanket b/​c it was a tad chilly out! How sweet! She met whatever needs we had before we had time to realize we needed something! She was fabuloso! Definitely going back!

Always great food and atmosphere. Menu has changed a little. Didn’t care for chicken strips but Philly steak was awesome! Coldest beer in town!

Great view on the Fish River. Hidden spot on the back roads that locals love. Friendly staff! I recommend the smoked tuna dip or the spinach dip for appetizer and if you get the big daddy burger you better be hungry. Try one two or maybe even more of their signature bushwacker drinks! Love this place and you will also. Kid friendly, large groups handled with ease all with the true southern hospitality you would expect to recieve in Baldwin County. As always enjoy and if your looking for a fishing guide on the Alabama Gulf Coast! Your really really hot. Friend request me. Tight lines!

This is our favorite spot in Baldwin County to buy a burger. We only go on pretty days, so we can sit outside and face the water. We live nearby and have kayaked to the restaurant, we’ve come on a pontoon boat, and we’ve come on our motorcycle. This is where we always take our out-​of-​town guests. My mother-​in-​law especially loves the fried pickles. I love the sweet potato fries.

Great place indoor and outdoor seating. Sand yard for kids to play.

We stopped in here for a quick bite to hold us over for an early dinner, and Big Daddy’s was a perfect place to visit along Fish River. You can come by boat or car. It’s casual with good food and good service. No complaints!
We split a pound of fried crab claws to start. They were okay, but not the best I’ve had. It was hard to get the meat off the claw for most of them. I ordered a grilled shrimp wrap and it was pretty good. I just indulge on local seafood while I’m here. It came with sweet potato fries, which were too soggy for J’s liking, but i liked them.
My parents-​in-​law split a patty melt and it was also good. No frills, but made well. That’s the general theme of Big Daddy’s.
We had some drinks, but I can’t remember the names. They have a full bar inside.
If you’re looking for a simple but good place to eat, Big Daddy’s is it. And, it has a nice view of the river, too!
Also, if you’re coming by boat, you can’t bring your dog, and you need to have clothes and shoes on in order to eat there!

Update: I’ve updated my review based on the fact that any restaurant that managed to handle so many youngsters and communicate so well, while succeeding at all aspects of the food service industry truly deserves 5 stars!
We came in with a soccer team consisting of boys 8 – 10 years old, their older and younger siblings and the parents and friends, 25 or so in total. Service was exceptional, especially considering the fact that only one person took care of all us.
The ambiance was incredible as the restaurant backs right up to a lake and is hidden among a canopy of trees and moss.
What I ate was unexceptional, but in no way bad. The blackened chicken was less zesty than anticipated and the salad basic but very fresh.
Pricing was decent and all the kid’s meal were 6 dollars each including drinks.

We have been Lovin on Big Daddy’s for many years! When I crave good old Gulf Coast Oyster PoBoys, Big Daddy’s is my go to.
Beautiful setting on the Fish River. Indoor and outdoor seating make it easy to enjoy the mystique of the river.
Most recently I ordered the ½ oyster/​/​/​½ soft shell crab PoBoy– so great! For a healthier option try their Gumbo, it’s perfect just like my mamma would make!
I finished off my meal with a Bushwacker… It’s the holiday season a time for splurging!
Never ever had a bad meal at Big Daddy’s Grill!

At first glance, this might appear to be your standard waterside fried seafood dive. I was pleased to find a fun and lively place with really solid food.
The blackened shrimp and fried okra that I tried were both fantastic. Our waitress did awesome. The kids had fun in the huge sandbox, and I had fun with a cold beer. The band playing the patio was a nice touch.
This place is not fancy, but it sure was fun.
