A pleasant surprise to a place hidden off of the post road. I ordered the rigatoni boccelli as well as the filet mignon and I have to say they were two of the better dishes I have had in a long time. This goes especially for the filet. Topped with mushrooms and a Gorgonzola sauce the filet more than hit the mark for what a good filet should taste like. It was tender and the Gorgonzola with the mushrooms was sublime. I have eaten filets at a lot of different restaurants and this easily ranks up with the best I’ve ever had. The pasta was very pleasing as well with a perfect balance between the pancetta and red sauce. My parents had the veal saltinbocca and from what I tasted and their opinions, this also gets highly rated. This restaurant is definitely on my list to try again in the future and despite the pricing, which is a little on the high side(not at all different from other higher end Italian though), I highly recommend giving it a go when you’re in the mood for Italian.

Where’s Gordon Ramsey? I find it very difficult to support a restaurant that has no standard set for themselves. I took my mother out for what I hoped would be a nice lunch. The place was dead empty. The female owner is wearing flip flops. The male owner could care less about being there. Fine. No big deal. But when I ask for gin martinis and specify the gin I want, please don’t give me well gin. As they say, don’t spit on me and tell me it’s raining. I know my gin. The bread was from yesterday and they microwaved it fresh for us. Hi. I asked for fresh bread, and she said it hasn’t come out of the oven yet. By the time our meal was finished, I guess the bread was still baking because we never got it. We ordered the eggplant app and it was so overly dense with ricotta cheese filling. The mushroom pasta was beyond bland and no matter how much salt I added, I just had crystallized chunks on random bites. Plus it was over loaded with sauce that you couldn’t even taste the pasta. The chicken and sun dried tomato pasta had the most dry chicken that tasted a day old at least and had barely any sauce nor garlic. A big rip-off! Gordon needs to make this place over and the owners need to hold up to the standard that I’m sure they once had. Sad. So far CT has crappy Italian food. As a native Long Islander, I need some good Italian. Anyone recommend?

Food was good, service deplorable. You should make sure your customers are out of earshot before making derogatory comments about them. Ease up on the salt, slice your carpaccio a little thicker and your onions less so. Pastas were great. Get rid of the waitress

Stay away! I want to preface this review by stressing that I have never reviewed a restaurant on the web ever. Cross my heart. My experience was so poor/bad that I thought it would only be fair to warn folks that may take a chance on this place. DON’T! Wanted to take the family out for dinner after an event at Sacred Heart U. Googled Italian Restaurants in the area. How I wish we simply went back to the place we had dinner last time(the other side of the street on Black Rock Trnpk) but wanted to give something else a try. Big mistake! Service was very poor in that the waitress and waiter didn’t crack a smile. They were Robotic and unfriendly bordering on rude. We as a family have eaten in over a hundred Italian restaurants before. We are not snobs or demanding customers. I feel I can safely say that based on much experience that the food was below average to bad. Pasta dishes were like soup in that they were drenched/smothered in sauce. My niece had to search for the Raviolis with a fork and it was hit or miss. And(how dare we) when we asked politely for some extra bread, the waitress looked at us like we committed a felony. Five people, $ 160. before tip(which I am sorry I gave) and it was just bad. I feel like I should have donated that money to a charitable cause rather than spending it at this place. Don’t let the ambiance(which admittedly is very nice) fool you. Seriously, don’t. I’m amazed that there are good reviews from folks claiming to have eaten at the same place. Seriously, I can’t be the only one to have had such an unpleasant experience with both the food and service. Don’t eat here! If you do, you’ll honestly wish you hadn’t! Sorry, but true.

This was our second visit to the restaurant because my first time dining there I had an excellent salmon dinner. I ordered it again and had to send it back. It was overcooked and tasted frozen. Very disappointed.

To put it simple, way over priced! I don’t mind paying for food, but for a neighborhood place its to expensive. The food was good, but only 1 waitress in the whole restaurant, its ridiculous how slow the service is. I think this place wont last!

Decided to try this place as my wife and I saw a deal on Groupon. We went on a weeknight and the place seemed like it was fairly busy, what confused me was there were only 1 waiter and 1 waitress servicing the whole place. We decided to sit outside as it was a nice night. We got menus, water then some bread, after that I don’t know where the service went. The waitress then came to tell us about the menu which she seemed pretty knowledgeable. Ok great, then disappeared again. She seemed way over worked as she was sweating up a storm. After a long while then came back to take our orders, which I had the smoked salmon and my wife ordered a risotto. We then continued to wait and wait and battled off mosquitos that kept flying around as the lighting is really weird outside, not a great ambience.(Lighting was like if you were in a basement or pantry). Anyway, food finally came. The waiter brought out my food and said here’s the tilapia, I said I got the salmon and he’s like oh I think that’s the salmon. It looked like salmon so I took it. First glance, it was not smoked at all. The whole plate looked really soggy as of it was steamed. The bottom of the plate was filled with oil. The rissoto was extremely bland and tasted like rice with some water. After getting our food we did not see any service again, we only were able to catch the manager to get the bill as the neighboring table had gone in to find him and complain. Overall, this place is poorly managed and the food is even worse. I would avoid!

Great food and service, best Italian I have had in a while. Great grilled calamari app, very nice zin and sangiovese wine, handmade pastas were excellent. Quaint atmosphere… sharp but casual. Behind Billy’s bakery so you might miss it in your travels on black rock turnpike in fairfield but make the trip here, it’s worth it.

Great service. Nice décor. Great selection of pasta specials. All delicious. Freshly prepared. I never even looked at the menu. So many specials actually too many to remember and prices not given. A list offered after presentation would’ve been helpful. I was glad I asked the price of the pappardelle with arugula and shrimp. $ 25.95! I asked for a half portion which was more than enough food. Not a hip and trendy place but good food and service and in my neighborhood. Pricey for a dinner with the kids but we were all happy. Ordered half portions for all.

Fairfield in the past couple years has sprung many good Italian restaurants like molto and tomato basil. Tuscany is a great Italian restaurant. It is simply on a different caliber. They treat everyone like family and want to make sure you have a great experience. We have been loyal customers for years and that won’t be changing anytime soon. Rich, the owner, is wonderful. There isn’t a bad thing on the menu or the specials. If they have it try the lobster ravioli you won’t regret it. We like the eggplant rollatini and stuffed peppers appetizers. Their food is consistently great just like the entire atmosphere. Go!

They’re baaaack!!! Once upon a time there was a restaurant in Little Italy in Chicago called Tuscany. I ate there in my post-college days. They expanded to other locations in the Chicago area, but I moved away. 15 years later, a restaurant with the same logo and name opened on Madison Avenue in Bridgeport, half a mile from my office. It seemed like Chi-town had followed me east! Michaela and Diana Rotundi had retired to the area to be near Diana’s family. Bored with the retirement part of the equation, Tuscany Bridgeport was born and my family and friends were delighted. Waiters showed that evening’s appetizers and homemade pastas on display trays as they explained their preparation. And no meal was complete without a complementary glass of Michaela’s homemade lemoncello! The food was superb! It was a sad day when we walked in to find a different permittee’s name in the window. We were told the Rotundis had retired again. And the food was no longer inspired or as tasty. Then Porto opened on the Post Road in Fairfield and the Rotundis were back! And then they were gone.(It was a location that has hosted a series of short-lived eateries with a tiny parking lot. But now they are back — and it is Taylor Street(Chicago) all over again. Last night we went to the new location with dear friends. Michaela and Diana’s son Richard was running the front(not sure who is owner/operator– I didn’t ask) but Richard says his mom is in the kitchen every afternoon. And shortly after the sign went up this summer I pulled into the parking lot(Behind Billy’s Bakery) and had a joyful reunion with Michaela and Diana. The food is wonderful! The menu is a bit smaller, but the pasta is fresh and homemade. The display trays are back, as is thr lemoncello(although we passed on it after two great bottles of wine). And the desserts were great as always. We met Richard for the first time and he is every bit as gracious a host as his parents. If you knew any of the previous Tuscany’s, come home. If you didn’t have the pleasure before, come check it out. You will dine here more than once!
