Used to go there years ago so i took my daughter there during parents weekend at Fairfield U. It was terrible. Eggs were overcooked(how hard is it to do over easy). We had a group of 7 and the waitress came back every 3 minutes trying to get our order, we felt rushed. Wife go the eggs benedict, BIG mistake. THe eggs were hard boiled and the sauce was basically melted butter. DON“T GOHERE

Best souvlaki and baklava in Connecticut. Everything on the menu is fresh made and delicious. Server Soula and her sister Angela are so friendly and make you feel like family. Have the Greek food /you’ll love it!

Half of this place is decked out in late 80’s early 90’s décor. If you can buy into its strange charm, you might get around to ordering the food. This place is GREAT price-wise(at $ 5 per belgium waffle) and the portions are large. They have a very wide variety(like hundreds) of food selections… which made me suspicious. Can any one place possibly make that many foods well? Out of the 4 things my husband and I ordered, we decided the 3 of 4 dishes were at least an 8.5 out of 10. The salad was so-so. Again, worth it(in my opinion) for the $ 20 tab. This place is open late daily and the food is fresh(we ordered at midnight). We will be back… if only to put the rest of the menu to the test.

I prefer the Circle Diner, Chip’s, or the Athena in Southport. The food is just okay, and some items are better than others. The pancakes are good, the fries are under cooked and the burger is mostly bun. The coffee is Meh.

It had been sooo long and we came back for lunch this Saturday. Nice surprise. Great, personal diner service. The kind of turkey club and gyros you would expect at a better diner. Back on my restaurant list… i

For a diner/diner fare, Penny’s II truly is as good as it gets. It is run by a Greek family, with Greek staff, and somebody in their kitchen really knows how to cook. The«house» dressing is more chopped garlic, carrots and onions than red wine vinegar and olive oil: it’s delicious on every salad they make, but their Greek salad is the best I’ve ever had outside Mykonos. They also make their own moussaka, and have the requisite encyclopedic diner menu for anything else one could want. Very glad to have found this place.

Save yourselves the frustration, money, and indigestion and head down the road to the Circle Diner instead. I stopped at this dive on my way home late one night and might as well have eaten out of the dumpster. The soggy hamburger seemed microwaved though the rude manager denied it. After a one bite, I wound up tossing that and the mashed potatoes and gravy which seemed similar to tile grout, though not as tasty. It seems the recent reviews also notice the decline of this once-popular diner that’s on its way out. Maybe the service is better during the day, but expect the worst after that.

Stopped in for a bite coming home, turned out to be about par for a diner. Omelettes are alright, but the bench seats have a slightly flimsy back rest, only noticeable if someone sits on the other side. Overall experience: I liked it

I’ve eaten here since I was but a wee girl, but it wasn’t until the past six months that I was truly blown away. Their menu has gotten an upgrade, their ingredients(and cooking styles) have seemed to as well… It no longer reeks of cigarettes and, probably due to their new opening/closing times, is no longer overrun with high-schoolers. Have eaten here more in the past two months than I have in years, and while I just had their delicious eggs and Belgian waffles this morning I am ready to go back for some chicken salad this evening. If you haven’t gone here in a while I highly recommend you try it again. The price is right for the portions and quality you get. Less expensive than Circle Diner, as well. (I am happy to report they have good coffee for a diner, as well. I have been very happy with it the past three times we’ve ordered with our meal.) You can also reserve their back room if you have a large group coming. I did so on my 18th birthday over 10+ years ago and still remember when they surprised me and my family with a cake!

Frightening. The only people who come here regularly are too old to have food standards, or high school kids. Everything is soggy, bland, and has questionable ingredients. One time our waiter hit on my mom and brought her a re-gifted ceramic«sculpture» at the end of the meal. Eesh. Go to Andros.

Been going to this one and the one in Norwalk for 10 plus years. No surprises, average quality and decent service. Circle Diner is a better choice in Fairfield. They have matzo ball soup and some other local favorites.

I have been going to Penny’s since I was in High School. I had not gone to the diner in a while but decided to go there again. The service for diner food is not the best. I’m not saying that they are bad but they are slower than other diners. I highly recommend going on a Saturday or Sunday for the eggs benedict or eggs rosecliff(poached eggs over tomatoes and bacon on a toasted english muffin with hollandaise sauce)

My friends and I frequented this diner when we were in high school, and my family used to come here whenever we felt like having diner food. However, the last few times I’ve gone here, it’s been awful. The prices are the highest of all the diners in the area, and the waitstaff isn’t the best. The turning point for me, when I decided«No, I’m not coming here anymore» was when I went in around 10pm with a friend of mine, hoping to get dessert. We sat down and saw on the menu what seemed like a glorious idea: a warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top. They listed an option to add hot fudge for an extra charge. We ordered one to share. When they brought it out, there was clearly no hot fudge on the dish, even though we had ordered it. When we brought this up with our waitress(who barely spoke English) had no idea what we were talking about. We showed her the menu, and where it said hot fudge. She was flustered and went to get the hostess or manager, who spoke better English, but not great. In the end, they dumped more chocolate sauce on top of the melting, unappetizing dish that was not what we ordered. They were rude to us and actually said that they didn’t know what hot fudge was. It’s one thing to be out of a product, it’s something else to look at your customers like they’re crazy when they ask for something that is listened on your menu. After this instance, my grandparents went here for dinner and were similarly underwhelmed. Since then we’ve just gone to Andros Diner on Tunxis Hill, or the Circle Diner on the Post Road.

Having grown up in Fairfield, Penny’s has been a pretty solid weekend-morning destination for a very long time. While not my favorite diner nearby, they have a bangin’ vegetarian omelet and give generous amounts for the price you pay. Definitely a great place: it’s exactly what you’d expect from a great Greek diner.

I stopped in here for lunch on the way to a friend’s in New York thanks to a recommendation by my parents, who had eaten here a few times when visiting my brother at Fairfield. I got a spinach and feta omlette and it was fantastic. There was a lot of food for the price, in my opinion. It was the perfect stop, there was plenty of parking, and the restaurant was clean and the waitstaff was very friendly. I’ve never been there at night, so I’m not sure how good it is as a 24-hour joint, but it was perfect for a late lunch. It was easy to get to from the highway and it was easy to get back to the highway, which was important to me since it was only supposed to be a quick stop.

Definitely one of the better diners I’ve been to in CT. Their spinach pie(what I always order, and tend to judge all diners by) is served in generous slabs and seems fresh, and they’re nice about substituting side orders. The vegetables aren’t as overcooked as other diners. They definitely get docked some points for not being open 24 hours, and for not having that many things I can eat. Always clean, and nice atmosphere, except late at night on weekends when the post-bar-hopping crowd comes in.

Great western omelet and the homefries are very good. Been going to Penny’s since I was a kid for at least 25 years. Definately an excellent diner all around. My favorite memory at Penny’s was sitting at the counter next to the President of Saab Cars North America in the 80’s talking about the new Saabs of the day. Thumbs up

This diner was a high school refuge. We would leave town and head south. My town had no diners, no restaurants suitable for punk kids, no 7−11s. So since a friend of mine lived really close, it was a natural. It is pretty typical for diners in this neck of the woods, but my memories make it stand out. Of course, the pie is excellent!
