Excellent sandwiches and friendly service. The meats were killer. We ordered all 3, turkey, pastrami and roast beef. Very lean, moist and delicious! We had a no gluten eater with us and he had just a plate of the meat and was very pleased with it. Very modest setting, large seating area, not fancy or anything. I would definitely recommend going here for the food!

What a place, a hidden gem in Fairfield that I never knew about. Not only is the owner there he makes you feel like family, then the sandwiches are off the hook. Huge portions and great sides too, the mac and cheese was crazy good. I will be going back for sure, thanks Joe!

Roast beef French dip always on point! I’ve been coming here for over 15 years. Never disappoints. This is a dive/diner that hasn’t changed since I can remember, so if you’re looking for a «5 star» experience this isn’t the place as far as aesthetics go, but the food is always amazing!

The only reason why people think this shit is good is because there’s nothing else in fairfield to compare it to! Subway Quiznos own their own Shitty genre!!!

I heard of Joe’s from my coworkers! Joe’s is great but eating it is always messy in a good way. Everyone recommended I get the french dip with mayo, mustard, au jus inside, dipped in au jus and a side of au jus. It’s au jusmazing!!! If you want a hearty sandwich why go elsewhere!?!

I’ve been going to joes buffet since I was a little girl which obviously means the food is great. I usually get the roast beef dipped sandwich with cheddar cheese and the au ju sauce. I always wondered how they keep their salad fresh because every time I order it it’s never soggy. The owner always smiles and greets me right when I walk in and knows exactly what I want. I give 5 stars because the food is delicious, prices are medium and everyone smiles when you walk in.

Amazing sandwiches. They or SOOOO much meat it’s crazy. But any place that I get a whole cup of au jus to dip my sandwich in is an automatic 5 stars for me. Lol.

I can’t believe I haven’t tried this place until today. The staff was very friendly and she knew it was first time and she let me sample anything I wanted. I got the roast beef with French bread and instead having 1 small sides I asked if I could split the small sides in 2 so I can get cole slaw and macaroni salad. And it was very good and a great deal. Everything tasted great. And it got me full, but I was satisfied AF. GREATPLACE, MUSTGO!

Downtown Fairfield’s most coveted sandwich shop… we finally made it. Joe is happily carving meats and sloshing sauces on bread. Large portions of meat are served on a variety of breads. This place is obviously about the meat! Order as you walk in just like subway. There are several people taking orders on the sandwich production line. here is an adjacent room with tons of seating and forks, napkins, aluminum foil, … I had the roast beef as recommended, my son had turkey and cheese The roast beef is served with sauce over the meat as well as one to dunk into. It was certainly moist, but both the sauce and meat were bland. It needed some spice so I was highly disappointed. You still get a good bargain on quantity for your money, but I wanted quality. :( Turkey and cheese was better but still on the plain side. The star of the show was surprisingly the coleslaw! It was delicious, creamy with a little sweetness. Perhaps I will try the pastrami with Swiss and coleslaw the next time I’m here… I won’t go out of my way to return though. Sorry Joe, I really enjoyed your friendliness!

SOGOOD. I hadn’t been back to Joe’s in a while, but came back with my husband and brother while we were in the area. We found parking behind the building and walked in through the back entrance. Joe’s is set up as cafeteria style, so you order at the front and then get to see all the sides they offer before paying at the register at the other end. I got the roast beef sandwich(classic!) but got it with mayo and dijon mustard instead of getting it dipped. You still get a side of jus which is AMAZING! I think I can dip anything into that jus and it’d be yummy. I also got a side of mashed potatoes which was really good too. Overall, everything here is really good and satisfying. I won’t wait so long to come back again!

Love this place. Best place to get sandwiches hands down in northern California. If you haven’t been here you haven’t lived.

2 words: FRENCHDIP. Joe’s has been a downtown Fairfield staple for years and for good reason, great and consistent quality for one hell of a sandwich and amazing sides. You simply cannot go wrong if you choose Joe’s. The only problem is that everyone else chooses Joe’s too so the wait can make one pretty hangry if you get like that.

Ever since I was introduced to this place ~4 years ago, my parents and I frequently get Joe’s roast beef sandwiches every time we’re back in downtown Fairfield. There’s a certain fun to watching them slice the meat right before they plop it down on the bread that makes the experience of Joe’s great!

Great French dip sandwich!!! Super hard not to give Joe’s Buffet(spoiler alert it’s not actually a buffet) 5 stars. The roast beef is melt in your mouth tender, prepared in-house. The au jus is rich and deep in flavor and comes straight from the roast beef itself. The service is 5 star worthy. The owner has been serving up sandwiches for over thirty years and has a heart of gold. The sides are lackluster. The bread and condiments are of poor quality. This is why I knocked down the rating. With the meat and au jus so incredible, along with the great customer service this is certainly a go to lunch spot for Fairfield locals.

I’ve been to Joe’s Buffet twice now and let me tell you, their meat is delicious! Particularly the roast beef. The first time I went, I decided to get a sandwich with three different meats: roast beef, corned beef, and pastrami. I’m glad I got this out of my system and tried three meats my first time, since this lead me to realize that I’ll never get anything but all roast beef again! Not that the other meats weren’t good, but the roast beef is absolutely amazing! My second time I went, I got a meal deal which came with a sandwich and a side. I got all roast beef with a side of mac and cheese, and didn’t even want to eat any of the bread until I ran out of meat. And then I only wanted the bread so I could enjoy more of the amazing sauce! The mac and cheese was alright, but I don’t think i’ll ever get anything here other than the roast beef! So good!

Excellent food, great service, friendly staff, a bit pricey… But Joe’s is AWESOME! The friendly staff greeted me as I walked in and gave me some recommendations on what to order as well as letting me sample the meats they serve. I ordered the pastrami on French roll with American cheese, mayo, mustard, and pickles. I also got mash potatoes and mac n cheese on the side. My sandwich was made perfectly, not sloppy or uneven at all, the meat was juicy and flavorful and the toppings were fresh, perfect! I definitely recommend the pastrami, as well as the mac n cheese!

About 8 years ago, my then-boyfriend/now-husband dragged me here, boasting that it was the best sandwich place in town. He grew up in Fairfield and apparently came here all the time throughout high school. Not sure how often he ACTUALLY ate here though, since he told me that he used to hoard his lunch money and starve himself every week so he could afford Limp Bizkit CDs. Meanwhile, in a town about 80 miles away, I was shoving Otis Spunkmeyer cookies in my face and wondering why no one liked me. Back to Joe’s. First impressions? Atmosphere was cafeteria-like, but it was charming. He got us two roast beef sandwiches. I was not impressed. I don’t really remember why. I think there was just too much meat and I wasn’t really blown away by the flavor. Not sure what I was thinking. We continued to date and I kept avoiding his puppy dog-like begging to bring me here again. Finally, a few years ago, I gave it another chance. IT. WAS. OUTSTANDING. I got the roast beef again, but this time it was a french dip so it was nice and flavorful and soggy(YUM). I got it on the dutch crunch roll, just the bread, meat, and lettuce. So, so tasty. I didn’t realize there is a large or small option, so the first few times I ordered it, they automatically gave me the large one and I would always have to pull out some of the meat because it was so huge. Now, I’ve found the smaller size is the way to go. I don’t find any of the sides too appealing just by the looks of them(but I’m very wary of deli side dishes, I have a sensitive stomach). But my husband LOVES the beef pasta. A huge downside is their hours. I understand they get a lot of lunch business with the downtown crowd on weekdays, but I work in SF so I really wish they were open for dinner. Since they aren’t open on Sundays, we can only ever make it out on Saturday afternoons.

I can’t believe after all the years living in Fairfield and even going to high school down the street, this is the first time I’ve ever been to Joe’s!!! I’ve never been a big sandwich person, but the roast beef looked good! You have the option of a French dip sandwich or mayo/mustard on your roll. Since I don’t eat condiments, I got the French dip roast beef sandwich with provolone! It was so incredibly yummy, tender, moist. Everything you could ask for from a sandwich! Since it was me and my friend’s first time there, the guy behind the counter wasn’t shy about showing us what he has to offer! After I ordered my sandwich, my friend couldn’t decide between roast beef and corned beef. The guy gave us samples of both and even drizzled some of that au jus on top of the roast beef — and that’s what sold my friend! Amazing customer service, top notch sandwiches, huge portions! I think I’ve found my new fave sandwich spot!
