Our first time trying Cava Funnel Cakes. They were good however a little over priced for what you get. The portion was good enough for my little kids(like toddler sized) but definitely not for me. We tried them at the Wooden Valley Food Truck Event this past Friday and couldn’t get past their friend trying to pimp off their booth to campaign for his upcoming election. Very tacky as he and his campaign crew pranced around with a large banner at a non-partisan event; taking pictures and all. There are rules for campaigning… read the guidelines before you lose more votes. Thank goodness the event coordinators stopped the idiocy. Anyhoo– so I was a bit turned off that this guy tried to harbor attention around the funnel cake booth. The owner of the booth should know better to not mix business with political activity. It just makes for bad business. All I wanted to do was enjoy my child sized funnel cake; not watch some guy take pictures with banner.

Holy moly, these things are decadent! I thought to myself«$ 6 for a ‘frisbee-sized funnel cake? I want my $ 6 funnel cake to be the size of an bouncy workout ball!» Soooo… I ordered 3 hoping to get satisfaction. Well I(by I, I mean the group of 6 I was with) could not finish all 3! They come with 2 generous scoops of ice cream and the funnel cake is not light an fluffy but more like a belgium waffle. They’re so delicious and satisfying but I definitely should watch out for cavities after indulging!

So before you make any judgments about a funnel cake company and how easy it would be to just«make it at home» think of the convenience of CAVA as well as, «Hey this is totally better than the funnel cakes at Disneyland!» I can only comment on the Oreo Cake since I was unable to enjoy their most discussed item, banana(I’m allergic. I know — I know… Saging?! What kind of Islander is allergic to that?! Yep, even saba… insert sad face). This is one of those treats that you can find at the farmers market, fourth of July festivals, or winery events. I’m glad to try them out ’cause I know I probably would never make them myself… especially since they have specialty additions.

Don’t think of these as funnel cakes! There’s no relation to the«menu items» you’d find at an amusement park or fairgrounds. These are delectable, savory intermissions of goodness from a busy life. The cakes are light, the kind of pastry where you pay attention to every bite. And the toppings are savory accompaniments to their fluffy bases. As a testimony to how tremendously scrumptious they are: for a party of three, we ordered three. No one shared.

Used my ~Yelp~ deal to try this place out. They were @ the Downtown Fairfield Farmers Market. My husband & I got the Bananas Foster & I think it was called Strawberry Delight? Anyways both looked like it would be hella sweet but it had just about enough sweet that wasn’t overpowering. We especially liked the Bananas Foster. I would gp back to Cava for just that alone but the only problem I had was the amount of ice cream & whipped cream was just not enough to the amount of funnel cake you get. Thats the only reason why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. Nice & Friendly people @ Cava.

It was my first time to try it at the Suisun Waterfront during the 4th of July event. They had great funnel cake menu from Strawberry blitz, baked alaskan, nice mangoes, plain, and many more! The price is really affordable! This is a must try! Check there CAVA page on Facebook for there future events!
