I love this gym. It has everything I need to stay in shape, in a very supportive, non-intimidating atmosphere. I really appreciate all the little touches that make me feel welcomed and encouraged, such as the artwork, and notes on positive body image(no matter your size/shape) The classes are exceptional, and I very much enjoy that hot tub!

Women’s Fitness Center is a gift from The Universe! If you are looking for a local gym, with stellar yoga teachers, fun dance classes and all the machines, bikes, ellipticals etc and don’t own a pair of lulu lemons, this is your place! Added pluses: hot tub, steam & sauna:)

Sweet place, small but with everything you need, steam room, sauna, hot tub, machines, floor workout space, free weights, free classes… and the nicest people you’ll ever meet! All of the class instructors are incredible! each in her own way. Yoga, body sculpt, weight training, dance workout, the classes are diverse and all excellent. This place is turning me into a gym person!

I have to say how nice it is to have a locally owned women’s gym in Fairfax. I have been going to all the yoga and dance classes for the last few months and am really loving it. Great teachers and just one hour long so I can fit everything else in. Thank you!

I’m a recent transplant from San Francisco to West Marin(The Valley), and to say it’s been a lifestyle change is an understatement! With that understanding I give my review of the WFC of Fairfax. I picked this place because it’s closest to where I live and fairly inexpensive, as far as gyms go. It’s a pretty nice facility, with the majority of workout space being held for machines of the usual sort. They do have quite a nice class/floor space, with a nice bouncy wood floor and an impressive amount of equipment(mats, balls, weights, yoga straps, bands, kettlebells) considering the somewhat dated feel of the place. Their locker room/spa area is clean, though the minute you walk in the locker area smells of mold and dirty socks. Other than that, the sauna, steam room, and hot tub are all pretty nice. The«showers» is really just one large shower with 2 heads next to each other and a handicapped one across from them. This doesn’t seem to be too much of an issue, as it hasn’t ever seemed very crowded when I’ve been. In fact that’s one of my favorite parts about it. I’m not much into machines so I love that I can go in and usually have the entire floor space to myself to do my own workout with the kettlebells and such. The other best part about this place is how laid-back and friendly everyone is. The clientele is varied, though I think the majority are older women. Also they’ve sometimes got oldies playing on the stereo system– which is a negative to me only because I worked too many jobs as a young adult where oldies were the soundtrack, so it kind of reminds me of monotonous jobs and deflates me. This is definitely not a hip, modern gym, but the space is clean and has everything I need. I don’t need anything fancy, just a space where I can do my thing, so this works for me!

I love this gym! have checked out many others in this area and none smell as good and have such great atmosphere. basic equipment but always clean, hardley ever more then 2 other people working out, Cozy but with a light large hardwood floor space with wonderful props,(balls, straps, matts, weight, kettlebells, balance equipment.) and welcoming classes several days a week. I love the Piyo Class. The Spa is always clean, steam room filled with the scent of chest opening eucalyptus and a dry steam room. The best deal is to sign up for the year so it cost 50 $ a month. Well worth to 10 $ extra to no to go the stinky Fairfax Gym! Womens gym and fitness center is a haven!

The staff and community at WFC are warm, welcoming and nurturing, and I really enjoy the spa. However, I find the gym is less than ideal for getting in optimal shape. Here are the reasons. – The relatively low number of classes that provide a challenging work out. Pollyanna and Rose are great, but the gym could use more pilates/yoga and zumbia classes instead of the non-cardio dance classes they currently offer. a few days a week. – The early closing time on Sunday(2PM)

This is my favorite gym in Marin County, and I’ve tried them all. The owner, Joan, cares a good deal about this business and it shows. The staff is friendly, the set up of equipment is perfect, the décor is fabulous. They have a private stretching area that is quiet – no blasting music. Free parking. A steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi. Personal touches throughout: lamps, casual furniture, and art pieces. It doesn’t have the sterile atmosphere found at other gyms. They even have three bathrooms – so if I’m upstairs, I don’t have to run to the other side of the gym. A massage therapist works on site. All the other patrons are really cool. I love going there!

5 stars for the steam room, hottub and sauna. 5 stars also for the peaceful and calm, non-judgmental vibe here. The facility is more like 4 stars. It’s a bit cramped and sort of old-looking. But, it does the job and if you come during the day it’s totally dead so it doesn’t really matter. I love that it’s women-only and that I can feel totally comfortable sweating and looking foolish while I learn new silly ways to look(even) hotter. :D They provide lockers, so if you want to keep your things secure, use some common sense and either leave your stuff in your trunk or locked up in a locker.(Like most gyms, you’ll have to bring your own lock) If you’re looking for a space-aged exercise meat market, this isn’t your spot. But if you’re looking for a down-to-earth, supportive and chill vibe you might have found your new gym!

Women’s fitness has a calm friendly feel to it. With a great group of women that help modivate you. It’s a small gym but you can get a good workout. The all women staff teach you how to use the machines and are always right there to answer any questions you have. All the staff is great but Nathalie is wonderful, I look forward to her smily face everyday. If you are new to the gym I’d recommend scheduling an appointment with Nathalie and having her show you the ropes. The $ is only $ 3 more a month then I paid at Curves and here you get free classes, showers, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi it is well worth the $ to me. During the week I get great workouts and one night a week I like to go and spoil myself in the spa. If you are thinking about joining a gym you can go in workout a few times maybe try a class and see if it’s the right gym for you.

This place is awesome, relaxing music, clean, friendly. I love it. It’s small, but there’s a lot of good equipment and machines. I usually only go to gyms for classes or when it’s cold and rainy and this suits me perfectly. Update: It’s a good gym, but they could use a REAL yoga class with a knowledgable instructor. They need it to draw in more young women.

I am male and my girlfriend is a member of this gym. Overall she is mostly happy with it though she recently lost her iphone due to theft. Someone really_young who is not a member(and didn’t sign in, or pay) came to her pilates class and left early, with her phone. I imagine what she experienced is quite rare since there are mostly older women there, all from Marin(and typically have some wealth) but keep in mind this place does not keep strict track of who is coming in and out, and thefts do happen from time to time. Doubtful that they will buy her a new iphone, even though it is the front desk girl’s fault in our opinion, who let this non-member teenybopper attend the class. :-\ Beyond that horrible experience, she enjoys the Pilates and cross-training style instruction/classes and feels comfortable in the all women environment.

I’ve just been for a tour of this gym. Here are my thoughts from this brief introduction. Atmosphere: I felt relaxed. The women seemed down to earth, mostly middle age and up and certainly not out to intimidate anyone. Equipment: A range of newer and older cardio machines. Some are downstairs and some are in a more cramped space upstairs. There are weight machines and some small free weights. No smith machine or bench for loading bars. Classes: Membership includes most classes which seem to be an ever changing rotation of things from pilates to dance. Changeroom: They have a changeroom with one shower, a steam room, sauna and hot tub. This is the naked zone. Shower if you like being on display — they don’t have a curtain on this thing. I think I’ll shower at home thanks.
