Summit Design Remodeling

I am very unimpressed with this company. I had a simple job that I requested an estimate for. They were unresponsive to my e-​mails and would never pick up the phone.
When I finally got someone on the phone to ask about the status of everything, they referred me to another company because they weren’t interested in helping me out. I’m glad I only wasted 2 weeks of time trying to get in touch with them instead of any of my money on them.

We had Summit come out to give an estimate on finishing our basement. The person who came out did no measurements, wrote down nothing … no sketches, diagrams, nothing. The conversation was mainly focused on how much we were willing to spend and what contract vehicle he could get us to use (and was pushing ones that wouldn’t allow us to do apples-​apples comparisons to other bids). When it was clear that I was not going to give him the $$ of how much we were willing to spend and wanted an actual estimate for the work from them, he became highly disinterested in what we wanted to do. Further, when he asked me what my main decision point was, I said cost/​value and that seemed to be the deal breaker for him.
I knew we would never hear back from Summit because it was clear that they knew they wouldn’t be competitive with other reputable firms. Just for grins, though, we reached out to them to see how the proposal was coming along and, not surprisingly, the rep replied: «We have decided that your requested approach to the project is not a good fit for our group.» Hahahaha …
Just so anyone reading this review knows … the «approach» was a basic basement finishing job and the requested proposal was to give us an estimate which included quantifying allowances for major items — bathroom vanity, carpet, etc. This has been the standard approach of the other three bids we’ve received.
We have had a couple of great, very well reviewed contractors come out for estimates and I’m happy to provide other referrals for anyone looking. Be very, very wary of this particular firm.
